  1. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Everyone isn't going to feel the same way, some want the weight loss to be noticed and acknowledged others don't. Here's my thoughts on it, if you don't like what someone is saying or if you feel uncomfortable tell the person....correct them (firmly but politely) if you do like what they say embrace their words and say THANK YOU. In my opinion sometimes we worry too much about what others are thinking and saying rather than taking that energy to focus on making ourselves better.

  2. I really was hoping that I wouldn't need to write and compile the FAQ's myself. If everyone contributes just a few questions/answers, we can really get the ball rolling.

I'm sorry due to business travel and a busy work schedule I haven't been on the site much and won't be in the future so I haven't been able to do this. It might be best for someone who frequents the site daily to comprise this list. Apologies.

  3. Prior to the surgery I did exhaustive research, so basically nothing was a surprise for me. I didn't have any bad experiences. I think for me preparation is everything, I was prepared. I think one has to also clear their head and be ready for change, if not you are bound to have roadblocks. If you have a lot of things going on in your life that cause you stress, I would suggest that you get a hold on them before you plan your surgery. This was neither painful or stressful/emotional, so far so good. No complaints.

  4. I am 4 months Post Op and NEVER hit a STALL… :D Yeah for Me!!!! Okay, Okay, before everyone goes Ape ****, I will tell why. I only weigh Once a Month at the Doctors office. Every 30 days I get on the dreaded scale, and it is becoming my Friend, because I am always Much Less than the last time. Yes, I am Know I am Stalling Just like everyone else, but I don’t know when that is so it helps me mentally not focus on the negative and just plugging along doing what the doctor tells me.. Just a thought if you are getting frustrated with the daily or even weekly weigh ins, Don’t do it to yourself, Weigh Once a MONTH!. :)

I like the way you think! :) I think some do themselves a disservice by weighing in too much. Especially the daily weigh-ins. But folks are gonna do what they do. LOL

  5. My understanding from the discussion here is that his doctor (or someone on the WLS team) who did the procedure discretely at his home (to avoid media coverage) leaked the information to the .media. Chris Christy was forced to confirm the information with the media by doing a press release in order to not be perceived as "hiding" the information from the public. Honestly, I think disclosure of WLS is up to the person having the WLS. Since Christy did not originally disclose the information that was held by the medical institution, there are grounds for a HIPPA violation. Do you agree?

Oh, Ok. actually I think he did a good job hiding it this long.

  6. I wouldn't suggest booking an appointment with no intention to buy. While it is a free service, it is expected that you make at least one purchase. Otherwise the stores will start charging for this but the trade off is totally worth it. A quality item that you like plus style and fit tips from someone with a trained eye. There is no expectation that you buy everything. Also if you do take pictures be respectful of the environment. You will have to leave the dressing rooms. The last thing I would want is the lady next to me snapping away photos while I'm dressing and undressing.

How would one take a photo of another shopper in a private dressing room? All higher end department stores have private dressing rooms.

  7. I would suggest making appointments with Department store personal shoppers. Most major department stores have free personal shoppers and you have no obligation to purchase. Tell the shopper what you are interested in and she can pull together some looks. When you meet with the shopper take a friend with a camera so you can memorialize those looks. You can then search for similar options in less expensive stores.

  8. I got rid of all of the junk in my kitchen. I purchased bottled Water and crystal lite, Jello, sf pudding, greek/high Protein yougurt and high protein soupall of the other things that I bought an abundance of I got sick of so I would steer clear of overstocking.

I didn't take anything but myself to the hospital, my stay was minimal and hospitals are filled with germs and I didn't want to bring those germs home with me. For me, less is more.

  9. First my question is what all should I bring with me to the hospital for a more comfy stay? I didn't take anything but myself, my stay was minimal and hospitals are filled with germs and I didn't want to bring those germs home with me. For me, less is more.

Also, What are some high protien surgar free shakes & where did you find them ? I drink Premier Protein, 1 gram of sugar. For the powdered mix, I use Designer whey French vanilla.< /p>

  10. Here's my story, I posted this on previous threads:

    Info from my dermatologist yesterday:

My dermatologist explained that the type of hair loss we are experiencing is called telogen effluvium and is more due to recent shock to your system, ie., weight loss, pain, recent surgery, over or under active thyroid, childbirth, medications and other underlying conditions not just lack of Protein. The dermatologist mentioned that one could lose over 50% of your hair, but that it will grow back in 5-8 months. She suggested using minoxidil, which will stimulate the growth of new hair faster. The less expensive brands are: (both 2%)

    * Equate which can be purchased at Walmart

    http://www.walmart.c...e&cat_id=976760

    * Kirkland Minoxidil which can be purchased at costco.

    Important instructions on use:

It is important that if you do use the minoxidil, it is to be placed on your scalp, do not rub it into your hair, it will just make your hair more brittle and susceptible to breakage. Do not let it drip onto your forehead as it will cause headaches. The best application is laying back preferably into a Shampoo sink.

Along with taking 10k mcg of Biotin, Minoxidil is applied by my stylist weekly, and it does seem like there is less shedding, but I'm not quite sure if it is as a direct result of the product or my body getting accustomed to the weight loss.
