I get a lot of prepared healthy foods. costco has some really nice healthy shrimp platters. Any store does really. I go to the store & get a rotisserie chicken, container of cut up veggies, salmon w pesto butter ready to be baked....different items that require less than 5 minute prep time.

Oh, and one more IMPORTANT item: I feel that because I am losing slowly, or not at all at times, that it has allowed me to focus on HOW to eat for MY body. Not anyone else's. Mine. What makes me feel good. I have had the time to adjust and work out how I can eat healthy (90/10) for the rest of my life. No more fad/crash diets for me ever again!!

My story is like many of you on here. I've lost 59 pounds. Still have 40-50 to go. I was sleeved 8/21/2012. I lost about 25 pounds pre-op and the rest postop. So yep, that's slow. I was in a 9 week stall after Thanksgiving. Lost a few pounds and back to about a 5 week stall.
Honestly, at this point, i've stopped stressing. I do weigh myself almost daily because it holds me accountable. But that doesn't work for everyone.
I do log what I eat and focus on low carbs/high fat & Protein.
I feel better than I have in years. The weight will come off at it's own darn pace. I've accepted it and my surgeon better accept it when I see him in a few weeks.
At almost exactly 6 months I realized I could eat more. I can now eat 2 eggs for Breakfast instead of one. I like this because it means that I don't have to eat as often. And it sure as hell isn't ANYTHING close to the quantity I could eat pre-sleeve.
I stopped posting on VST a few months ago. I found myself getting WAAAY too adjitaded with all the competition, comparisons, etc. I've just started reading at the Veterans forum. If I start feeling that panicky 'i'm not losing fast enough' again, I probably will go back into hiding for my own sanity.
Cheri & Sweetums are right- there is no 'end' date. Patience. Tolerance. Acceptance. And work the sleeve.

I tried to tell people over and over again that we are all individuals. I felt like I was talking to a brick wall. I guess shame on me for giving up on trying to help people who wanted help. But really, my weight loss is all about ME. Just like 'your' (as the collective you) weight loss is all about you. As it should be!
We all lose differently. And if people have higher BMI's generally they will lose weight quicker in the beginning; but not always. The point is we are all unique. So this comparison has got to stop. It really doesn't help anyone and I think does significant emotionally damage to some people.

I agree 100% w Butter. I was having head hunger at 6 months out. I found myself munching more. Then I realized I WAS really hungrier. I've upped my fats to 60-75 and I'm back to losing again.

Doxieville! I totally agree. I was stressed because I thought my surgeon would be disappointed in me. However, he and my NUT were happy! I thought I was a slow loser and it is more by forum standards. The surgeon reminded me that the stats say 70 percent of excess loss in 1 year to 18 months and it could take up to two years to reach goal. So by those standards I am almost 50 percent there 5 months out. I had stop coming around too because of the slow losses complaints. I find that people are more likely to comment on those that are perceived to have "fast" success than those that lose a bit slower. IMO!

doxieville reacted to clk in Slow losers that are maintaining or close to goal
Hey folks - I tried to post a thread on the Success board in an attempt to stave off some of the frantic "I'm a slow loser" posts.
But what I meant to be a motivational thread that invited OTHER slow losers to share (so it could motivate everyone else) instead got picked up by just a small handful of newbies and turned into a "Yay Cheri!" post. Not my intent at all.
If any of you are also slower losers (as in, you didn't drop 110 pounds in five months) I'd ask you to please share your story there so people can find it. If we get enough good posts there, the thread might merit pinning.
No, it won't stop the frantic slow loser posts but it might give reassurance and help adjust the expectations of people that research.
I know a number of people that could post there (where are you, coops!) but the thread was quickly buried.
Here's a link if you're willing to share. I know a lot of you are at/close to goal after just a year. I'd be happy if you'd share a more moderate experience, too, but I'd love to see the folks that took 1 year + to reach goal posting.
Too many people have this idea that there's a magical window of loss when it simply isn't so. Hungry and hormonal people are already crazy...add in a scale freakout and people lose their heads altogether.

PEvette....one thing that has helped me with my hunger at this point was raising my fat intake. I was eating high Protein but low everything else. I upped my fat intake with foods like almonds, avocados, whole eggs, milk, EVOO, olives, full fat cheese.....and honestly I felt much better. I think this goes along with what Cheri said above....it helped my diet get more balanced.
Out of curiosity, how long has it been since you upped your calories? Many people cannot stay on an extreme calorie reduced diet forever and expect to keep losing. The furnace needs fuel to burn hotter. It may be time to add some fuel to yours.

Oh wow. I really wasn't going to post on here. Was just mildly amused. Now i'm not so amused.
Iggychic said exactly what I've been thinking. DO YOUR RESEARCH! No where ever have I read that people stop losing at 6 months, can live off their own fat, and can live on just Water for months. That wld throw a system into starvation mode so quickly.
I call BS on this post.

This just reminded me, included in the surgoens paperwork that I had to sign was a statement that said something to the effect that patient is aware that this sugery can cause relationship issues which could led to divorce and that the surgoen suggests counseling but is not liable for the demise of any relationship. I found that kinda sad.......
