    fell off the wagon!

first thing is to say to yourself it happened and it's over. Don't beat yourself up. We are all involved in a new process and we are all going to have our set-backs. Now go back to the basics--get your protein and your water. If you are tempted to eat things that you know aren't good for you stop and ask yourself, Do I want this bad enough to undo all the hard work and good that I have done? chances are the answer is Heck NO! Also look at a picture of yourself before you started and look at one of you now, sometimes that is enough to help you find the willpower to JUST SAY NO! Good luck and remember it was just a slip, the whole train didn't derail.
  2. i have been heavy as far back as I can remember. This has been a hard process for me. Before starting on this journey my high weight was 345 (before that my high had been 294) I lost 14 lbs on the 2 week liquid diet and my sleeve date 9/24/12 I weighed 323 (had dropped to 337 when surgery was scheduled). I lost 14 lbs by my 2 week checkup--I have stalled since then. I am working out 40-60 minutes 5 days a week, getting my protein and drinking my water. I thought maybe my carbs were to high and droped down to 30-50 gms per day and lost 5 lbs. I am keeping my calories between 1000-1200 (was told to be higher due to working out). I am doing cardio and was doing weights but have dropped to just cardio until I see weight coming off. I am verrrrryyyyyy discouraged. I can see changes in my body so I know I am losing inches but the weight not moving is very upsetting. I am trying to stay positive but when you read on here the amounts people are dropping and you are over 3 months out and are only down 28-36 lbs it gets very disheartening. I know we are all different but It still seems like something should be happening. I am just going to keep tweaking things until I hit on the right plan for me. I refuse to give up!
  3. I feel your pain. I was sleeved 9/24 and had lost 14 lbs when I went for my first check up at 17 days post op. I was thrilled. Since then I haven't lost a lb. To say that I was discouraged is to put it mildly. I could understand if I didn't feel like I was doing everything I could possibly do. I am even getting up at 545-6 am to go workout before work. I have sense dropped my carbs to 50 max a day and try to do less., I lost 5 lbs last week so I hope I am on the right track. I know it's hard to do the water. I am a nurse also but I have found if I get a big cup, 32-64 oz, I can grab a drink and I can fool myself because I don't have to drink as many "glasses". I also start every day with 16 oz of water as I drive to work. I just keep telling my self I have lost 35 lbs and kept it off so that is a success. I also put on a pair of pants the other day that I haven't been able to wear and though they were tight I didn't have to lay down to zip them and could then sit down in them. lol Success! We just have to stay on track and remember it's a journey not a sprint! Good Luck to you.
  4. Yeah! Down 5 lbs and on my cycle also so it may be more. I think it was to many Carbs. Trying to stay 30-50 carbs per day. Hopefully I now have the key. Thanks for all of your support and help.
  5. Okay so I went to work out 2 weeks ago and the scale said I was down 17 lbs--at my 4 week check up I hadn't lost anything so this was 2 weeks later---I was shocked but the lady nearby said the scales had weighed her right even a little heavy--I worked out that week Mon-Fri--I did 30 minutes of cardio 4 days and weight for 15-20 minutes 4 days and for 45 minutes one day--the next Monday I weighed, on the same scale as before and had gone up 26lbs--I was discouraged and decided to only weigh next time at my next doctor visit on December 13--I completed my second week of exercie as before--I am going before work and working out 45-50 minutes. I am also discouraged because no one has noticed my weight loss at work--I wear scrubs and they disguise alot--they feel baggy on me--my children have both remarked on my weight loss but I want someone who doesn't know about the surgery to notice--vain I know but it just feels good when someone notices--so my question is this WTH is going on with that scale? any help or comments greatly appreciated--I just don't want to get discouraged and stop working out and working towards my goal. It's a marathon not a sprit!

    JUST NOT LOSING :(

i know how you feel. I was doing great and went back for my post-op 4 weeks and 2 1/2 months and hadn't lost anything . It was very disheartening but I know I am losing inches and doing the right things. I have decreased my carbs to see if that is the problem. Just stay strong. Your body is adjusting to new way of living and just needs time. Good luck on the road to better health.

    Carb grams?

Hi everyone, So I have a question? How many grams of carbs should we be doing? I am working out 5 days per week and thought I was being really good with diet. Unfortunatly no weight loss. SUCKS! I am going to try keeping my Protein at around 80-90 grams and making sure I get my Water in, at least 9 glasses per day. I am going to lower my carbs--I think my body just can't deal with alot of them. I have been reading up and found a book that says around 20. I have seen on here people saying they are keeping around 80 grams. I would love to hear some different ideas. Thanks.

