  1. My head is spinning...I cannot get over that yesterday I walked out of the surgeon's office with a date. 8 years ago' date=' I jumped through all the hoops that my insurance required for an appeal. I spent a lot of time gathering all the information, going to doctors and having extra tests done. Eventually my insurance company said no to the RNY. I lost 150 lbs on my own, and have struggled since then. My consult yesterday, the office manager tells me that my insurance required that I join a gym, do a sleep study, see a psychiatrist monthly and a nutritionist...and I said no. I had done all of that before, only to be dissappointed in the end. My husband and I decided prior to the appointment that we would cover the surgery if the insurance was going to be a pain the butt...now I am spinning.[/quote']

I guess when you want something bad enough you do what you have to do. I am in the same boat. I hate spending $15,000. But money well spent for a healthier new ME!!! Good luck to you. I am scheduled for December 3rd.

  2. What is the benefit of doing so? I have been on here for a couple of weeks just reading. I don't really have friends that have had this operation. I sort of feel alone:( This site has been a true blessing for me! I have a very supportive family, but they don't really know what I'm going through. I'm having my surgery December 3rd!!! I love it when I hear other people having surgery around that date. So ready for this new journey!!!

  3. I keep seeing everyone talk about a pre-op diet. I wasn't told I had to do this. My meeting with the nutritionist and my final meeting with the surgeon is on the 29th and my surgery is on the 3rd that's only 5 days. Was anyone else not told about a pre-op diet?

I have the same date as you. I don't have a pre-op diet either. I am to have a small Breakfast and nothing after that the day before surgery.

  4. Your story sounds a lot like mine. I have worked hard to save up the money to pay for this surgery. Insurance won't pay. I am having surgery Dec 3rd, God willing!!! I can't wait to take a vacation to Disney. The thought of keeping up with my 9 year old twins without my feet killing me is a dream. A dream that is soon to come true. Best of luck on your journey.
