erp reacted to OutsideMatchInside in anyone who had DS after vertical sleeve?
Are you going to Northwestern, University of Chicago or Loyola?
I would go with DS over Bypass.
At this point DS still makes the most sense and since you didn't react very well to the sleeve the first time, it seems like you need DS or SIPS.
If you are going to have another surgery might as well go all the way with DS, it has better weight loss than RNY and the Sleeve.
Who did your original surgery? Did anyone off you any reason why your sleeve stretched? A properly formed sleeve should not stretch. Have you reached out to that Dr?
And yeah being pregnant probably affected your sleeve. If I have high waist pants on, I can hardly eat with my sleeve. I can't have any pressure on my mid torso to be able to eat. I can only imagine what a baby would do.
There are fewer long term people that post here as of late and I can't think of any regular poster that went from sleeve to DS but I know there has to be some.
    Good Luck!

For me, shoppping became fun when I discovered I no longer belonged in the plus size section. Actually, it was mystifying at first because I had been plus size for so long, I had to learn how missy and junior sizes worked. Once I got the hang of it though, I became quite the shopaholic for a couple of years. I would recommend starting with an aspirational outfit. Splurge on something you wish you could wear (it's your birthday after all), buy it two sizes smaller than you are now and hang it someplace where you can see it. Then keep trying it on as you lose weight, it will not only help you stay ontrack and give you something to look forward too but it will also be a great night out when you wear it.

Stats are stats...we can follow them for general ideas of how we might end up, only. But every body is different. I've heard of people having heartburn before the sleeve and not having it afterwards too. I've heard of people not having heartburn before and having it after. Or having it pre and post op. I am pre-op sleeve and I deal with acid reflux based on what foods I choose. I haven't had it for a while, since I've made better choices. Who's to say I'll have heartburn after the sleeve or not? I do take stats into consideration though. I've always dealt with the reflux so it's nothing I can't handle although I wouldn't want to. But I'm having faith that I won't have to after my surgery either.

We've come to the conclusion that you'll need to delete the BaritricPal App and then reinstall it from the App Store. Once you done that, you should be able to login as normal.

Please let us know and thanks for your patience!

Similar to Jon's recipe above. Favorite recipe from my nut:
    High Protein pudding:
    16 oz. cottage cheese
    1 package sf pudding mix
    1 scoop Protein powder
    4 tbsp ff milk
8 oz. ff or sf cool whip
Mix first 4 ingredients in food processor until smooth, then fold in whipped topping. Chill and serve. 20-25 grams of Protein per 1/2 c serving.

I found very few true haters along the way. Turn the tables and imagine if you saw someone drop weight at an incredibly fast pace beyond the usual lore of 1-2 pounds per week. You would probably comment as well because our transformations are shocking. Everyday on here people post things like, "5 months out and 70 pounds gone forever!" That's not typical for most people and if no one knows you have an extra tool to attain rapid weight loss, why does this surprise you? In the end, I got my fair share of "you don't need to lose anymore" comments but it was never with any real malice, there was occasional jealously once or twice, but mostly just curiosity and true amazement at such rapid change.

I'm not on here much as most of you are pre surgery or going through the weight loss process. I do pop up now and then just to let you know what's doing in terms of living life post WLS.
I'm four years post surgery and have been in maintenance for about 2 1/2 years. When I do come on the boards, I see posts about what to eat, what not to eat, how much weight has been lost, how much has been gained, and other similar topics. When I was in the early stages of my weight loss journey, i read and posted alot regarding those same issues. Now that I'm further out, I don't focus on the details...I just focus on living my life as a normal sized person with all that entails.
I just wanted to post these two pictures to show the new folks that you can be successful with weight loss. Know that while I'm smiling in the before and after pictures, I was not happy in the before shots because of the issues surrounding my obesity. Also know that I have been, and am still in therapy to address my food addiction and the root causes of my obesity. It's my path and know that I'm not advocating that this should be part of yours.
Again, I'm here just as a reminder that once the newness is over, the weight loss is done, and the emotions settle down....this is the reason I had the surgery. It's about health, mobility, and living my life rather than watching from the sidelines.

I just brought this up with my nutritionist the other day because I shared the same concerns...

