Joisey01 got a reaction from ladiJ in Complete Success!
I had my EGD this morning. The final step before being sleeved next Thursday.
All went extremely well this morning. No problems at all. Cleared for surgery.
Not sure what juice they used on me today, but it was pretty potent. I came home and slept it off for 5 hours. Still feeling sluggish, but doing very well.
Six days to go. The liquid diet has allowed me to drop a total of 15 pounds. Another 15 would be wonderful, but I'd be ok with another 10.
Let's get this party started!

Joisey01 reacted to Fun size in Had My Sleeve At 61 1/2!
Thank you so much for this post. I am 61 and will be nearly 61 1/2 when I have my sleeve in November. The sleevers in my support group tell me it will be easy for me. I've had two C-sections, breast cancer and a hysterectomy. I have 100 lbs to lose. Aside from the usual reasons for losing weight (health, feeling better), my retirement has led me down a few paths with a media following. Thus far, I have been dodging the camera, but the spring has some television and newspaper events that I won't be able to dodge. I am the director of a nonprofit that will open the first dog park in our area, In addition, I belong to a philanthropic group that supports womens' charities in third countries. There will be a documentary (for our organization) made about the trip I will take in the spring to some Indoniasian countries to observe first hand the progress of our charities. If I had to present myself to the public as I look today, I wonder if I'd be so involved.

Joisey01 reacted to SleeveDreamer in Had My Sleeve At 61 1/2!
I had my sleeve on 12/14/11 when I was almost 61 1/2. My bd was in June nd I turned 62. I am no longer on any medication and feel better than I have for years. I went from a size 18 to 4 jeans. You are never too old to be healthy. I hope people who really need this done, will realize that age is not an issue. I only had 55 lbs. to lose but it was all in my abdomen headed for my heart and in a very dangerous place. Who knows what would have happened had I not had this surgery. I also had some repair done to my esophagus at the same time from some damage from some reflux surgery I had in 1999. I feel my VSG surgeon saved my life. I never had any pain or complications, never was nauseous, and never had Hair loss. i am truly blessed to have been able to have this done. Good luck to anyone over 60 who is thinking about having this done. No regrets here. LOVE my sleeve!

Yeah, you were right, no biggy at all! I came home and slept for a hour or so but have since been catching up like you on the shakes/water. I'm still amazed at how fast it was over. I got in the room at 730 and woke up around 745--doc was already talking to hubby. The hernia part did surprise as I have not had any symptoms whatsover; the Doc wanted to do the EGD just to know what things looked like before the surgery...now I am really glad he did--no surprises now. Thanks for the input!!!

Hey, my EGD went really fast this morning! I do have a soar throat. I was told next week the Doc will be repairing my hiatal hernia he discovered today. The anesthesia they gave me burned quite a bit for like 15 seconds and then I was out.

Joisey01 - I will be with you on the 20th. The liquide diet is going better than I expected. I was traveling all week so just shaking up the Protein Drinks and not enjoying them but as soon as I got home I made one with the blender. What a difference! Felt like I was drinking a DQ blizzard!!!

I want to:
be off all of my medications
fit in an airplane seat without infringing upon my neighbor's space
walk to my heart's content
not sweat to death after picking up something off the floor
to have my husband be able to put his arms all the way around me.
It's the simple things in life.

LOL BrickHouse! I've had one before. It's not bad at all. Now if you added colonoscopy to it, then I'd head right to the shrink.
