  1. This is my fear... I'm a week away from being a month out.. and down only 14.... No one seems to have an answer for me either... Ugh. I'm sorry that you're losing slowly. I can commiserate...

    Protein/fat/carbs Ratio

Oh wow.... 1000-1200? I was sitting below 800, because that is what my surgeon told me... 800 or under, 80g protein, under 50g carbs... I'm stalled in week 3 though too.. LOL I'm going to try your route!
  3. I looked into the band. I qualified for it through my insurance... I paid CASH for the sleeve, because I didn't want the band. I didn't want the potential for complications, the pain in the rear of the fills, and the substandard results that were so frequently reported with the band. The sleeve is new as a stand alone bariatric procedure, but it has been used for decades to treat cancer and ulcers. My own great grandmother had it done in the 80s for cancer, and she was just fine for her entire life, and died of natural causes at 98, after a very healthy life. I'm pleased with my decision for certain.
  4. The cami style is like when you wear a little tank top under a lower cut shirt. The bra has a built in cami look, so it will look like you have on a sequined tank top, but you only have to wear the bra. Its great for people who hate layering... like me. There is the Cami bra and two of the dresses still available. I'm listing some 20 pants and some shirts soon.
  5. Am I the only one experiencing this? When I start a new topic, it is fine, but when reading threads, the last few posts are all messed up in the ads, which have all piled up on eachother in the bottom center. There is not option to respond, or if there is, it's under all of the ads. Is there a way I can fix this? It started suddenly, about 2 days ago.
  6. I was on a pre op diet, which I followed religiously... and gained on. My surgeon said it was ok, that the diet was meant to shrink my liver, not specifically for loss.
  7. My dad always does a huge spread for easter. Besides Thanksgiving, it's the biggest food holiday of the year for my family. I'd usually glut myself too... but this was my first sleeved holiday too. I took a tiny dop of mashed potatos, a little medallion of ham, a plain roll, and a little bit of cottage cheese. I sat down and my BF asked if I was going to be able to eat all of that. I realized that even though I was serving myself sleeve portions, it was still too much. So I had a samle of everything and it was done. I tossed half of my plate. Later I did have a tiny sliver, about 3 bites of my dad's from scratch chocolate cake. It's my favorite thing in the world. It tasted amazing, but those three bites were plenty. Too rich for me now, though in the past I would have had a huge piece. I feel victorious!
  8. I'm struggling too... I'm 3.5 weeks out, lost 14... I've been stalled for days... then I'll lose 1-2, then stall again. Meanwhile, the others that had surgery on the same day (March 22) are reporting 25 lb losses or more! It's so not fair and makes me sad and worried and afraid that I did this and will still be fat...then I realize that it would have taken me 2 months to lose 14 lbs before. It's important to remember that some people lose slower than others... I just wish I were not one of them. I get it. I really do.
  9. I agree with you 100%! My question is this: your capacity is more than mine... I can manage about 1/4-1/2 cup food total right now and sometimes that is even too much. It's a pain and I'm hoping my capacity increases a little in time. I'm 3.5 weeks out. Was there a time that you had that level of restriction and then gradually increased capacity? I would rather be able to eat in your quantitys, because it's a struggle to get enough of anything in because I get so full!
  10. weight before sleeve? 258 weight After Sleeve ? 244 How many weeks is your sleeve? 3.5 weeks did you start to gain weight already ?( hope not)No, losing slowly though with frequent stalls.

    Scared

Ah ok, I'll calm down then. Like I said, band to sleeve makes sense... randomly having sleeve for a 30 lb loss.... NO! I'll go mother hen elsewhere... LOL

LOL and you really do have to RUN across the road, because they aren't stopping.... heck, half the time there aren't even lines on the roads! The traffic circles in downtown TJ are a terrifying place! LOL

The Fat Trap: Is Vsg An Escape?

Great article, I hadn't seen this before. It made me angry too, because I've always known that my metabolism is not normal, that I need far more exercise and less calories to maintain a much higher weight. I can't count the number of times I brought my failures to my doctors, begging for an answer, praying for a thyroid problem, anything to be a reason... and they just accused me of cheating, lying.... said to eat less and exercise more when I was already eating 1000 calories a day and not losing. It all makes alot of sense. The thing that gets me is if these things are known, why do the doctors still preach the "calories in, calories out" mantra and deny that some people may have a legitimate metabolic issue? GRRRRRRRR!!!

    Scared

Please reconsider. This scenario scares me too! You do not need weight loss surgery! I would question the doctor who agreed to do this. The only time I would say someone as small as you should consider the sleeve is in a band to sleeve revision. Please think about this.

    Scared

I mean no offense, but you really are too low BMI to have this surgery. It will impact every day for the rest of your life, and shouldn't be undertaken unless it is a last resort. Have you tried other things and failed? It just seems extreme to lose only around 30 lbs. Most folks are trying for at least a 70-100 lb loss or more. I'm just curious about your reasons.

    My Story So Far (Long)

I was exhausted too until I went on mushies. Luckily, that was week 3 for me. My energylevel went up alot, though I'm still stalled. (Since end of week 1.)I still tire easily, but it's improving.l I at least have hope for the future. I do think I'd feel alot better if I could start losing again though.

Finally - 8 Week Stall Is Over! (I Hope!)

OMG 8 weeks? i would have been going out of my mind. Here's to hoping it's over for you! I'm only 2.5 weeks out but have been stalled since day 4.... no loss. It's really hard to eb excited when I'm not losing, so I do ndertand.
  18. Yay! I'm glad you like it! I was almost crying to see them go, I loved those dresses. It's nice to know that they will be in good hands.

    Any World Of Warcraft Sleevers?

I used to play.. back in Vanilla WoW days. The expansions have gradually made the game not fun anymore so I don't play now. Waiting for the next thing to come, hoping it will replace WoW. Didn't like SWTOR either....

    Not Losing Weight

LOL Thanks! We have to laugh or else we'll cry eh? My coordinator keeps calling me to encourage me to drink more Protein shakes and Water.... I'm already doing everything she tells me to do, but she just can't believe I'm not losing at all. It's very nice to know I'm not alone, but I really hope this doesn't last much longer. I know it's probably not true, but it is in mymind thatmaybe my metabolism is just so slow that this won't help, and it'll just keep me from gaining more.

    Not Losing Weight

I have the same sleeve date as you and I'm only down 11. I'd be over the moon if I were at 30! I lost that 11 within the first week and nothing since. It's frustrating. My boyfriend says he can already see differences in my figure, and I can wear a ring that is very precious to me again so I know something is happening. I'm clinging to my non scale victories right now, because the scale makes me want to destroy my bathroom "Hulk smash" style, every morning!

    Oldest Sleeve?

My grandmopther has the same procedure, basically due to stomach cancer - in the 80s. She's still going strong, spry, healthy and independant... ay 88 years of age. I have no concerns. LOL

    Help.

This happens to me once in awhile. Sip alittle water. It'll be hard, but it will dilute the contents of your stomach alittle and let them pass through quicker. That will get "the edge" off and then you'll feel better. My experience with being too full (Of eggs, cottage cheese, and oatmeal so far) is that with the water trick, you have 30 minutes..... It's hard to figure out when that last bite has been taken.
  25. Yes, excellent! I was shaking me head, wondering this same thing. My "woosh" was today. LOL I can't stay out of the bathroom! At least now when it happens again I can chortle about my primitive body self and let it do it's weird little song and dance without letting it drive me nuts with the waiting.
