Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
Barisaxylady replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ladies, are you all still getting in at least one protein shake a day? I swear, that is what makes or breaks you. My surgeons office says we should have one a day forever! Protein, protein, protein. You have to make sure you get your protein in. I slip up more than I care to admit but I always get my protein in. Plus, the exercise is so important. And this coming from the president of the "I hate to exercise" club! I do 35 minute on the elliptical every other day (for the most part). I hate it but I make myself do it. I also try and track all my food on My Fitness Pal. My name is barisaxylady on there too if you want to add me. We can do this ladies! We had MAJOR surgery! Work the tool the good surgeon gave you! -
Again, a day late, happy 9 month anniversary!

I'm a teacher too and took two weeks. I also walked the entire state fair 4 days post op so I guess I recovered more quickly than most. -

I'm sitting here at my support group and they keep reminding us to follow the rules. We are 9 months out and I think most of us, myself included, are possibly getting a little over confident. I'm getting the binder that my surgeons office gave me and am going to remind myself of the rules. The people I know who are 2, 3, 4 years out and maintaining still are following the rules. I want to maintain, I don't want to be one of those who gain it back. Lets commit to each other to go back to basics and remember the rules we were given and not just be a statistic, be the success stories! -
I Can't Wait To Not Have To...
Barisaxylady replied to BrickHouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmm. Can't remember when the daily noise stopped but I had a bite of my husbands burger last night and my stomach howled for a while over it (I've got to remember my sleeve doesn't like ground meat, it really was just a small bite to taste too!) and I'm 8 months post op but I'm sure everybody is different. As long as its not painful, I wouldn't worry about it. -
Happy 8 month surgiversary a day late all!

Hate to break it to you but your stomach will make some beastly sounds at the beginning, my husband and I would sit watching tv and bust a gut laughing at the noise my stomach would make! -
Help me with jean sizing please
Barisaxylady replied to amytug's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And don't even get me started with the new European jean sizing, I mean sheesh! The last thing I want is to wear a size 30! Lol -

Women's clothing sizes are just out of control. And it doesn't get any better when you get into the smaller sizes either. I actually was able to purchase some capris in a size 4. Imagine my elation after my tight size 22/24 last summer. Then the next pair of jeans I had to buy were a size 10. WTF?! Here's a kicker. I finally got my box of "skinny" jeans out of storage from 15 years ago (mostly 10s and 12s) and they either fit or are a little snug. Double WTF?!?! But then again it dawned on me, there was no such thing as size 0 or 00 15 years ago. So did they just rename all the cuts and my 4s are actually 8s? My advice to everyone is the same that I am trying to follow, doesn't matter what the scale says or what the tag says, if you feel good and you think you look good, that's all that matters. -

MsDrea, I know exactly where you are coming from with the "I can eat what I want and still loose" it scares the hell out of me. I recently put on 3 pounds and it scared the crap out of me. I got rid of two of them but I want their friend to leave and take some more with. I'm also right with new grandmother in the cookie issue. I wish I never tried them again, because now I know I can eat them without issue and one unfortunately turns into 4-5. Then I regret it. One thing I tell folks fresh out of surgery is not to even try the bad stuff again. Better to think you still cant eat them then to know you can and have to stay away. -

Does anyone have a strange lump on one side? Mine is under one of my incisions. It's about then size of an egg, doesn't hurt but when I bear down, it's noticeable to the naked eye. Only on my left side. Going to call the surgeon tomorrow but am wondering if anyone else has this before I call. Keep up the good work y'all! -
So excited! Normal BMI as of this morning!

Proud to report that of this morning I have a normal BMI!!! -
Are you still getting a protein shake in a day? I start every morning with a Nectar Fuzzy Naval protein shake with strawberries. Lunch lately has been Greek yogart and dinner a chicken thigh or pork with mashed potatoes. I also snack on mini baby Bel cheese and those 100 calorie packs of chips a couple times a week. I'm No saint, when I pick My strawberries up from Wegmans in the morning a chocolate croissant more often than not finds it's way into my cart but I really believe these indulgences help keep me on track and the scale moving. I'm down 105 pounds with about 7 more to go.

Any September People

How do I find that thread? -
Hard to believe its been 7 months already! Scale read 151 for me this morning which is my surgeons goal for me (I'm sure his scale would read differently!) I want to be far enough into the 140s so I can fluctuate a few pounds and always see a 1 and 4 as the first two numbers on the scale! Lol

I'm right there with you on the shopping. Isn't it nice to turn stuff away because you don't like it, not because it doesn't fit?! It was really hard for me to stop going into Lane Bryant. All those stores at the mall and I had no idea where to start!

Barisaxylady replied to BarbsTrying's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
September 25th here. Starting weight, 257, day of surgery 237, current 155. 4 more to surgeons goal (my scale, I'm sure more on his, lol) and 7 more to my goal. Hit a bit of a stall right now but Hopefully it will start moving again soon. If not, I can live with my 155 and being a Size 8/10. -

I was sleeved September 25th too! -
My surgeon Never said anything to me about bougies and it's never come upon my support groups so in totally in the dark about that one. 6 months out, 101 down and almost at goal so it really doesn't matter at this point.

Officially hit the 100 pound weight loss mark this morning! Couple this with fitting into a size 13 JUNIORS yesterday, I'm one pretty stoked lady! Started pre-op diet at 257 at the beginning of August, had surgery 9/25/12 at 237 got on the scale this morning at 157! Surgeons office scale has slightly different numbers but I go off my own scale. Six more to go to surgeons goal, nine more to mine. Had six month post op appt last Friday and was told again I am doing as well as a by-pass patient. Now comes the hard part of hitting goal and surviving summer vacation (I'm a teacher) including three weeks in Wildwood (beach in NJ) and a short cruise in August. Bathing suit and clothes shopping has been so much fun! Best thing I've ever done for myself!

I truly can't believe I am the same person! Thanks everyone for your words of praise. Used correctly, the sleeve can work wonders!

I got into a size 13 JUNIORS yesterday! Keep up the good work! I'm going zip lining this summer in Canada. Funny thing is I have a fear of falling! Lol
