takroom got a reaction from amykins in Anyone Not Tell Family Or Friends?
I didn't tell my family & friends til after the fact. I had made up my mind about surgery & didn't want any negative feedback or anyone trying to talk me out of it. I needed to stay focused & positive. I sat everyone down & told them when I got back. Everyone had a lot of questions but have been very supportive in my new journey.

Great Job newgrandmother!!!!! chicken & waffles sound mighty tempting. I don't know if I have that kind of will power yet. I'm finding it difficult to meet my friends out to eat. Went last night to dinner with friends. They shared a giant marguarita & plenty of good food. I had an iced tea & a chicken teriyaki skewer. I'm trying to stay strong & stay focused but that was hard. Sounds like you are doing great, which I'm so happy for you
Have you heard from toyaboo??

Momothing- Congrats on the 18 lbs. I a little over 3 weeks!!!! Wanting a steak sounds like head hunger, I've been craving pizza...UGH!!!! The head hunger is horrible. Don't freak out about your mom coming to visit. I think everyone my mom runs in to knows my life history (lol). She's a bit of a control FREAK, but after 47 years, I've learned to accept her for who she is. My choice was to be upfront & honest about what I had done (obviously after the fact). I mean, what was she going to do after it was done & over?! She was totally freaked out at first but has been very supportive. Believe me, if I hadn't just come out & told her, she would've found out & then been more upset I didn't tell her. Stay focused, stay string & reach for your goal...sounds like you're already on your way

takroom got a reaction from Sleeved&Hopeful in Missing Person?
I did a lot of research before I made my decision. Since my insurance denied my WLS, I had to search for an alternative, less expensive route. (U.S. cost $25000.00) I found Dr. Almanza, from Jerusalem Hospital, in Tijuana MX. I watched several You Tube videos, testimonials, etc. my out of pocket cost was $4500.00. Not once from the time they picked me up to the time they took me back did I feel I was in danger. It was overall an AWESOME experience. The people were friendly, informative & helpful. I hope this helps

I try to eat or drink some Protein every 2-3 hours. Everyone is different & you will get a lot of different opinions.

Daniele- it takes a lot of self reflection & courage to make this life changing decision. Congrats on your first step toward a happier, healthier life! You're going to do great! Think of the surgery as a gift, not everyone gets this opportunity. As your date approaches, stay focused, stay strong & do not doubt yourself. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Also, do as much research as you can. We are all here for you

Sounds like we're basically at the same stage of foods. I'm feeling pretty good but sure I'm lacking getting all my Proteins in as well. Hit a stall about a week ago & haven't lost weight since then. I'm down a total of 25 lbs. hopefully this stall won't last long.

I like the Pure Protein Shakes (ready to drink) from Walmart. I take the Vanilla flavored shake, add half a banana, a few drops of vanilla extract, add ice & blend. They are low calorie & taste good. Hope this helps

takroom got a reaction from Jld2375 in Hunger Hasn't Gone Away...why?
Cheryl~ I am not a Dr. but do ask lots of questions. Here is what I was told... We need to keep a high Protein, low carb & sugar diet. When you eat carbs, they send a signal to the brain telling you that your body needs more carbs (hence making you hungry all the time). Tell your husband to increase the protein & Water, cut back on the carbs & sugars, increase the excersize. Head hunger is HORRIBLE!!!! Also, tell him, when is craving something, don't deny himself but cut back the portion size. I will keep him in my thoughts & prayers. Hide the scale, it's EVIL!!! (LOL)
