  1. My surgeon's nurse mentioned it when I said I could not physically eat the 1100 to 1200 calories they suggested. I told them NO WAY. But I am not having the problems you mentioned.

    very disappointed

So sorry you have had this experience. You will not be happier until you find a solution. I would try a new surgeon and see if his Team could help you have better success because the current set up has not worked. I think step number one is finding what you are doing wrong and working on those issues one by one.
  3. Wow! Those pics look like mother daughter pictures! You have done an amazing job. You should be a poster child for the sleeve! Wow! Just Wow!

    Stalls in weight loss

Stalls are very common and even more frustrating. My Advice keep doing the right thing it will pass! I have tried a few things: Lift calorie and fat for two days the drop it down again. Increase Water and exercise Eat smaller meals more often, like every two hours. Decrease carbs to below 50 The dangerous thought pattern during a stall for me is no matter what I do I don't lose. That will lead to eatting bad and gaining. Some on here encouraged me that if I keeping doing right the stall will pass and after 4 weeks it did. From Jan 3rd to Feb 21st (last dr visit) have lost 16lbs. That is much slower than I want but after loosing nothing for the 4 weeks prior to that I will take it. Day of surgery 277 Two weeks later 255 Two weeks more I went up to 261 (I did not over eat or eat anything bad. I was doing the same thing I had been during lost) 4 week STALL Finally things begin to decrease and I see movement from 261 to 244( today's weight) 33 lbs at 3 months out. That is averaging 11lbs a month which is about right but not outstanding as some report losing much more. My PCP reminded me I had already made many lifestyle changes before surgery. My highest weight was 386. This means the reduced intake caused by the sleeve was not as dramatic in me as it would be for some. I have also been taking off Metformin and a Fluid pill so that hampers weight loss while our bodies adjust. My surgeon's favorite saying is it is a marathon not a race. I totally understand and know the feeling of a stall but the only way to be successful is to stay loyal to the rules and know eventually you will see those scales move even if it is so slow it defies logic they will move. I am going to have to read this post and remind my self all of this when I hit the next stall or get frustrated I am losing only 2 or 3 lbs a week eventhough I am working so hard! LOL !! I really understand how it feels wish it were not a part of the journey but I have not talk to a single sleever who has not hit a stall.
  5. I love Dannin light Greek yogurt. Pineapple is my favorite. Only 80 carbs and 8 carbs. Sometimes I can't eat the whole thing but it is good!

    and it is true! Protein

From OTR ( one of the mods) he reply to my questions about pdcaaas there: "Sounds like a misunderstanding of the PDCAAS scoring model. The PDCAAS doesn't go from 1-100, it from 0.00-1.00. Looking at the ingredients of a premier shake, it is all milk based Proteins which score 1.0- the best score available. I typically say that premier is a "good alternative" if you cannot tolerate pure whey Protein isolate or I'd you need the convenience. The downside to Premier shakes is that they are mostly milk based rather than whey. Meaning they do contain much of the impurities found in milk and are not a good option for the lactose intolerant. Keep in mind that immediately after surgery we are much more likely to develop a lactose intolerance. Therefore I recommend them as a convenience but not as a regular "go to" protein source.". OTR

    I got the puppy!

    So sorry!
  8. On another thread a poster complains about the pdcaaas score of premier. They claim to have called premier and got a score of 1 out 100 . They also claimed their shake got a 100 out of 100. I posted a link on that thread to Bariatric Advantage that stated the score was 1 but that was the top score other things such as chicken breast scored .97. I think the poster is confused with the scoring system. Does anyone else know any thing about this pdcaaas scoring system

    and it is true! Protein

Premier Protein in chocolate is awesome and approved by my sugeons office/ NUT. I googled for info on the score and found whey protein and whey protein concentrate have the same pdcaaas score. https://www1.bariatricadvantage.com/blog?id=88604 I think the poster who called was surprise to hear 1 but the scoring system used in the link puts 1 as the highest possible score so I believe there is a confusion in the scoring system. Premier would score a 100 on the poster system not a 1 out of 100.

    about 40 hours post op

Contacting the surgeon is good advice. You did mention that you are crushing your pills, so I was wondering if you were? The fever is not normal and should be reported right away.

