Question for Those 1 Year+ Out

I am 13 months out from surgery and I usually have 1/2 cup of granola and yogurt for Breakfast, A piece of fruit, some nuts or Protein bar for snack, A small piece of protein, small portion of veg and a carb for lunch, cheese and crackers, or fruit for snack, A small piece of protein and a veg for dinner (no carb) and then popcorn, granola or cheese/ slice of meat for snack. I drink throughout the day, still never with a meal nor 30 minutes before or after. It has become just a part of my life to eat this way, I am allowed to have 2 Desserts per week as long as I use it as one of my carbs. If I go over my intake for a day, then I adjust the next day and limit my carbs and focus on protein. I do weigh myself every morning to keep on track. (I know some people cant handle this but it does help me) I also exercise every day and as long as I am exercising, I can eat more throughout the day. If I have to stop exercising for some reason then I cant eat as much. By your year anniversary, it will be old hat to you. Yes, there are days that I wish I could have just one more bite but it isnt the end of the world and I would much rather not have that extra bite and be labeled now as thin, skinny and slender. SOOOO Worth it! Dont get discouraged, just look up some fun healthy recipes and dont get bored with your food. There are lots of great recipes out there that taste delicious! Just because you are losing doesnt mean you cant enjoy your food. Good luck, keep up the great work!

    Puking Vitamins

I have taken the gummy vitamins since my surgery and I always take them with something on my stomach. My other pills I used to crush after I had my surgery for a while until my dr said it was ok to swallow. Hope you can get it down one way or the other!

First goal met - 6 little dogs!

I do the same thing but now I look at it in 50 pound luggage that I could check underneath the plane! I have lost 2 of those!!!! You put together what I have lost and the 60 pounds that my husband has lost and we have lost an average sized man! haha Keep it up and keep thinking of it in those terms. No wonder our bodies hurt and it was hard to do things! I cant imagine how I did it! Good job!!!!

Welcome. Ask lots of questions, do lots of research and be prepared. It has been a wonderful journey for me and just do what your dr and nut say and you should do great! Once again welcome and look forward to seeing your progress!

    Do anyone snack sometimes

I have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and snack. Just make sure they arent bad for you snacks. It is easy to fall into the cracker, cookie, chip habit so do not do these unless you have really good self control. I only have protein bars or granola one in a while when I am in a hurry or in an emergency situation because I could get used to eating them. My nut says that I can have a desert twice a week now but only if I dont eat 3 carbs that day, it has to replace one of my carbs, but only twice a day. That is what my nut said for me to maintain my weight.
  7. I like numbers too! Cool date to be sleeved!
  8. Yep, just eat slowly and when you begin to feel a little uncomfortable then STOP, do not take another bite. Soon you will be able to know about how much you can eat and you will automatically stop before it is uncomfortable. And yes, it is hard when you just want one more bite not to take it but every time I have done that, I swear to myself that I will never do it again, just isnt worth it. Just take it slow. Now is when you are beginning new habits, do your best to put your best food forward.

    Having trouble with my meds

I crushed all my pills too at first. Before you know it, you will be able to take them normally or better yet, not have to take them at all!

    Blue jeans

Great! What a wonderful feeling. I live in South America (Peru) and we are coming back for Christmas. I have been waiting and waiting to come back to the states to buy new clothes. I am finally to my goal weight and I am wearing some very baggy 10's and 12s. (I mean embarrassingly baggy clothes) I have no idea what size I will be once I get to the US but I am really excited to find out. Hopefully I will find some good deals because I have to buy a whole new wardrobe! YEAH! Good feeling. Keep up the great work!

How long before you saw your weight loss?

I made sure that I took Pictures before and each month on the same day in the same outfit and it really made a difference when I would put them side by side to see the progress. It looks like you are only a few days out so if you havent taken pics I suggest that you go ahead and do it. It isnt fun but I promise that it is something that you will appreciate having later. Also go ahead and take measurements. You are going to do great!

    Ladies HELP!

Wish there was a whistle button on here! You look great! Dont wear a sweater that will overpower and cover you up. Pretty pretty!
  15. Great job! Isnt it great to see how far you have come! Great attitude too! Happy for you!
  16. I eat it every couple of weeks. I do notice that my weight doesnt move as much when I eat it several nights in a row but my weight doesnt go up. It is nice to be able to go to the movies and have a little now and then. It was difficult during the first few months when I wasnt able to eat it when we would go to the movies. Just dont rush things, only eat things when your nut and dr say you can and you will do just fine and eating popcorn before you know it!
  17. I know you are! Just hang in there, this is literally the hardest part! You can do this!!! Just drink and walk and get your mind off of it as much as you can! It wont be long! You can do it!

    9 days after surgery

I promise it will get better! And you are right, they have no clue. If you begin to feel tempted by what they are eating, get away from it, let them know that you might have to resort to going for a walk (which is good for you anyway) take a bath or reading a book. Make sure that you don't get all grumpy and mad at them because it is easy to become bitter for a while since they dont get it. But honestly, they are just doing what they know to do. So, chin up, things will get better, once you start seeing the changes in your body and once you start getting to experiment with solid foods, it will get easier. Once you can start eating a little bit more normal foods, you can begin to cook with your diet restrictions in mind and you all can eat the same thing. There is a website Skinny Taste and she has some great recipes that my whole family love to eat and I can eat as well! Just keep on doing what you are suppose to do and just wait and see! Before you know it, things will be looking up! Good luck~

    Very close to goal!

I reached my goal about 2 or 3 months ago and was surprised at how easy it was to just maintain. I have since decided to lose a little more weight, because I can haha but if you do what your dr and nut advise you, you should be fine. I did find it was a bit disappointing to step on the scale for a while because I was maintaining and not losing, I decided I wanted to see the 120's so I lost a couple more pounds, About to start maintenance again. Congrats! I know you are so happy!
