    Hypothyroidism & Diabetes

Hi Mammysm -Donna: I got my sleeve revision with a new surgeon, finally my sleeve is the correct size. I'm following a high Protein low carb diet. In 3 months have lost 40 lbs. I currently eat 500 - 800 calories, 25 - 50g carbs, 80g+ of protein, 64 oz of Water and exercise. Bariatriceating.com also on Facebook has taught me a lot has been the icing on the cake. Hope this helps. Thanks SoLiel

  9. I had the lap band July 2010 lost only 16 pounds, Lap band was removed Oct 2012. Had the sleeve done Nov 2012, lost 24 lbs only. I now have an appointment with a new surgeon to consider revision. I don't know which procedure he will recommend. I am still a diabetic with hypothyroidism being treated by endocrinologist. I have been seeing a WLS Nutritionist since 2011. Frustrated, I think I made the wrong decision two times. Was it the surgeon that did both of my surgeries? Is it me? Am I destined not to loose weight? Thanks for your support.
  10. What was the outcome after they found out your sleeve was too big? I'm going through something similar. I'm only ten months out but I know I can eat way too much and have been able to for months. The original doc said I may have stretched it out but I was thinking it had to do with my having the band first. However, due to my insurance changing I'm going to a new doctor next week and they are already saying something is wrong since I've only lost 10 pounds. I'll be having some testing done to see what's up. The surgeon left my sleeve too big due to the band. I need a revision. I also found a drawing of what my sleeve surgeon did to my stomach from sleeve to band it was not cut right size.
  11. Yes I have. And I never stopped seeing my nutritionist. The food gets stuck in the area that didn't get cut. So my stomach stretches. I've used the app and log my food for my nutritionist to see/analyze.

    NJ Obamacare coverage...

Obamacare or any personal health insurance you purchase usually does not cover Out of Network costs. My surgeon only takes United Healthcare Oxford which I can purchase, but the hospital he does surgery is out of network.

    NJ Obamacare coverage...

I searched those plans they offer coverage for in network doctors only no out of network coverage...which I think my doctor is out of network.
  15. Hello everyone, my current employer's health insurance does not have any bariatric benefits, neither will the new health insurance for 2016. Any suggestions as to where I could get health care insurance? Other than Obamacare? I have a complication on my sleeve and I need revision. Thank you.
  16. Great info thanks for your help.

Did you have any issues with this insurance and finding a doctor that takes this insurance?
  18. Good evening, I would like to know if anyone has any idea how much revision surgery will cost to get resleeve due to technical failure? The sleeve was left too large due to revision from lap band. I'd appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

  20. Endoscopy confirmed the doctor's suspicion...I have a big sleeve, it's also dilated w/ a bulge, he said it's not my fault, but it could be revised...now the waiting begins.
  21. My new surgeon to be, did my endoscopy yesterday and said my sleeve is dilated and has a bulge, he said it's not my fault, the sleeve was too big to begin with..causing weight loss failure. He advised that it could be revised with no issues. Now I have to wait and find out if my insurance will approve, since I have no bariatric benefits. I am so frustrated...
  22. Great info...thank you!!!
  23. my lap band slipped and I couldn't swallow, or keep food down, I got the sleeve done, my new surgeon thinks my lap band stretched the top part of my stomach and my past surgeon didn't cut enough from my stomach....causing technical failure. Otherwise I love my sleeve.