She says that is a fallacy. She says you don't reset your metabolism, the reality is, your body gets smaller and therefore requires less energy. She says to determine your daily resting calorie burn and don't eat more than that or you will gain weight. The smaller you get, the smaller the number of calories you will expend naturally, hence the illusion of resetting your metabolism to a smaller number.

I was more afraid surgery wouldn't work for me and I wouldn't lose rather than that I would gain it all back. I didn't lose as fast as you did so I had more time to adjust. I highly recommend seeing a therapist and joining a support group to work through your unresolved issues with food. There are just too many regain posts and cautionary tales on here to ignore. Thank you, I think its great that you made this post. I am more than certain that others do share the same fear that you do. The surgery did its part on the physical and now you have to do yours on the mental.

Thanks for posting this. I think you tapped into a fear most of us have.
You are about a month ahead of me. I can already see how those old bad habits are trying to sneak their way back in. Open the door a crack and there they are. I know I will have to be on my guard the rest of my life and I'm ok with that. And hey, it the zombie apocalypse ever happens, my old eating habits will help me survive!!!
My strategy is that every time I feel myself rationalizing or deluding myself (oh, its a holiday...oh, it's just this once...oh, i had a bad day...oh, its not fair, everyone else gets to eat), I say my mantra, "I don't do that anymore". It's been really empowering because it reminds me that this was my choice. It has stopped me in my tracks a few times.

Thank you for being so supportive as many of us not only lack support but often have friends and family actively discouraging us.
As your hubby hits major milestones, new experiences are a great way to Celebrate.
For me that included becoming more active as I regained mobility. I did an indoor skydiving session, something I would never have done at my pre-op size. Similarly, going on amusement park rides or doing other previously size-limited activities are a wow. I did a 5k not because I love jogging/running but just to finally experience it...to be able to say, "I've done that". So what are things your hubby can't do now that he wishes he could do?
Shopping for new clothes was also a reward. The experience of shopping for a new pants with smaller waistbands is exciting and even foreign as you get out of the big and tall section and into the mainstream area of a store. For example, I bought a special outfit for my birthday that was smaller than my current size and saw it hanging it up knowing the reward I had for hitting that new lower weight. I didn't care that I may not wear that outfit 100 times as I continued to lose weight and it became too big because for that one day, I felt so special not because I wore a new outfit but because I earned wearing that outfit. Obviously for your hubby, he may care nothing about clothes but hopefully you can see that it was more about the accomplishment. So what is meaningful to him regarding how he presents himself? (Or maybe it's you buying something sexy for him to enjoy? )
Finally, Celebrate things that aren't weight loss related but are health enhancing. Celebrate tossing out medications. Get a massage to help with the lymphedema, hire a personal trainer for a few sessions at the gym or whatever is appropriate. Again, it is wonderful that you are so supportive. Good luck on your husband's upcoming surgery.

To all the newly post op, please see Super Bowl Sunday for what it is...one afternoon. One afternoon that you tell yourself, no to booze and junk food. Your sleeve is for the Rest of Your Life (assuming you don't eff it up). Stop acting as though one afternoon is unbearable. Pre op, you most likely had a two week liquid diet; that was 14 days and you did it! Now you are 3, 4, or 5 weeks out and you can't handle one afternoon? The wants you are listing- alcohol, tortilla chips, and fried chicken- are what put us on the operating table to begin with. Why let one afternoon get you twisted? Stay the course now so you can be a success story later.

    Indeed.
I remember the psych evaluation in which "an eating disorder had to be ruled out" before being eligible for WLS so of course I insisted on not having an ED but secretly I only thought:
"Dude, if I didn't have an ED I wouldn't be this fat".

Wow, I just read some of these and it feels like how I was years ago. I went to a eating disorder clinic for bulimia which I conquered the bulimia only to end up trading it for binge eating which is not good (trading another bad habit for another) either and it seems I should go back but can't because I am in the process of doing the health insurance thing all over again. So I seriously hope to get through everything and be a much happier and healthier me, I think this life change is a good one but a very stressful one. The last time I was super skinny was between 10-11 and ever since then I would yo yo between pants sizes. I feel the effect of bulimia really bad, I started when I was 9 years old and been on and off of bulimia ever since and just conquered it recently (2014). I just want to get rid of my binge eating for good and just eat healthier and stop doing this bad stuff to myself. Okay, that's all I have to say.
