I have a suggestion. We all have to admit that we have an eating problem or they would not have approved our Psychological review for the surgery. But the real problem lies in WHY we have that problem. So I was encouraged by a therapist to not only write down my diet, but maybe my story in general. My life story. We need to get out what is bugging us. Mental preparation is just as important as physical preparation! I have to get down to why I am depressed and eating so much. It is not just that "I like food." It is way more than that. Yes I am a chef and yes I like food, but there are chefs out there that have a passion for what they do and they are not overweight. Why? Because they do not have the desire to keep eating when they are full! So now that I have admitted that I have a problem, I have decided to tackle my life history to get to the root of the problem!

I was also on shakes two weeks before surgery. The first couple days were a bit rough but I found drinking more Water helped me to feel full and not looking for something to eat. I also found myself doing more at the gym to keep my mind off not eating any solid foods. You'll get through shakeville and before you know it the day of surgery will be here.

Hi Boo1. I am waiting for them to call and let me know they got all the paper work to send out! How has your process been? I have been through everything that could go wrong has..They lost my file, they aren't getting my records from my phycians office. They sent them twice so far! I just need to know how your's is coming along, Please!

Hi, just to update everyone. I have been approved and I am waiting for a last visit with the doctor. Excited and scared at the same time.

Hi Ladies, I'm in Birmingham. My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork to BCBS on Monday and I'm on pins and needles waiting for approval! Good luck to each of you! I would love to share my experiences and hear from you guys!

I loved all the things you said. You are right on. You now control the food, and the food NO longer controls you. You are NOT on a diet, just a lifestyle change, that you can live by for the rest of your life.

Find a smoothie king nearest you and purchase the Gladiator Protein powder it has 45 gms protein two scoops only 190 calories. You can make a seriously fruity smoothie with 70 grams if you use 3 scoops and just berries and pineapple total calories 340. All protein in for the day and your stuffed in one meal replacement. I usually sip on one all day and a little exercise drink my Water and I'm good.

Just had my sleeve done on Jan 24. I would love for someone to be my buddy/montor. Lord knows I need all the support I can get

I was totally 100% honest in mind, about my childhood, the issues there, etc etc. We had a nice chat.
I won't harp on mental health, but I think it's the single biggest thing lacking in the bariatric community today and why we see the failures that we do. I'm glad that I sought out a counselor on my own.
Having said THAT... I'm glad she followed up with your personal counselor. I really think one visit isn't enough for them to base their decision on.
I was self-pay, but my doctor still required a fitness eval, psych eval and all that stuff. I loved that he still wanted to be sure I knew what I was getting myself into.

Just curious...do you think psychs are given a psych eval before they can do evals? Or is crazy contagious? If my daughter was considering a guy on Plenty of Fish who was a psych evaluator I would disable her computer!

I had to go to another psych. The first one told me that though I don't eat when stressed, I am an emotional eater and should work on that for 6 months. Made no sense.
Went to the second psych and she wanted a phone follow up to see that I was following my pre op plan and I was approved

Wow it's a good thing I'm doing self pay. Sounds to me like I wouldn't have a chance in hell getting approved after previous eating disorders, drug abuse as well as a 'difficult but still loving' relationship with my parents.

I've been thinking a lot about eval coming up in two weeks... I am paying self pay so that I don't have to deal with insurance bs. My father walked out on my family when I was 13 I've paid lots and lots if money over the past 10 years for therapy... I'm not getting into any of that... I'm not gonna lie but I'm not gonna give too much info either... Strait down the middle... My husband his being sleeved this summer so no issues there..