    Puree suggestions

My Nut said we had to blend Chili and beef stew. Never had a problem with chili causing to much acid. Hormel makes single serve lunch items that add so e good variety puréed. You will not be able to eat a whole one. Like someone else mention you eat so little during this stage you will open one can if chili and eat on it for days. I brought Ruth's chicken and tuna salad, no need to put in blender they are already very soft. I could only eat 1/4 cup at a time so it lasted through out the two weeks.

    Low Carb Snack

I am looking for a low carb snack? I do Jerky but iy is high sodium. Couldn't tolerate nuts pre surgery so not going there now. Fruits are full of crabs. I don't want to just eat the Protein snack bar but I keep winding up back there because I can only eat so much sugar free Jello. I am limiting my carbs to 50 a day. Any ideas?

  15. I lost 22lbs the first two weeks after surgery! I was thrilled, I was feeling very happy with the lost BUT then the following 35 days I have kept the calories under 1000 logging every bite. Protien is getting in, Fluid is getting in, and lots of walking with a little weight lifting. I have went up to 261 and back down to 254. Please don't say I have built muscle I know better. My surgeon said my body has hit a "set point". Ok how long is this going to last? How is the math possible? My body has to be burning more than 1000 calories a day! I measure in inches neck, waist, hips on fitness pal. No change from pre surgery. I eat every few hours trying to up my metabolism. That moved it from 261 back to 254 but I also think TOM may have played a part in that up and down in that particular week. I keep carbs under 70. I was doing as low as 30's but my surgeon lectured me that my body needed more carbs because other organs use the healthy carbs to function. My husband reminded me that he was worried about this very thing because I have had the willpower to stay on a 900 calorie diet of 2 protien shakes and one healthy meal a day before surgery for months on end and the same thing would happen I will have a beginning lost then my body locks down and stays at one number. pre surgery that went on for months will it go on for months now? My husband is very supportive and he is just expressing the same disbelief I am that how is this possible? This Wednesday day I will be at seven weeks out and yes you can take 22 lbs and say that is good for seven weeks but I lost all that in two weeks! I have lost nothing in the following five and fear I will not lose in the coming weeks. I am a lot more active weeks 3 through 7 after getting forty stables out of my belly from surgery to fix cut bowel but it is the two inactive weeks where I actually lost weight. Why does the math of less input and more out put not work for me? I am seriously considering returning to the liquid diet that took off 22lbs, And that would take me to almost no carb again. Maybe I can take off the weight with liquid diet and keep it off with the sleeve restricted eatting.

    Low Carb Snack

So I got some Greek yogurt and cheese sticks today. I looked at the Wong tong wrappers because that sounded great but they were way to high in carbs. I had one of the 5oz greek yogurts this afternoon and was blown away I could not finish it. I was sleeve 12/5 and I still get amazed that I can only hold 3 to 4 ounces before feeling absolutely full and satisfied. I also brought tofu. I have never cooked it so this will be new, but maybe tomorrow that Greek yogurt has me stuffed.

    Metabolic rate and stalls

That can be a dangerous path of thought. Your weight loss and success or failure are effected by your actions. If you feel helpless to effect the out come your own your way to making excuses for less than desirable results. What you do or do not do will effect your loss and stalls!

    starvation mode?

That is good premier is low in sugar too, just 1 gram. We each have to find the protein we like best so whatever works for you.

    Metabolic rate and stalls

I think it is important to realize what your body will respond to. You learn by experiance. Even if you have not had surgery yet figure out what calorie and carb levels your body looses best at. Every one has a zone of what numbers work best for them. My calorie rate is 800 to 1000. If I hit a stall I lift the calories a few days and then drop them and that starts me back up. My carbs need to stay under 50 to shed pounds. You may be different and only trail and error will tell you. As for cardio that will speed metabolism and increase weight loss. The proper intake of Fluid and Protein will keep it from being muscle that the body consumes. A little weight training thrown in will help develop tone muscles. May you receive the best of rewards for your efforts.
