Amber'sJourney got a reaction from 920amy in Mexico Hospitals - Differences In Equipment And Staffing
Hi, I was at Mi Doctor in TJ. A nurse put in my iv and it was great- as in I didn't feel a thing! I've had quite a few iv's and it was a really good one. It also healed up much faster than others I've had after it was removed.
I never had to call for a nurse, they were in my room every couple of hours injecting meds into my IV. Other than the gas pains, I wasn't really in any pain. When I woke up in recovery there was pain but that was dealt with quickly- when I called out and looked up there was a nurse prepping a syringe to inject in my IV.
Language was not really a problem. Most of the nurses spoke some english and if they didn't and I had a question they would go get a nurse that spoke better english.
The Dr. checked on me everyday. There was also a night shift Dr. that came to check in on me.
I am posting a review tonight. Please read it It's much longer than this. Good luck!

I was quoted $4700 with Ready for a change and $4500 with A Lighter me. So I paid less by going with a lighter me. My experience was that A lighter me provided much better service. The hospital and doctor was all the same but if you are alone you will want someone to check on you often and not just tell you to have the front desk call your coordinator if you need something. I was also given a bag with supplies so I don't know what happened with the person that didn't get anything. All of us got a bag. We were picked up in a nice van and the driver Abraham was very attentive.

He does three leak tests. One while you are still in the OR. Then the blue barium drink/drain test, and last the chest xray.

So I just saw dr! She said it was an internal stitch that it could take up to a month to completely dissolve! I'm 3 weeks out and she said to keep massaging it!!! I have not tried the spanks yet but may when I return to work on Monday!!

Ok so I'm 2.5 weeks out and other than this speed bump I feel great!!! One of my incision sites... On right side ( not where they removed stomach) is killing me!!! Getting up from bed/chair sends a shooting pain! It's not really superficial it's def more deep! Also happens if I move certain ways! Hard to shave legs or bend down period! As I sit here on couch writing this its just a constant burning pain! Incisions all look great especially this one! Not infected or hot! Anyone else experience this???

I am leaving tomorrow for TJ. I fly into San Deigo in the evening and I will get to the hotel late. I know there are lots of people that would like more feedback on Dr. Lopez, so when I get back I will post a detailed account of my surgery with Dr. Lopez. I would have liked more feedback when I was doing my research. (But I didn't find any negative). I also confirmed that he was a Lic. Surgeon in Mexico.
I'm on day two of his required pre op fast and doing well. Yesterday was challenging. I think tomorrow I will be too busy and nervous to care about food! I also did 10 days of a pre op diet and so far I am down 9 pounds! Yay!
I'm excited, I'm nervous, I'm second guessing myself but I am sure I need to do this!

Amber'sJourney reacted to sleevednow in Researching Ready 4A Change -Dr. Garcia Tijuana - Anyone?
I too just had surgery with Dr. Garcia but went through A Lighter Me. The hospital is new, very clean and only 2 years old. Some of us there signed up at A Lighter Me and some signed up with Ready 4a Change. Some had surgery, me, with Dr Garcia and some had surgery with Dr. Lopez and Dr. Osuna at the same hospital.
This is only my opinion but those of us that went through a lighter me got better service. We were visited many times at the hotel and the driver took us shopping and to Walmart, because someone wanted to buy some sweat pants. Abraham and Eduardo drove us back and forth to and from the hospital. We didn't have to use the hotel shuttle like the others. The people with the other company were almost ignored.
But we all hung out together so we all supported one another. I'm sure if someone had a problem they could have called the doctor and at least he would have come to help them.

Questions are good. The key is patience. It is weird not to be able to drink Water at will the first month or so but it returns to normal after that. I never got sick and have never thrown up once since I had the surgery. Once you find out the amount of food your sleeve will allow and you go over it, it is an awful feeling and it is a lesson learned. The key is have the surgery and start your healthy new life. I wish I would have had the surgery years ago, that is my only regret. I am as healthy now as I was in High School. You can do this. My main advice would be do extensive research and not just on the forums. Talk to the surgeons, talk to past patients and get their perspective and ask them alot of questions. Check with the Board of Medicine in Mexico on ACTUAL death rates. Believe it or not, everything you read on the internet is not factual.
    Good Luck on your journey.
