  1. Hannah, once I started trying to get my Protein in the tummy noises calmed down a lot. Now I can sense when I need to put something other that Water in my tummy, like SF Jello, SF Popsicles, Protein Drink with ice, or broth. I agree, nothing I can have seems appetizing, but the rules are the rules, so I'm determined not to play that mind game. Even though they may not sound appetizing, they are the only options i have, and they often taste good once I try them. Try different flavors of broth-I found vegetable and turkey are my favorite. Maybe you need a trip to the store to find something that is more appealing? Remember, this is short-term, and our bodies must have protein to heal properly. You can do this, I know you can!

    11 Days Off Work Enough?

I just had surgery 4 days ago,and while my body feels well enough to return to my desk/manager position on Monday, I still feel like I need more time to get accustom to my new lifestyle. I am taking 2 weeks, and I'm certain that that is plenty of time for me.
  3. I did this last night with liquid. ;( I'm only 4 days post op and I was trying to finish all of my protein drink...because, by gosh it protein and I need my protein!!! Anyway, I felt a lot of pressure in my chest and I knew I had gone too far. Fortunately a few deep breaths got me through it. I'm so nervous to move to mushies, as hungry as I am I'm afraid I'm going to over-do it.
  4. Hi Seelessofme! I had a lot of gas in my tummy the first two days, so when I would put anything in my tummy it cause a lot of pain as the gas made room for the liquid. I also had a hernia repair, so that may have contributed to the pain in my lower esophagus when liquids went down. I started taking tiny, tiny sips and that helped...the bigger the sip the more it hurt. My throat didn't bother me, it was lower. Im doing fantastic now, PTL! pills are the only thing that give me problems, but I expect that to get better too.
  5. It should get easier every every day, so give yourself time. I had surgery 8/1, and swallowing anything hurt like crazy until yesterday. Today is the first day I will meet my liquid and Protein requirements since surgery. Once I started writing everything down I could see what I needed to work on and where I was lacking. Having log keeps me motivated and also helps me see the progression of my tummy healing. Good luck with your sipping!
  6. Oh, me too honey! Friday was rough, yesterday a bit better, an today much better! I can finally swallow liquid without feeling like I'm swallowing water. I fee so much better today, I haven't needed to take any pain pills yet! Well, you are beautiful, and he's as art man to notice! I am with you on the growling, I have no earthly idea how to figure out what my tummy needs. I think it will just be trial and error in figuring it out. It reminds me of when my first son was born; he would scream and cry and I would keep trying things until he stopped. That's how it is for me and my new baby tummy. I think I'm starting to be able to figure out what some of the rumbles mean. How are y'all doing with liquid and protein??? My mission today was to work hard at getting my numbers in. So far I'm at 26 grams of protein and 50 oz of liquid. Yesterday my numbers were horrible, due to swallowing issues an painful gas. I'm now counting down the days until I get to move to full liquids!!!! 3Days!!!

    Back Problems Cant Sleep

I came home yesterday and I slept on my side right away. I hope you are able to get comfortable soon.
  8. Yep, it here and it happening...Tomorrow at 6:45am my sleeve adventure begins! I'm 100% sure that I want this, and I'm 100% sure this is the most nervous I've ever been about having a medical procedure. I think the difference is that a lot of the success of this procedure rests on my shoulders, with past procedures I I had to do was rest and let my body heal. That will happen this time too, but the long-term success is totally defendant on my compliance with the diet and exercise program thats been laid out for me. I'm still excited, but now the enormity of the decision I've made is in the forefront of my mind. I will do this and I will find success this time, and I feel so blessed to be taking this step toward living a healthy life. Today I had my EGD and they confirmed that I do have a hernia that will need to be fixed tomorrow. The EGD was a breeze! I went back at 8am and I was headed home by 9am. I've been very lethargic, probably a combination of now being on Clear liquids and a bit do a drug hangover. I will arrive at the hospital at 6:45am tomorrow and they should begin my procedure around 8:00am. As soon as they get me back to my room and I'm able, I will post an update to let you know how it went. Let the adventure begin!!!!
  9. Wowser, yesterday was rough! I got home from the hospital at 1:30pm, and I was still very bloated from surgery and uncomfortable. For some reason all of that gas wants to be released with burps, and with the hernia repair that causes some pretty painful pressure-hopefully that will end soon because it really hurts! Oh how I love me some Gas-X! I also had some nectar Protein as soon as I got home, and it became obvious my tummy wasn't quite ready for that yet. As long as I stayed away from liquid Proteins, and only drank Water and broth, the cramping was manageable. I think my total was around 30 oz. maybe not too bad for my first day??? My swelling and bloating has gone down considerably and with that so has the pressure pain. Now if I could just take a sip of liquid without feeling like I'm swallowing rocks I think I might live. Last ***ht I had some water go down the wrong hole and I thought I was going to drown!!! A little dramatic...maybe...but between trying to get the water up, and the 5 gallons of saliva that I had to choke down for said drowning event I was a little freaked out for a minute or two. LOL!!! All in all I'm glad yesterday is over, because it sucked. Today I'm just going to focus on non-protein liquids and maybe to***ht I will try my Nectar again. I'm going to try sleeping too..hahah! I went to bed at 8 but only slept off and on, decided to just get up around 12am. I'm also ready to be less irritable!!! Man, I'm so irritable and impatient right now that I just want to be alone with my bad self. I'm sure the fact that we are moving and closing on our house next week isn't helping either. Talk about timing, huh? Oh well, in a few more days things will be much more calm and peaceful.

    Huge Nsv..in A Small Package

  11. I started my liquids an hour ago and I'm having the same issue. Water goes down, and a painful air bubble comes up. Hopefully it's only temporary!

    Did It!

Hi friend! I know what you mean on being sleepy--I can't keep my eyes open, and I only sleep about 30 minutes at a time. It will be much better when we goet home. I passed my leak test and I'm working on getting my fluids in. Have you been able to drink yet?
  13. I and my leak test this morning and passed, so it's on to liquids. I was so,so glad to finally get to take a sip of Water. I've got my little 1oz cups that I'm supposed to drink every 15 minutes, and I'm sipping of chicken broth in between. The liquid going down is a a weird sensation, and each sip is followed by a little burp. I'm not in a ton of pain, but I definitely am tender and achy. When my belly feels all "crowded" I get up an walk, something about standing up straight seems to relieve the pressure. If all goes well I should be headed home by 1:00pm.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Girls, we are about to kick the month of August off in style! I can't believe how many of us are going tomorrow, I do believe that August 1st might be our biggest day. Fr those that are coming along behind us, be prepared for a roller coaster of emotion the last few days before surgery. There will be excitement, anger, frustration, happiness, sadness, determination, bitterness, hope, disgust, cravings, anxiety, assurance and fear...but each day is doable if you keep your eye on the prize. I'm going to start a thread so you guys can follow me through my recovery if you want. I will try to update tomorrow afternoon once I wake up and I'm able to make some sense. For the rest of you that are scheduled this month, I'm praying that your recovery is smoothe and pain free. Sending all of you great big hugs!
