Geminidrive got a reaction from KickRocks in sexuality
How has WLS affected your sexuality? It hasn't for me, I have always had a very healthy sexual attitude and appetite. I've embraced my body at every size that I've been.
Do you feel sexier and how are you dealing with all the new male attention? No, I feel the same.

For me it's very simple, I have an opportunity to educate and me telling others about the surgery eliminates the gossip.

I walked about 6 miles getting up every 15 minutes to pee that night. Does that count? LOL I'm sure I annoyed my roommate, but when you gotta go, you gotta go!

I supervise the two office workers we have, and though I don't usually get into too much personal information, I did tell them. They could not have been more supportive. Now, neither of them have weight issues, but they joined me in eating healthier, not ordering out as much, bringing healthy Snacks (fruit).
Now that I'm 3 months out I do order out lunch every now and then, if its Chinese food, I'll get steamed shrimp/chicken and Broccoli and some garlic sauce on the side. No rice, no eggroll. If we get from the deli, I'll get a "sub" but no roll. Lots of Protein and tastes great. I'm eating much less of course, but I dont' feel I'm outside of what everyone else is doing. I imagine this approach would not work for everyone, but it has been great for me.
    Good luck!

Sounds like a bunch of big city talk mumbo jumbo to me. Back in reality land, we know where it goes. You slip the fat under your pillow and the fat fairy leaves you a dollar for each pound. I'm still waiting to get paid! So far that bi*ch owes me 70 bucks!

Does everyone have to swallow that stuff for the leak test? My leak test was done in surgery, so no I did not have one after surgery.
Do nausea meds really work? Yes, I've taken them many times for labrynthitis and when prescribed morphine. Like you I'm no fan of puking. Make sure your doc has you covered on that end.

I'm still about 3 months pre-op, but I've been researching for over a year. I've pretty much wrapped my head around the diet (pre and post op), the technicalities of the surgery, and how huge of a change this will be. After reading around here I have a few questions.. (I did search some of my questions but didn't get anything really)
    1. Is it comparable to a csection (pain wise)?I've had 2.
    2. Does everyone have to swallow that stuff for the leak test? I heard it was beyond disgusting
    3. Do nausea meds really work? I have a serious phobia of vomit (so bad, that I've had to call my mom to come over and clean my son's vomit because my husband was working). This is causing me SO much anxiety. I have a very high tolerance for incision pain, but NOT nausea. It will actually throw me into a panic attack if I think I might throw up.
Please give me your experiences or advice!! Thanks
Edit: and If anyone has similar stats as me I'd like to hear your experience too!! I'm 5'3" 280lbs.

I have been telling everybody about my surgery who will listen for several different reasons...
I'm excited and I want to share the excitement of me changing my life for the better, The outpouring of support from my friends and family and coworkers and others has been overwhelming , very few people have shown negative reaction and when they do, I act like I do not care,,,,
Since I have shared my story was so many people about doing the weight-loss surgery many people did not know this was even an option especially going to Mexico with great success and are now doing it themselves...
I feel like the more I share this with people the more I educate others about the awareness of obesity, controlling it and being able to do something about it and I'm proud of my decision of having the self-esteem & the courage to go forward to make myself a healthier better person !!
The only people who have given a negative reaction are the uneducated about the topic and the people who do not have a weight problem so I don't expect either one of those to understand anyway!
i feel so bad that people feel they have to hide this or lie about it ....So it is my opinion ...why lie because then you have to cover lies with more lies and he just gets worse ...be honest about who you are and I think people seem to respect me for having the courage to go forth but that's just my opinion and I respect everyone else's!

Lol, no ma'am. I would also find it hard for people to believe that I lost 30lbs in one month in my own. Also how little I can eat.. Like you, I find it easier to just tell the truth because the unwanted stress of constantly lying is not what I want. 68% of Americans are obese or overweight so more then likely who I tell is a chunky monkey too.. Ha ha

I never understand why people lie about the surgery.. I am flat out honest when people ask me how I lost weight , I don't sugar coat anything . If they don't like it that's there problem not mine. One of my best friends has lost over 100 pounds with the surgery it's been a couple years and she still continues to lie to people ! I just don't get it . I'm proud of my new sleeve and tell everyone that asks . I think it's more of a burden on someone's life to constantly be worrying and trying to cover up how they really lost the weight . Seems like it would just be easier to tell the truth.

When did a life choice become a group decision especially when this doesnt effect your friend. I understand that you consider this person a friend, but when you've made other important decisions in your life was she involved in those decisions as well? Sometimes "we" make decisions that no one else is going to like and we must stand by those decisions and stand up for ourselves no matter what others say. I would give her space, but before giving her that space I would tell her how much you love her as a friend and no matter how upset she is you aren't changing your decision to have the surgery. Ask her would she prefer to see you happy and healthy or miserable and unhealthy.....and if she is your true friend she will stand by you even though she doesn't agree with you. Sometimes all a true friend needs to do is just be there. I hope your friendship can survive this.

No matter what you take it's still going to fall out. I had really long hair and although it was really thick to begin with I was noticing it falling out badly. My hair dresser suggested that I cut it in a bob, and put highlights and low lights to mimic more depth. It really did work, and no one was able to notice the loss. I actually look so much better with the short hair that I decided to keep it even after the Hair loss stopped. Good luck!

I'm not trying to make light of your situation. I'm sure if it were me, I'd feel the same. But , sometimes we gotta put our big girl pants on, and deal with things we don't like. You work because you need a paycheck. If you didn't you wouldn't be going back. That being said you have far too much on your plate (no pun intended) to focus on besides office gossip and petty drama. just go in there, focus on your post op diet, and who cares what they think?? you dont need their approval, honey. It seems like a big deal now, but it will pass, and no one will care about it once you return back to work. and if it really bothers you that much to discuss it-- just simply say that-- I'd really rather not discuss it, but thank you for the well wishes, or something like that. no one will press you for more information. dont stress yourself over this.

I want to try the kale Protein Shake and my niece is the expert (so she says) of the green shake. I do like to experiment with wild concoctions, so I want to try a spicy hot Protein Drink (if that is possible) it would satisfy my thirst, Protein and need for heat. If my mother was alive she would be my Guinea pig. Lol

I'm sorry this happened to you. but, I'm fairly certain you don't have a legal case. what will happen is (regardless of what in fact happened) your boss will simply say that he/she was informing your co-workers that you will be gone, which is well within his/her right to do so. a description of "having a procedure", while I agree is an over-share--- It is not against the law.
Pain and suffering? (I'm sorry, I work at a law firm and so many people throw this term around and threaten lawsuits, I'm nearly jaded). I think you should just let this go. You are getting yourself worked up about it, and you should just let it go, and relax. focus on your surgery, and your health. and best wishes!

I told everyone that would listen because I was only taking 5 days off and I wanted them to know why I might not be "myself" when I got back.
I'm lucky though, everyone is 1000% supportive. I know, it's an exception, but it's why I chose my employer.
I hope you work something out with them OP.
