  1. Think about the struggle of having the surgery' date=' the pain and discomfort. Think about the way your clothes fitted in the past. How miserable you were hanging with smaller friends. Think about trying to find a stronger chair to sit in and pray it doesn't break. Think about the plane and bus rides the tightness. Think about the quality of life.

I was sleeved on 5/14/13. I will not allow the pain I'm going through go in vain. I am determine to live. Just remember why u had it done and you will get back on track. We will fall down, now it's time to stand up and continue.[/quote']

Awww thanks I'm happy I posted this on VSG because now I feel the motivation really thank you very much

OMG - its NEVER too late

get back on the horse' date=' start following the rules - the sleeve was NOT a waste of time/mistake!!!

we all/most have messed up a bit :(

    you've done well - really

just shy of losing 50 lbs in 5 months - do the #'s - thats NOT a bad monthly average

    sure you can/will do better

as OP said - start to force the fluids - Water, Water, water, and then more water

at least 64 oz - you might have to push/force yourself to drink - improve daily

    it is very important!!!!

and i'm sure you know to stop drinking before you eat by about 15-30 minutes

never ever ever drink with your meals (people have been shot for less  )

very very important - do not drink anything for about 45 minutes after you eat!!!

i agree to go through pantry and chuck stuff like chips, Cookies et al

when you see something "good" to eat.........sweets et al...........

remember all of us are shaking their fingers at you saying - I don't think so!!!!

we're scary enough to make you drop those goodies!!!:D

tell your nutritionalist you need some more assistance from her - you are having problems

maybe you need to assert yourself more - and say help, don't let her just aske the basic questions - you need to say more - you want help

if she still doesn't do any good - get another NUT

good for you that you are eating small portions - but sounds like you might be grazing

eating a bunch of different times those small portions?? - sorry bud, gotta stop that

these past 5 months have not been a waste!!!

i can/will get back to basics - and continue doing well

after all you know this is a llifetime journey

    but the results are great!!!!!

i can see B) in your lovely smiling face - that you have what it takes to succeed

    i know it, i know it :)

come back here for more support anythime

    think positive!!!!

    good luck

    kathy[/quote']

Wow I love all of this you just wrote;-)

I believe I do need this help. I have an appointment with the nutritionist today if i don't get good help today from her I'll be looking for another one. I have to learn to not eat and drink at the same time and after my meals

I really appreciate this thank you very much. If you dont mind I will print this out and have it with me all the time to help me get on the right track ;-) hugs

  3. I'm 6 months out and know how easy it is to go back to old ways. What's helped is eating 5-6 times a day. Roughly every 3 hours. Buy healthy snacks- nuts' date=' avacado, string cheese, yogurt, hummus with raw zucchini slices, etc. For sweets, Fiber one has chocolate Protein bars now and they are delicious! Also I have snack packs if I need them. Good luck it's never too late![/quote']

Thanks for your help I will have to go food shopping and buy all these healthy tips ideas you are giving me

  4. A NUT can help by discussing food choices but they can't help with the choices that you chose to eat. This would be a good time to seek a therapist that specializes in bariatric weight loss. This is your thought processes and the inability to control the impulse to eat poor choices in food. Go back to basics and eat protein' date=' Protein, and Protein and some veggies. Detox from the carbs. Look up LilMissDiva's Basic Bootcamp, it is posted here under food and diet I believe. You can do this and the weight will start to come off........ :)[/quote']

Thanks for ur tips and help

  5. Push thru it guys u can do it!!!! I know its rough...its horrible for me and i don't have the restriction yet maybe try things that are sugar free but still satisfy those taste buds or a healthy sweet...maybe a banana or those sugar free fudge pops those help me a lot and Im not even sleeved yet its a struggle everyday to stay on the right track but u guys have come so far STAY ON THE LOSERS BENCH Y'ALL CAN DO IT!!!!!

Thanks I have to start find alternatives I have to do something to my life I know I didn't come this far going through surgery to fail at this too

  6. I'm sorry that you don't have positive support at home' date=' but this is for you, for your health. Don't fall into to the I told you so trap, prove them wrong!

    S

I cut a Pure Protein bar into 3 pieces, so if I want a sweet snack I eat a piece and it takes away that sugar craving and adds about 7 grams of Protein to my day.

    Good Luck![/quote']

Thanks thats a good idea of cutting a Protein Bar into Pieces and that is soo true I'm doing this for me not for them;-)

  7. Pretty much every store in the country has them. Just go to the chocolate/hard candy section. You will find some really great flavors. Try to have one and savor it. They have a lot of sugar alcohol in them.

I am starting my 2 week liquid fast on 6/5 and I'm planning on making Atkins Mocha smoothies (Atkins shake and ice). :D

Ahh okay never really thought of that thanks for your tips and help hugs ;-)

Also wish you good luck on your surgery hope everything comes out great for you. I know you will be a success; -)

  8. I am in the same boat as you. I had surgery Nov 28' date=' 2013. I have lost 66 lbs and have not lost anything for 5 weeks. Am getting very depressed. My story is similar to yours. I started sampling a piece of a roll at a restaurant and maybe a couple of my husbands fries and a handful of chips late at night. I an a CARBOHOLIC . My nut told me last visit to increase to 1200 cal. I was doing just fine on 800-1000. That was a mistake. Now I am having a lot of trouble getting down to even 1000.

