JerseyGirl68 got a reaction from judysbabies in I have to swallow what?
I crushed pills, but I mixed it with a small bit of sugar free chocolate pudding after surgery. Pudding was on my list of Full Liquids.

JerseyGirl68 got a reaction from NewBeginningsForMe2012 in Surgery In 3 And A Half Weeks , Scared To Death
I'm in three weeks also. I am so sorry he scared you, no one should have to be more nervous based on some comments. Keep reading about others' experiences, you'll see percentages are in your (our) favor for a smooth surgery. A professional is trained to run a line into anyone, so if you have to get stuck more than once, ask for someone more experienced. You have had blood tests right? I was never told I was a "hard stick" until my endoscopy. Turns out the nurse doing it, while very nice, wasn't the most experienced. The next nurse told me "Of course this is a little harder, you haven't had anything to drink in 10 hours, you're dehydrated." and poof, she got the line in no problem. There is nothing wrong with letting them know you are anxious before they start prepping you.
Like I wrote earlier, read some more. The positive experiences far outweigh the negatives.
You will do fine and they will manage your discomfort.
Good luck!!

JerseyGirl68 reacted to LinSmargiassi in The Other F Word....
I find it so informing and frankly, so interesting to hear how the stories of us who are overweight/obese are as varied as our lives and challenges. We all got here differently - no matter that the math is the same, you know what I mean?
I think I'm an emotional eater, but I'm not sure. You know how people go out and celebrate with a dinner at the close of a successful project or effort? I've certainly participated in that often enough, but not like having a party of one or anything like that. I do often notice though that I fly out the door without thinking about food and then I'm out and it's like, "^%! I forgot to eat"! So I end up grabbing something I shouldn't most often... a chocolate shake or a diet coke and sandwich. I never drink sugary drinks, ironically - but then i'll have a chocolate shake for a meal. That just doesn't work. So, I lack the ability or desire to plan. I don't want to think about food. I don't love to cook and I don't want to be in the kitchen for hours on end.
I do, however, want to go parasailing, snow tubing, ATV'ing, and sky-kiting during my lifetime. Last year I had to have a total knee replacement, and within the next year I may need to have the other knee done (in addition to this sleeve surgery) because I have a devastating form of Rheumatoid Arthritis. That surgery was EXTREMELY painful and the pain lasted for months because of the way it had to be done on me. I'm thinking this surgery (VSG) will be easy by comparison, but getting my mind to cooperate is going to be the challenge.
Thanks for all your input. Mucho appreciado!

JerseyGirl68 got a reaction from kristikay in Me And The Cowardly Lion... No Wonder I Liked Him So Much.
I can sooo relate to eveything you wrote. I have never had any type of surgery, never had an IV until I went for an endoscopy for this surgery. I hate the unknown and have tried to read everything, and watch every video I can find. Even a full lenght surgery just so I could have an idea of what was going to happen.
My surgeon eased my mind a great deal when she told me that because of the surgery, when we eat we wiill feel full and satisfied. Because the hormone that makes us feel hunger will be drastically cut down we shouldnt' have the same physical feelings to eat. The emotional is a little trickier, head hunger is powerful, but with this uncompromising tool I think we are all off to a much better start than with a diet. I am determined not to compare my losses to anyone elses and come back to this forum for answers, support and encouragment as much as I need.
Good luck!!!

JerseyGirl68 got a reaction from dee.jay.bee in Humiliated
I'm never quite as surprised as I should be regarding the ignorance of some people. Peacequeen is right, some things about people will never change. No one should be made to feel badly at the hands of another. You are in the right place to get this off your chest. Nothing like a few thousand people knowing exactly how you feel to maybe make it a little better.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Some people can be so cruel. Just look at it that you are taking steps to change and that lady probably won't ever change her sad sorry self. From looking at your photo, you look like a beautiful lady..keep smiling and don't let that experience get you down.

JerseyGirl68 got a reaction from sheila2050 in So Frustrated!
Letting it out when you're frustrated is good for you. You picked the right place to voice what you're feeling. I am sure everyone (or most) have felt the same at some point. Reading about everyone's ups and downs helps me prepare for what may be to come, the good, the bad and the ugly.
You'll get there! Stay positive!
Good luck!
