    Albany, New York....?

I walked a ton of extra steps and ate less and better last week... And only lost half a pound! Grrrr! But two new pairs of jeans in another size smaller say I am still shrinking. The dog adoption is happening April 19! We're so excited to be bringing her home!

Kris, there would be something wrong if you weren't nervous! You are taking control of your health and your future and that's huge. You are going to do great! Julie, you're doing amazing! By the way, my name is Penny. I would recommend chopped salad to start with, just so you don't have trouble with any big pieces of anything. I love salad. I had an episode today with granola, so I can safely say I won't be trying it again any time in the near future! It was terrible. I still feel woozy. It was a textbook dump. Dizzy, shaky, lightheaded, nauseated, cold sweats, palpitations... it was terrible. These things happen. I'm not quite 4 months out and I am still learning. Anyone heard from Kyle lately? Is he still in the hospital?

    Albany, New York....?

<Tap, tap tap> Is this thing on??? LOL - It's quiet in here... here... here... Well, after an almost three year hiatus, I went back to work this week. I am working downtown on Elk Street from 9-2 and I love it. It was a great week. I walked the concourse a lot and dropped another three pounds this week, bringing my total to 60 pounds since surgery! A couple weeks ago, I saw a courtesy post on a local dog adoption site about a blind pit bull and I fell in love. I couldn't stop thinking about her. My daughter and I went to meet her yesterday and she is amazing. She was born without eyes so she's never known sight. She has no idea that she's different. Things are looking good for us and I hope to bring her home to be with us within the next couple of weeks. There's a process, especially with a blind dog, and we're using the help of an animal behaviorist/trainer.

Although it goes against common nature, I've heard that if you increase your calories by a couple hundred a day, you can kick start a loss.

Okay, I'm getting a little worried about you, Kyle. Check in with a sistuh, will ya?

Ugh, Lemanski is tough. I wouldn't go through all that again for anything. Ten pounds can be easy with low carbs and lots of Water. Or, as in my case, with Type 2 diabetes and lots of insulin, it can be nearly impossible. He pushes a Mediterranean-style diet, but ten pounds in a couple weeks will be tough. I'd recommend low carbs and lots of water. No cheating. As soon as you begin eating carbs again, your liver will fill back up with glycogen and you will see a jump on the scale. So no carbs until after he weighs you. By the way, I had surgery 12/11, I'm down 55 lbs (probably more) and I'm no longer diabetic. :-)

Stupid stomach! Sorry you have to go through this, Kyle. And they discovered all this because you had such great success... That's just messed up. Glad they found it before it caused any serious trouble, though.

I had my 3 month check today. Everything was SO much improved! My A1c went from over 12 to 6.5! My glucose went from high 300s to 113! I am down 53 pounds and I even went to the gym today! I had to keep my momentum going today since I won't be able to MOVE tomorrow! LOL! Kyle, glad you are going to see Dr. T. His staff is very helpful. I dealt with Nick a lot. He was great. Chelsea is new, but she is also very helpful.

When I was cleared, Dr. T. was booking about 8 weeks out. I was cleared in late September. I hadn't heard anything so I called Nick a couple weeks later and he scheduled me. I had my surgery in early December. Dr. Lemanski was, hands down, the worst part of the entire process for me. I had a very long road to get me to my surgery (see my signature) and much of the waiting was due to him. I had about half a dozen visits with him before I was cleared. Each visit took about half a day of waiting in his office. He's a smart man and likely a good doctor, but he totally rubs me the wrong way. I am 11 weeks out and his office recently called to schedule an appt. with me. Yeah, NO. I will never go back to his office. I see Beth Wyman, who is a dietitian affiliated with St. Peter's. It's all part of my follow-up and covered in full by my insurance. Best wishes to you!

If you're willing to check in with another hospital's program, Dr. Trivedi with St. Peter's is amazing. His whole staff is great and he is very experienced.

I love the cat tattoo! How adorable! I also plan to get another one (I just have a tiny flourish on my ankle) once I'm at my goal weight. Probably something to do with a butterfly for my transformation, but maybe something symbolizing strength, too. Feeling a little better each day. Still feeling tired and I know I have to start expending some energy in order to get some back. I ate some chopped salad tonight from Subway with turkey breast (no dressing) and it was so good. I'm 11 weeks out and the pieces were chopped small. But I could eat quite a bit of it, so I'm thinking it may be a slider food for me.
  20. While I'm waiting to be sleeved, I constantly look forward to being healthy and slim. There are many daily reminders of why I decided to embark on this adventure. We've all had moments where we think to ourselves, "Oh, I can't wait to NOT have to do this anymore!" For instance, having to "go by feel" to buckle up your seatbelt in the car, having to wake up to turn over in bed, sweating continuously... What are some of yours?

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...

This turned out to be such an awesome thread with so much sharing and camaraderie, I am BUMPING it! Many of us are now post-op. Have things changed for you? I ended up with RNY (not sleeve) on December 11, 2013. I am crossing many things off my list. It feels great!

Kyle, you look awesome! Keep posting those pictures! You don't just look smaller, but you look so much happier and more ALIVE! I had a great time yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics taken. I have to make a point to do that soon. I hope to just get out and try some stuff on this week and I'll take some pictures in dressing rooms! LOL! I'm not used to being the subject of photos, so I don't really think about it. But I do need some progress pictures to keep me motivated! Last year, I started a thread on here called "I can't wait to NOT have to..." and I see there were a couple "likes" to some of my old posts... I'm off to go re-read some good stuff!

Getting ready to go to Siena's last regular season basketball game with my hubby. I'm gonna wear a pretty blouse that was gifted to me, skinny jeans and awesome brown suede boots that actually have heels. I am gonna be cluckin'! Bock BOCK!!! Haha!! Will try to have a photo or two taken. Look out, Kiss-Cam!

Awe thanks Brick!!! How are you feeling? Feeling a little more human. Trying a couple different protein choices: hard boiled eggs, Hormel chili with beans... and they all seem okay, in small doses. I want to get back to a little more activity, but I'm still feeling tired. Soon enough!
