Stalls are horrible. Initially (before I saw inches coming off), I thought I MUST be doing something wrong. Had to be, why else would I not lose weight for so long.
I think stalls are so bad because you can know (logically) you're doing everything "right" but emotionally you "feel" there has to be something you're doing wrong. Stalls create this epic battle between your emotions and your logic.

I feel your pain...in my office I'm youngest (until recently), one of only a small handfull of women, and don't report directly to the groups I support. I have no choice but hold it together.
It can be tough, but you know what...you have to let it out. We all have that fine line and once crossed, you have to let it out. Better to cry than throw a full out tantrum (which I've seen the guys do from time to time around here).
You don't have to always be "together". It's okay to let yourself be human. Just think...the world didn't end because you cried at your desk.
What I've found is that I need to get sucked into something else when I get stressed. For example, I will walk to another location in the building, or read something quick on my cell phone, or heck, come to this site.
Once you find your happy place/activity...keep falling back on that. Just know, that the world won't end if you're human and experience human emotions.

I've been irratable for ....oh.....44 years I guess. Just who I am. Food or no food. But whoa momma when my coworkers surround me with unneccessary boxes of donuts and pizza everyday because they're too lazy to cook....and then insist that 1 will not hurt me. The real irritation comes out.
But sounds like you're facing the big hurdle that we all must learn to deal with...temptations in the real world. It's so much easier to stay on plan at home, in our unique environment and our routine. Once we get away from that...it's a challenge. But one that won't go away so we have no choice but to master it.
Good for you for recognizing it. It will get easier each time. Just don't get complacent, because that's also easy to do in time.

Today is going to be a fantastic family day grandmacathy! My 90-year old father is coming from India for a two-week visit, my older son will be home soon to see him, and my younger one is so excited about seeing his grandpa, that it's going to be wonderful in about 2 hours now

You need to take some "me" time and so does your hubby. Look at pictures that you have with family members. Take a walk down memory lane. Take a drive in the country and listen to the birds sing. Those would be my happy places to go to. You are in my prayers....... and remember "this to shall pass". :-)

I'm REALLY glad you shared this! It's worrying me because I am super Alpha female. This shaking, sweating business is NOT me. It makes me feel weak and I don't like that feeling. I go toe to toe with men daily at work and I can't be the weak, shaky one.
I agree, I have to let the emotions come. Luckily for me, my husband and kids are very giving people too, so they do take very good care of me when I need it. I got lucky that way

I'm also not losing inches right now which makes it tougher. But I've only measured bust, waist, hips and bra band. I'm sure if I'd gone the whole hog, maybe I'd see an inch off my thighs or something. It's a mind-set issue and an emotional hardiness that I have to develop, to overcome my years of traumatic experiences with not losing.

TwinsMama reacted to joatsaint in This protein is horrible
I guess I was lucky at my 1st try with tasting protein shakes. I got a 4 pack of EAS carb control chocolate at Walmart - and if you like chocolate, they are pretty good, just a little thinner than I like. So I tossed in a scoop of some powdered chocolate protein I already had and made it a little thicker and chocolatier (is chocolatier a word? :-P)
Anyway, later on I tried Premier Protein chocolate shakes - I had to buy a 12 pack to test them out - and they are even better than EAS, but I still throw in a scoop of the powdered chocolate protein - I just like the thicker feeling. I tried not to go too overboard with my purchasing and just stuck with the basics. I had previously counted on the reduced food bills as part of recovering the cost of surgery over the next 3 to 5 years.
Try not to get too caught up in the excitement of trying new flavors of protein shakes or you may wind up with a bunch of product that you don't eat, wasted money, and get discouraged. You'll only be on the shakes for a short time before your doctor is going to want you to get your nutrition from solid food.

Not sure how much you have to lose, but there is a blog 300poundsdown.com where the writer talks about how much pain she was in prior to surgery. It is a good read and will help you realize, you're not alone in having physial pain.
Maybe her story will give you some encouragement on this hard day.

I went cold turkey off of refined sugar....If you crave sugar it is bad for you...you are actually allergic to it....
What I have done is replaced the sugar with maple syrup, agave or coconut sugar...all natural and no Hexane in any of them..... So far so good...I bake my own things so it is easier to replace the sugary things with healthier choices.....

With any previous dieting prior to surgery once I went 3-4 days without sugar/candy/sweets etc... my cravings would go away. Just getting it out of my system really helped. Happy to say now I've not had those cravings having gone without for a while. Good luck with your journey.

Gone through it and still going through it several times over the past 7 months. 27lbs in 6 weeks in incredible. Almost 5lbs a week! Just ask yourself, "How fast was I losing weight pre-surgery?" I bet it wasn't 4lbs a week. You are going to go through stalls, we all do. It's part of the process. :-)
