  1. Has anyone been having excessive discharge post-op? Not an excessive amount but just frequently. I notice it on a daily basis. No offensive odor or anything, just happening regularly...

  2. Thank you JoJo! I am seriously working on a business plan to do just that, but wanted to test my market first :-). I have had a few people tell me the same thing, adn to be honest, for a while, I felt like a "failure" - being and RD and having to have the surgery. But it was a very dear friend of mine who is also a RNY patient who pointed out that I would be a gret resource. And then my wheels started turning lol...

  3. It's been 12 weeks today since my surgery and I've lost 44 lbs. Very happy about that. But I'm just frustrated today. I'm tired of Protein. Tired of only being able to eat 1/4 c at a time. Have lost muscle mass because I can only eat so much and drink so many Protein shakes. Am I sorry that I got the sleeve? NO, but sometimes the adaptation is a challenge.

    Thanks for letting me vent!

  4. Hey My Fellow August Sleevers...just checkin in to see how everyone is doing, esp. my August 28th sleevers. How are you feeling? How much are you able to eat now? Exercise? Any issues?

All is pretty good with me. Down a total of 38lbs from my pre-op weight. I think I'm slowing down a bit, but not stressed about it. Finally go to my 60 grams of Protein just last week, but still only at about 40oz of Fluid a day, but hey, I'm a work in progress lol!

Started working our wiht my personal trainer last week, and whew! I am out of shape!! I'm sore as I don't know what, but in a good way. I'm determined to gain back some of this muscle that I'm sure I've lost.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

  5. I am almost 7 weeks out and am struggling with this as well. It's almost as though I know I can only eat so much, so I'm trying to pack as much in as I can. And I pay every time. I have a constant feeling of something being "stuck" in the middle of my chest. So I am working consciously on slowing down at each meal...the discomfort/pain is just not worth it.

  6. I had my surgery on 8/28 in Albemarle at the hospital where I work. So far, everything has gone textbook well. The first 2 weeks are hard, and I am still having trouble getting in.all my fluids and Protein, but its getting better day by day.

Some days I do wish that I could eat a little more, but then I have to remind myself that I'm only 4 weeks out and what my reasons for having the surgery on the first place are.

  7. Chicago...you have just quoted my story as well. 45, never married, no kids. Was just sleeved on 8/28 and am down 30 lbs so far. But I too am looking at this as a brand new beginning - ready to live the next half of my life, and not jsut exist.

And the description of the type of man that you are looking for or hoping to be found my mirrors mine to a "T". I too, have always settled for what my low self-esteem allowed e to think was all I was worthy for. But I know that I am worth more than rubies and that that man is out there...for you and for me!!

Thank you for posting this!! LEt's keep in touch!

  8. I am doing relatively well. Was sleeved on 8/28, and have lost 23 lb since then. 29 including my pre-op diet. I am, however, strill struggling to get in all of Water and Protein. I am drinking 4 oz every 1/2 hour. It's finny - I was exactly 4 weeks post-op yesterday, and it was like a swtich was fliiped and my sleeve said "you may now eat 1/4 cup of food comfortably". So hopefully, this will help getting in my protein.

I am walking 30-45 mins 5 days a week. I had a small hernia repair, so that's all my surgeon has allowed thus far. But I go to see him tomorrow and I'm hoping that he lifts that because I really want to start lifting weights so I can tone up and gain a little muscle back.

I also have a little dark discoloration around my incisions, but have started using Vitamin E oil twice a day. Gonna get soem Mederma tomorrow (payday lol!) and see if it helps.

  9. I was sleeved on 8/28 so 4 weeks today. Including my pre-op diet, I am down 28 lbs. Highest weight: 222; DOS: 215.6, and as of yesterday morning: 194.4. I was holding at 198 for a few day, and I guess I broke through over the last 2 days. I knew that stalls are common around 3 weeks, so I didn't freak out. I know that the weight will come off.

I'm on soft foods - eating a lot of tuna, refried Beans, lentil and black bean Soups (pureed), baked ricota. I still drink a Protein shake in the morning and on my commute home, and am still having trouble getting in all of my fluids. I too hover around 40-48 oz per day.

  10. Great topic shellbll125! And I have you beat by 10 years, so I win the right to be depressed lol!! But seriously, I am almost 3 weeks out - sleeved on 8/28, and I'm down 24 lbs...not enough to make a huge difference yet, but I feel more confident. I feel like I am ready to discover the real me. And yeah, have a few...OK, a LOT if dates lol, but I feel like I will choowe much better because I don't "have" to settle.