    Carb grams?

thanks everyone. That really helps give me some ideas.
  9. I was sleeved on 9/24 and have been doing well post-op. I was 337 pre-op and was down 14 lbs to 323 on day of surgery. My 2 week post op visit I was down to 314. Here starts the problem. On my next visit about 2 1/2 weeks later I was 314 and on my appointment today, 2 1/2 months post op I am 314. I am working our 45 mins to 1 hour per day--I do 30-40 minutes of cardio and 15-20 mins of weights alternating upper and lower body. I am drinking 6-8 glasses of water per day and doing 70 grams of protein. I am a vegetarian so it is sometimes hard to get protein but I am doing it. I am so depressed and upset about this issue. I would appreciate any help-suggestions--magic spells-whatever. I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I am burning between 350-450 calories per workout--should I be replacing those burned calories and getting a net of 1000 or should I just do 1000 gross? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  10. Thanks everyone, It's just so hard when you are doing all you know to do and not getting results. I am doing Slim Fast net carb shakes, eggs, cheese, dairy and fish to get in my protein. I also like Pure protein bars that have only 2 net carbs. Cottage cheese is great 90 calories and 13 grams of protein. i just eat it plain. It's a struggle some time but it can be done. I may go back on liquid diet during week and food on weekend and drop my carbs. Got to do something.
  11. Okay. so here is the wildest thing. I went to my doctor on October 25 (4 weeks post op) had not lost any weight in 2 weeks. Sooooo disappointed. Went home and continued to walk (2 miles with 5 intervals of slooooow jogging) and watch water and protein. This Monday, November 5th, I weighed before working out (now working out about 1 hour before work 30 mins cardio and 20 minutes weights) was down from 313 to 296! I didn't believe it. Got off scales and got back on same results. I asked if scale was right and lady said they weighed her right, maybe even a little heavy. Not sure what happened but am going with it. Sleeved 9/24 and now down total of 49lbs, 27 lbs since surgery. Sooooo happy but still don't know what the heck happened. lol
  12. Congrats! That's GREAT! I have been wondering about that also, what to tell people when you've lost alot but still have a long way to go. I have about decided to take pride in everything pound and let them think what they want. It's not where I started but where I end up and so far I have lost a toddler. lol
  13. Thank you all for posting. I started at 345 and was 337 when surgery was approved. Down to 323 after 2 weeks of liquids. I lost 10 pounds my first 17 days post-op. I was walking 2 times a day 1 mile and 2 miles. On my 4 week check up I was the same---no weight loss. Soooooo discouraged. I am now walking 2 miles a day with 5 burst of slow jog ( trying to extend each day) and have noticed recovery time for breathing is getting shorter. Haven't weighed again but planning to on Monday. My doctor told me that stall was okay. It helps so much to know that I am not alone and a lot of people are stalling but keep in keeping on. I was sleeved on September 24. I just want to reach my first goal of below 300. It's a marathon not a sprint! My new mantra.

    1St Checkup Since Surgery

had my first post-op visit yesterday also. I was sleeved on 9/24--highest preop 345 weight day of surgery 323 (after two weeks of full liguids)--weight yesterday 313. I am down 32 lbs total and 23 lbs since began prep for surgery. Why am I disappointed? Has anyone else experienced this?

    Oh All This Burping

I was sleeved on September 24. I did great the first 8 days--never took pain or nausea med and was up to walking a mile in the morning and a mile in the afternoon- getting in all my protein and my water then day 8. I am so bloated! I am burping like crazy. I am passing gas rectally also but I feel like I could just float away. I am using gas-ex, baking soda in water to see if I can burp it all out, etc. I feel like if I could make one good Shrek burp I would feel so much better. I had a horrible experience yesterday. I drank my protein shake, over 30 minutes, and was doing fine. Then about 1 hour later I had cold sweats, severe abdomenial pain and nausea. I had a BM (sorry fo descriptive but I need to know if anyone else has gone thru this) and finally was able to lay day. I felt so bad I called the on-call pager and was just told it was normal and was gastric distension and might happen again. I just need to get hydrated and keep moving. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I have always been very regular--every day--is it just my system is out of wack? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  16. My surgery date was Sept 24. I have done really well, never took any pain or nausea meds. I am now 9 days post op. My doctor has me on full liguids till Oct 11, then pureed for 2 weeks then soft for 2 weeks. I am allowed cream of wheat, which I hate, so I substituted grits. It was wonderful! My questions is this..I ate the grits at around 3:30 pm yeasterday. I still feel full and dont want anything to eat and its almost 4 pm the next day. I have had one protein shake today (love the Carb control by Slimfast 20 gms protein and only 2 net carbs) and don't have desire for anything else. Has anyone else experienced same? Also sort of down today. Sleeping more and not wanting to walk.. I am up to 2 miles split up into 1 mile at a time. Thanks for any help you can give me.
