  1. Question for those women that have been sleeved for awhile...have you guys kept your shape/curves after losing the weight. I pride myself in being curvy and don't want to lose it just because I will be losing weight. I never had this problem before but I have never lost a significant amount (20-30lbs).

I've kept my shape however it wasn't what it use to be before I gained all my weight. I'm now trying to tone up to see if that helps.

  2. Hello everyone' date=' have a question about the gallbladder. (Someone who never had any health problems besides being overweight)

I'm afraid of getting sleeved, because I've read that most weightloss surgeries later down the line your gallbladder will have to be removed has anyone been thru this and is it best to have ot removed at the same time the sleeve is done, I just don't want to go thru this later on.I have no health problems. Please advise? I'm just waiting on approval from the Insurance company.[/quote']

I started having serious problems with my gallbladder after surgery. I thought it would get better but it kept getting worst so I had mine removed three weeks ago. I feel better now that I've gotten it removed.

  3. I can't believe how well we have all done...got to love that sleeve!

I'm a september 24th sleever' date=' would love to lose another couple of lbs before my dr appointment.

Yeah, definitely need a boob job...they look like tennis balls hanging in tube socks...yuck!

    Congrats to all[/quote']

Funny, I was just saying the other day my boobs look like that.

  4. Wow u too have done great! I am slightly jealous haha...i started at 280 and im only at 192...blah..only ten pounds in 4 months.

Oh well better that then gaining. I did want to be at 100 by my year mark which is on 9/5.

New goal is to be under 190 at my year visit with the surgeon on the 23rd.

I have started looking into plastics..anyone else? I want my boobs and stomach...maybe thighs but i dunno if i want to go through that pain!

I def have to get my boobs done. I really want to get my thighs, arms, and stomach done but I'll settle for just the Tummy Tuck out of those 3.

  5. I've missed you all. This is our month!!!

I can't believe it's been a year!!! It's been great having you all as encouragement and support! Everyone has done a great job! Now we have to work towards the next year. I'm a Sept 12th girl!!

I started out at 241 and now at 123!!! God I hope I can maintain this!

Wow, what an awesome loss. Great job! I'm def looking forward to working towards the next year.

  6. I wanted to check in to see how my September 12th sleevers were doing. I hope well!! I fell off the wagon a long time ago and haven't lost anything since December of last year. I haven't been eating the right things though so I know what I need to do to get back on track. I started out at 220 lbs (18/20 size clothes) and now I'm 144.8 lbs (size eight). I was hoping to really be at 100 lb lost by our anniversary but I know that's not going to happen. Just checking up on you guys.

  7. You only have 27lbs to goal? That's AWESOME!! I can bet that you're actually making a lot of GOOD choices too if you're maintaining your weight so close to goal. That's something to be applauded' date=' too! Not gaining, IMO, is just as exciting as losing. But I have a long way to go, lol.

I'd try to cut out carbs, even if it's just for a week or two, to see if it curbs your appetite. I've read that the hunger does eventually come back, and I hope mine stays gone for a long time! But when I was pre-op, I did a low, low carb (almost no carb) diet and my hunger was completely gone in 2-3 days.

Maybe do that for a few months if you can, get to goal, and then start adding in carbs to maintain? Do you think you'll make it to goal without needing surgery to remove any skin?[/quote']

I will try that. Thanks for your suggestions! I think I will need some type of surgery. I have actually started to consult with a few.

  8. Sleeved 9/12/12

    SW: 220

    CW: 147 Down 73 lbs

I'm happy that I'm down 73 lbs and know that I probably couldn't have done it without the surgery in a short amount of time like this but then I feel as if I should've lost more by now. Everyone seems to be doing so well with their weight loss except me. Plus I've been at a SERIOUS stall since December.

  9. No, I haven't gained weight and if I do it's between1-3 lbs but never higher. I track on mfp and I can admit that I do need to restructure my percentage of protein/carbs/fats. I'm just concerned with the feeling of always being hungry. It's def frustrating when I'm tracking my food, working out, and don't lose anything and in so many months. I initial goal was 120 which was 100 lbs but now I have a feeling I will never make it there. I have 27 more lbs to go and it might not ever leave, lol.

  10. I was sleeved September 12, 2012 and the first couple of months I had to remind myself to eat. I never had hunger pains except for some rare head hunger if I saw others with food. I notice now that I'm hungry all the time and I can eat a full plate of food. I haven't lost any weight since last December and I know it's because of my eating habits. When our sleeve was done, I was under the assumption that they removed the portion responsible for producing ghrelin, so why is it that I'm always hungry? Has anyone else experienced this?

  11. People always tell me how great I look and to stop loosing weight and my reply is you haven't seen me naked so you can't tell me I'm not still FAT

I have this same problem. I hate it cause how can someone tell you how you're supposed to feel about your body. My friends have said they think I have some body issues cause I'm always saying I need to lose more. They don't understand that I look totally different with my clothes off.

  12. Yes' date=' it does get smaller. I have lost 80 pounds and it's noticeable. AND depending on your age and weight lost, the outer parts below that also shrink and shrivel so if you like to wax the kitty, don't be surprised if it looks like this

    Done Did It![/quote']

    Omg, this is hilarious!

  13. [quote name="Lisa :)]Here's the thing...Diets don't work!! If they did' date=' everyone would be losing weight and KEPPING it off with them!! The only way to achieve success in weight loss is with a change in lifestyle....which is why most of us had surgery in the first place.

The thing with diets is that they create a deficit. But it's like borrowing money from a bank...you can't expect to go into "debt" and not pay it all back plus interest!! That's the way diets work....you go into calorie "debt" and then, one day, you have to pay the debt back with "interest"!!! This is the reason that most people lose weight on diets and then when they go back to eating the way they did before, they gain it all back plus a little more. This is also what drives our "set point" up too...which is the weight your body wants to naturally be at.

Immediately after surgery we are forced to "diet", if you will...but long term, I don't believe that long term weight loss can be PERMANENTLY achieved through severe calorie restriction. Our bodies need fuel (aka: food in the form of Protein, carbs and fat) to run efficiently.

I was in a 5 month plateau (from Nov-March) and, for me, it was about taking an honest look at my eating behavior. I wasn't tracking and my nutrition was off balance. Now that I'm back to tracking my food and eating a balance of Protein, fat AND carbs, my weight loss has picked back up again![/quote']

Thanks for your input on this. I never really looked at it like this.