Please keep in touch with me, we can lick this together. I need someone to be accountable to and it sounds like you do too.

    Best of luck.[/quote']

Hey I just sent you a private message lets do this together; -)

  9. You can do this but you need to get rid of your trigger foods. I stayed on a very low calorie' date=' low carb diet until I hit goal. I generally stayed at 700 or under on my calories per day, mostly around 550. Also, I work out daily at the gym and joined my gym's Biggest Loser program. Mostly I got rid of anything that triggers my grazing. Yes, I have a "sweet tooth" too but have learned to substitute . Every night I have a Protein hot chocolate from BariWise - 80 calories, 4 carbs and 15 grams of Protein. That is my "treat". Once in a while I would have a piece of dark chocolate but boy, did that start the carving cycle again. In fact, I was at the grocery, purchase a bag of dark chocolate dove pieces. First day I had 1 piece, 2nd day I had 1 piece, 3rd day I had 3 pieces and realized that I was starting down a bad path so I took that bag and threw it away. I just can't do it, after all I didn't lose 137lbs to go back to my old lifestyle. Its a work in progress but you have to be vigilant. Most of us who opt for this surgery really understand what you are going through because we are there too, the difference is that we have found the strategies to get us through those cravings. How much do you want this? If so you want this then realize that you need to take care of yourself first and get focused on your goal!![/quote']

Mmm that hot chocolate protein sounds good. That is exactly what happen to me start having sweets and now I made it back into my old eating habits again. I really want to lose this weight I have about 85 pounds more to lose I hope I can do this

  10. Well...Chickie....time to put those voices of negativitly on the back burner.....Time to utilize the tool that you worked hard to get.....now that you can eat "real" food again....you have to get back to the basics...Remember to eat your lean Proteins 1st and you might want to get back to if you are not already and start journally what you eat...make sure you are getting your Water in and some Protein shakes to help with your cravings...Hopefully this helps a bit...We all know it is hard but in the long run you will be so much happier...dont surrender be a survivor!

Thanks girl for your tips they are very helpful I was forgetting that my sleeve is just a tool and wasn't going to do everything for me. I pray to god I can do this;-) I have to drink more Water and I have to start drinking my Protein Shakes

  11. If it was me:

[*]Stop calling it a 'sweet tooth'. It makes it sound cute and makes it sound ok. Example: my wife keeps her car messy and she says "Oh' date=' I live out of my car!" No she doesn't. She commutes 15 minutes a day. As for the sweets, what's worked for me when I was on Atkins was sugar free hard candies (chocolate, butterscotch, etc). Do NOT go for the straight-up Sugar Free Chocolate. It's fatty and high in calories.

[*']Only talk to positive people about your journey.

[*]Relax. You shouldn't be hard on yourself. You can do this.

You are right it does sound cute"sweet tooth" . Where can I get those hard candies from?

  12. don't be so hard on yourself..but instead remember why you did your sleeve. Be honest with yourself. Are you walking each day' date='exercising? We know the sleeve is only a tool to get us on the road to a healthy weight and lifestyle. Respect your self ...think when you go to eat "is this worth eatting" Maybe you need to find other hobbies you enjoy that keep you busy and content. Think " am I really hungry" make sure your getting your protien and Water each day.I know you can do it...forget about these last few days ... your still 50lbs lighter and YOU CAN get to and stay at your goal! You deserve it :) have a great, healthy eatting, productive day...even if you take ot one day at a ti,e[/quote']

I just started walking 2 weeks ago, 2 miles everyday. Its just I'm eating to much sweets ;-( I think I have an addiction to sweets. Thank you very much ;-)

  13. I wasn't working out either which I was told to start 2 post op ;-( but for the past two weeks I've been walking 2 miles up and down a hill ;-) maybe thats a start for me but I just have this sweet tooth I'm going to have to find something sweet with no calories and thats hard ;'( I feel like if I was addicted to sweets I wish they had some type of medication for that lol

  14. I'm not sleeved (scheduled 6/19)' date=' but it seems like it still very early in the process. Your stomach is stil very small and you need to have only quality foods go into it.

Of course, if you continue on this path, yes - the sleeve was a waste of time. You don't want to look back 2 years from now and be the same weight - you want to look back in 2 years and be like "yeah, it was tough. But I made it and I'm healthy now".

Good luck. I know you can do it! :)[/quote']

Thanks for taking your time and replying. :-) I really have to and I've been saying I am i start in the morning good until the afternoon comes and this sweet tooth kills me ;-(

  15. Thanks for the advice its so hard just don't know how I got back here again and then I have my mom and my friends telling by surgery was a waste of time :-/ I did start going to a nutritionist but she really doesn't give me like any good tips basically all she does is weight me on this scale that says how much have I gained or lost on Water weight and fat weight and then asks me what did I eat, she doesn't really help so I guess I'll be looking for a new nutritionist soon thanks for ur help ;-)

  16. Hello, I was sleeved 12-11-12 it's sad to say but I'm back at my old eating habits. My start weight was 296 , my current weight is 248.
