  1. Hey Susan - thanks for your encouraging words, and you are right! How are you doing? How has the journey been going for you?
  2. I am in NJ too - started soft foods yesterday, thank God because I had no idea how I was going to puree anything. I had made a yummy broccoli Soup the day before the storm hit and it went bad Sleeved on 10/11/12 Pre-op appointment weight 278 Weighed today 255 I am still trying to figure out what my hungry feels like and what my full feels like. I go back to NUT on the 14th so I look forward to going over my menu with her and seeing what she thinks. Hurricane Sandy derailed my walking for a few days, but tomorrow back on the daily walk I go!
  3. I find that my sleeve doesn't like cold that much (shakes are fine, just other liquids) so I have cut out ice and am drinking closer to room temperature.
  4. I was sleeved on the 11th - pureed stage through Wednesday. I am so sick of it. I am also getting really tired of the Protein shakes - 1 in the morning, 1 at night. I have tried had farina, one egg with a bit of mayo, ricotta with mozzarella and herbs blended. I constantly feel on the verge of nauseous. Not really nauseous but just funny. In the morning I wake up and I don't feel like having anything but I have my shake. I am still trying to figure out what hungry feels like. I haven't "cheated" on anything and I am only mildly tempted by other foods but I just want to eat normal again. Sigh! I am also tired but not necessarily sleepy tired just worn out. I have been walking around my block every day (won't be able to do that for a few days with Hurricane Sandy here). I am not 100 percent sure I am getting in all my protein, I am getting close but maybe missing the mark a bit. Good luck to all of my 11 sleever friends!
  5. Week three post-op for me. Down 18 pounds so far. Still have burping and heartburn. I feel like I am able to drink my shakes a lot faster than I was last week, that scares me. I had one egg with a bit of mayo yesterday for lunch and almost finished it. That scares me too. I am afraid that I will not have enough restriction and I won't lose. Last night I had some SF pudding because I had my shake earlier in the evening. I wasn't hungry but I just wanted some pudding. UGH! I guess I am just second guessing myself because it seems like it has been "too easy" so far. I just hope I am doing everything right. I still get tired some days, but overall I have much more energy than before surgery.
  6. The eating slow thing is tough! I thought I was having my soup slow last night but ended up with heartburn so I gotta slow down even more. It's bad enough the bites are teeny tiny but then to have to wait so long to get the next "bite" is a bit frustrating. Keep it up, you're getting there!
  7. Hey Susan, I was looking for you. Glad things are going well. I had the same back pain after surgery, They said from laying on the hard table for surgery. Moved over to full liquids yesterday and had my first heartburn but it is so nice to have something other than broth and clear liquid protein. So, what are you doing, clear liquid, full liquid?
  8. I had my first check in with the doctor today. Everything is progressing fine. I feel good and am especially happy to progress to full liquids. I had some clam chowder (just the soup - no lumps) for dinner. Looking forward to starting yogurt and protein shakes tomorrow. Down 10 so far.
  9. Every day you'll be able to sip more liquid, that's what I have found. Good luck and I hope the nausea ends soon!
  10. Had my sleeve done on Thursday 10/11/12! Was the last surgery of the day...that was torture. First day my back really hurt when I took a deep breath, but that is better. Tired and a bit weak. The clear liquid protein is GROSS! The most I have been able to get down is about 20 gm. I am having the grape today and it is the best one so far. Haven't had a bowel movement yet but my NUT said to wait 24 hours off all pain med and if still none then start taking miralax. So we'll give it one more day. She said as long as I am getting in 4 oz of fluid per hour she is ok if I don't get the full 40 gm of protein this week. I think I will be able to finish this grape isopure today. Have been walking but feel kind of claustraphobic in the house. Maybe feeling a bit sad? I think mourning the loss of the food, but certainly excited about the future. I work from home and so I am going to try to do a little bit of work today. Glad to be here on the loser's bench with you all!

    October Sleevers?

I had my sleeve on the 11th. Not until like 5pm! (That felt like the longest day ever). Came home Friday around 4pm. Am doing well other than tired, tired, tired. I haven't been able to get the full amount of protein yet. That stuff tastes nasty. Yesterday I had 1/2 a SF ice pop, about 24 ounces of SF fluid and about 20 grams (I think it is grams) of liquid protein. Today I will try to get more of the liquid protein. I am still having some belching and gas but no nausea. I just feel strange. I have changed my body, I can't undo it now and that is weird. I don't regret doing it because I know I needed it,but I wondre will it work, will I be okay. I work from home and think I will even be up to getting back to work this week. Happy for that. I am tired of watching television and sleeping. But the sleep just comes so quickly. I think I ended up w a cold as well. I had a stuffy nose the day fo surgery and was just praying that they wound't cancel me but when I woke up I saw that I have a cold sore on my lip and am still a bit stuffy. So I am taking my temperature consistently to make sure there is no problem. Well onward and upward! Got to change my ticker at the bottom now! anybody else have a update? And good luck to those going this week!

    October Sleevers?

I was calling every day.....so glad that I didn't have to change my date. Congratulations on the weight loss with the pre-op, especially after the cruise! I got lucky that I only had to do one day before surgery of liquid diet. So no weight loss here but I am sooooo ready. Looking forward to hearing from you after your sleeve!

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Hi, I am Sue. I am 46 years old, two teenage daughters 16 & 14 and hubby I have a date of October 12th but waiting for approval from insurance. Will be having surgery with Dr. Noyan in New Jersey. I am a transcriptionist by trade and a SAHM by heart (but not pocket book) and I work from home. I sit at my computer for literally 10 hours a day, so I have become extremely out of shape besides the weight I need to lose so I plan to start walking slowly but surely. I am 277 and hope to lose 110 pounds.

    Oct Sleevers

We are going to Bahamas and Grand Turk. Carnival out of Bayonne New Jersey. This will be my daughter's first cruise (16 and 14 years old) so we wanted to be sure we didnt' something that would have fun stuff for them to do (as with my weight I am definitely not as active as I used to be) so we thought this was a great opportunity. My husband and I love cruising, you can't beat the price, that is for sure! Have fun!
  23. Getting to the point of not wanting to go place and do things....275 pounds. I am tired all the time, in pain all the time, dread going out because I am tired. Scared of doing things because of my weight. Also having that problem with difficulty wiping myself (so horribly embarrassing). I just can't take it anymore! Scheduled for surgery 10/12/12 haven't gotten my approval yet but only have my presurgery appointment left.

    Oct Sleevers

I am scheduled for October 12th. My insurance hasn't been approved yet, but all my appointments are completed (except for pre-surgery and last nutrition). I am going on vacation (a cruise - yikes) in the middle of September so had to push surgery out to October. Nice to meet you all.
