Geminidrive got a reaction from No game in Chris Christie had lapband in February
He probably had the surgery because he was called out by Dr. Connie Mariano. Good for him, but not a fan!

Geminidrive got a reaction from Chivon32 in Did you keep your surgery a secret?
I told everyone. Why not, it's not a secret. People need to be educated, so If I can educate one person then I'm happy. I have received such a positive response. Co-workers sent me cookbooks, exercise sites, gifted personal trainer consultation and continue to encourage me. I must admit that I'm not the type that leans on anyone for support or need a cheerleader, I typically fly solo, but it's nice to know that others are care.

Friends are with you when you need them, she isn't a friend. It's very simple, friends don't act like that.

Geminidrive got a reaction from BewhoGodcreatedmetobe in How many carbs
I'm a bit over 4 months post-op. For me I try to get in 50 or less carbs per day. Typically I get my largest concentration of carbs in the morning for breakfast and spread the rest out over the day. There are of course days when my carb allowance is more that the 50grams. I say find a plan that works for you.

Geminidrive got a reaction from BeardedBurbler in Friend jealous or unsupportive, or both?
The only way you will know is if you ask her. It seems to me every time someone doesn't acknowledge something we are doing there is an automatic assumption that jealousy is the motive, perhaps it's just indifference. When we put too much stock in what others think of our journey we give them too much power. Ask her or this will continue to annoy you. Good luck!

Geminidrive reacted to iggychic in Wendys jr cb 3 wks out
I don't often rip someone a new one...but you tempt me dear. Obviously you are leak free so far, dang lucky given you don't seem to worry about them at all! It's a slip up to break a diet pre surgery, it's a suicide attempt to do so after the surgery and if you don't understand that you shouldn't have had the surgery. I had a leak, not from being stupid (ok I wasn't...we'll leave the medical folks out of that) it's a death threat. Do you understand? that freaking burger could KILL you! And worse you might live through the hell that is the treatment for a leak! Literally I never understood the kind of torture that a medical professional could administer in the name of curing you. My ribs were spread while I was awake! Garden hoses shoved into my chest while awake. Knitting needle sized tubes stuffed down my back while awake. PAIN and SUFFERING and I'm one tough chick!
Don't wonder and don't be so unconcerned as to call it "flubbing". Another big F word might make sense, but understand, you are trying to kill yourself and you don't take it seriously. Measure, weigh and stick to the damn rules at lest for the first two months, then if you want to flub up, what the hell, it's your body, but don't come here and throw such horrible choices in the faces of people who take this seriously.
OK there....tough love, but really....think for gods sake. And that was me being "nice" about it.

Geminidrive got a reaction from mwrarr in One Day Post-op...GAINED 12#!
Calm down. You are probably full of fluids. Get off the scale, put it away!!! If you weigh yourself everyday you are going to drive yourself crazy. The weight will come off, monitor it but don't send yourself over the edge unnecessarily by getting on the scale every day!

Geminidrive reacted to johnlatte in Bizarre trend?
I dunno Laura, I think it has to do mostly with the mental and physical aspects of going through all this. One of the things that I notice that might contribute to the regret thing is that a lot is that people aren't prepared for the surgery. Typically you see them complaining about the pre-op diet, or they don't like the taste of Protein Shakes etc. They want to start eating a week or so right after surgery. To me that's a clue to me, that they aren't taking the whole thing as serious as they need to and those seemed to be the ones that voice the most regret. I also see a lot of people in pain and can't eat or drink, and I wonder about that too? Maybe I'm one of the mutants that got lucky. I've never had any "symptoms" like that. I followed my Drs orders exactly (well except for that whole eating enough thing) and I got my butt in shape pre-op (well as good as I could) and I never looked back. Never had a problem drinking or eating much of anything. I'm not 100% happy losing a pound a week, but it is going down not up and a year ago I couldn't say that. My soon-to-be ex still doesn't get how I was able to get sleeved on a Tuesday, go back to work on a Monday and hit the gym the same week, then two weeks post op, fly from NC to NM with my staples still in and not once have a problem. You just got to suck it up and deal, and maybe that's what we are seeing a lack of... I dunno...

Geminidrive reacted to Michele1024 in I have some questions
What to bring with you?
Well honestly don't bring much. You won't even bother because you will be just being in the moment feeling what you are feeling. I would bring PJ Pants and slip on slippers but I really didn't use those. Hospitals give you non slip socks and I just stuck with those. I didn't want to bother. I hated my IV so the idea of typing or texting didn't work for me. I left that for my mom and my boyfriend to do. They have toothpaste there. You will absolutely use that. The hospital gave me stuff to wash myself down but honestly I didn't want to do anything with that IV in. I waited until I got home. Other than chapstick that's about it. Don't go crazy bringing stuff. I did and it was a waste. Instead focus on what you need when you get home.
Protien - I love Premeir. Make sure you can even have that the first 2 weeks. Most people are on clears for 2 weeks.
Take care and good luck to you

Geminidrive got a reaction from natedinsmoor2 in I have some questions
First my question is what all should I bring with me to the hospital for a more comfy stay? I didn't take anything but myself, my stay was minimal and hospitals are filled with germs and I didn't want to bring those germs home with me. For me, less is more.
Also, What are some high protien surgar free shakes & where did you find them ? I drink Premier Protein, 1 gram of sugar. For the powdered mix, I use Designer whey French vanilla.< /p>

Geminidrive reacted to OKSleever in Pysch Eval - FURIOUS!
As a psychiatrist, I would say that it sounds like the dr is doing exactly their job. For whatever reason (remember, we weren't in the room, we don't know what was said), the doctor has concerns about the patient's ability to comply with the diet. Rather than saying no, they offered to gather more information before making a final decision.

Geminidrive got a reaction from drea0325 in No pre-op diet
My surgeon did not require a lengthy Pre op liquid diet other than the Pre op magnesium citrate cleanse along with Clear Liquids one day prior to surgery. I have not suffered any complications as a result of a different Pre op plan. My BMI was very high and post surgery my weight loss has been consistent and steady. Hope this helps.

Geminidrive got a reaction from diannepj1960 in make sure this is what you want
Hopefully it will get better for you.
You have to put everything into perspective, this is a choice we make to be healthier, Thank god we can make that choice, in the bigger scheme of things (unless you have had serious complications from the surgery) this is easy. Imagine the people who are gravely ill who don't have choices, who are in constant pain and struggle every day just to survive. Yes, you are uncomfortable, but thankfully this too will pass.
Every day, I thank god that I was able to have this surgery so I can be healthy.

Geminidrive got a reaction from sharonintx in Various rants and raves
You will need your Protein so you will have to find something you like, even if you have to doctor up the shakes. I wasn't fond of them either, but protein is essential and so is Water. Try some crystal light or drops to make your water tastier, you know its important. Finally, put some clothes on and reintroduce yourself to the world, get out of that rut and shine girl! You will be just fine, you just need a few to adjust.
