I have not had my surgery yet, But, my plan is to be about the same size as you are now. I personally would stop losing if I look like you do now, only because I would then work on toning, weights, and tightening up my bod. I am 5' 6", so I guess it also depends on how tall you are. But, you look great! You can tell you have really worked hard. It must be nice to look and feel great.
Best of Luck to your continued success!

I think you are very balanced and natural looking at your current weight. Perfect!

Feeling fantastic!!! Just found this pic from last summer when I was 204lbs. This makes me realize how far I have come. My surgery was 10/1/2014. I am so close to goal it's an amazing feeling not to worry about what I am eating or what I am going to wear. I am no longer embarrassed to go out in public. I am enjoying life and feeling good...
I am trying to decide if I need to keep losing or if it time to go into maintenance. I need advice so I am including a before and after undie pic also. Be kind!!! I am at 138. My doc originally set a goal of 130-140. I had planned 120-130. But I am thinking maybe I don't need to go any father. Jut looking for some friendly support and advice. Thanks in advance.

But I don't wanna get too skinny. So advice would be much appreciated!!! The first is day of surgery, second a day or so ago.

I cannot believe how much US docs charge for plastics! What she has quoted you on is nothing more than what my surgeon in Mexico calls the Mommy Makeover...which he charges not quite $8,000 for which includes EVERYTHING except airfare. But, I understand not everyone wants to go to Mexico which I a shame as my surgeon is excellent. Just think, 22,000 minus 8,000 is 14,000. That's a LOT of money to have left over for new clothes.

My surgery was 1/17/13, so I am almost to my one year surgiversary, which I am celebrating by visiting my sleeve sister in Hawaii and running a half marathon in Maui. Hope your first year is as good as mine!

Read my above reply about the exercise. As for carbs during weight loss, very little. Max of 25 I'd say. I eat much higher than that now to maintain. My dietician and surgeon are very serious about carbs during weight loss.

Paul, I could not have said it better myself. I want to be successful and want everyone of my fellow VSG'rs to be successful also. It makes me sad, mad, and down right exasperated sometimes when right out of surgery ppl are posting about eating the same crap that got them where they are. I don't get it. There are so many ppl that need or want this surgery and can't get it and here they are throwing their chance at a new life away. Of course no one is perfect and we will all slip or have a bad day. And I will always offer support and an honest opinion and maybe a kick in the pants if someone needs it. Plz if I ever get to surgery and come back asking "are you sure xyz isn't ok to have now?" (When every single one of us has gotten a well thought out and very self explanatory diet plan to follow) Someone plz pop me upside the head!!!! Anyway thank you for the post and know you are not the only one that feels this way....

This is good stuff! The pictures with the body fat percentages were interesting. Right now I am very focused ion achieving my personal goal weight of 145. I am currently in a very comfortable size 8. Since I have been exercising a lot through this process, almost everything looks pretty good for a 42 year old gal. But, my lower abdomen is a train wreck! My breasts are largely gone. Before this surgery, I would have never entertained plastics. Now, I am planning to book a Tummy Tuck and breast augmentation as my reward for hitting goal! (Feel like humpty-dumpty getting all my goodies put back together again!) I feel healthy now - not skinny. Want my body to look as fantastic as I feel.

SuNMooNStaRS816 reacted to LipstickLady in What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
I'm only 6 months out and I've learned that there is no generally "right" answer. We are all on different journeys and everyone's path to success is going to look a little different as well.
You need to make your choices on what your body can physically handle and what you can mentally handle. Your choices may possibly determine how quickly you get to goal or if you even GET to goal.
I chose sleeve over bypass because I didn't want to be as restricted as I believed bypass to be. I wanted to be able to eat sweets in moderation, but sweets aren't a trigger for me. I didn't get fat eating cake and so a few bites don't make me crave more.
On the other hand, I cannot have open bags of chips in the house. I will eat them. All of them. And lick the bag. And then buy more. It's bad. Instead I buy individual serving sizes of chips for the kids because I am too cheap to touch them. I don't know what it is, but having an open bag is a siren call for me and I cannot tear my thoughts away from them until they are gone. I am also staying away from nuts for awhile. Yes, they are healthy and a great snack and I fooled myself into believing I could measure out a portion and eat just that, but I can't. I dip into the can before and after measuring and when I am done with my allotment, I get "just one more" multiple times. I can, on the other hand, stop at the grocery store and buy a small baggie or an individual serving from the bulk aisle and be fine with just those. I am choosing not to for now, though.
My long winded answer to your question? There is no answer for all, there is an answer for YOU, you just have to find it. Don't be surprised if that answer changes on a regular basis. Mine has many times and I am sure it will change again.
For me, moderation works until it stops working.
