  1. My digital scale changes readings if I move it around on my tile floor! I hate that thing!

Can't Believe I Just Ate All Of That!

Different foods "slide" for different people. Pintos and cheese must slide for you. LOL My sliders are yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal and chex mix!

Thinking My Surgeon Has Lost His Mind!

Woah. I donno about that! I was on clears for week 1, full liquids week 2, mushies and softs on week 3, and just started solids on week 4. I find that I can eat pretty much anything except bread and sweets, which makes me slime. (and this is goood, because they are my downfall.) I was told that at week 4, I could do non caffinated diet soda if I like, but that I must shake it up repeatedly until it is fully flat. I do this gladly once in awhile to get to have some diet grape soda or some diet Vernors! I'm soooo sick of water and crystal lite! The water is yuck now, and the crystal lite leaves a weird aftertaste...
  4. I have it too. I was told that it is reactive hypoglycemia. When I eat, my body responds with too much insulin and then I crash. There's really nothing I can do about it. Carbs and sugars make it MUCH worse. Irarely have this on pure protein. The hope right now is that it will normalize as I lose weight, as it is a pre-diabetes symptom.
  5. Well, while you certainly could sabotage your success with the sleeve by bad choices, there is not way for it really fail. It reduces your stomach size to a tiny amount, only a few ounces. It's pretty hard to fail when your capacity is so limited. You have no choice but to stick with it. If you overeat, or in my case, eat something really fatty, fried, or sugary, you WILL puke. Once you've done that a few times, you quickly fall in line. It sounds like he doesn't understand that the surgery isn't just another diet. It's a tool against hunger, and by it's sheer tenacity and limitation of size, it prevents us from sabotaging ourselves. I would invite him to research on his own. That is what I had to do to get my BF and mother onboard. I also went to Mexico so I had that battle to fight too. Now that I'm sleeved a month out, and losing weight, they are singing a much more positive tune.
  6. You are right where I am with your sleeve dat I believe? Like end of March? I've lost almost 20 lbs, so your loss is OMG. I have a good friend who had a very high starting weight as well. She lost almost 100 lbs before other started noticing the change and her clothes sizes changed. It'll come, you just might have a longer journey than other. How do your hands look? ankles and wrists? Face? Those are the places most people see it first. I know I'm scrutinizign myself daily to see some sign of loss. No one else notices yet, but I can see it and my clothes are much more comfortable! It'll come!

    Bc Pills

I take BCP for hormone replacement. I was told to keep taking them and even took one on the day after surgery since they are such a small pill. No one seemed worried about blood clots...
  8. Yeah, it was cold when I went too.. in the 50s. I wore a stretchy top peasant skirt, tank and hoodie and was very comfortable and still felt presentable. I can't wear sweats out of the house. My mother beat into me that it was bad! LOL It was my concession to fashion and it worked well for me. It was freezing the whole way home too. I also was not outside really ever the whole time. I went from airport to van to hospital to van to airport.
  9. I took a flight with a layover in between and I have to say it was a good decision. I originally did it because of the price difference, but man... being able to get OFF that plane for an hour at the halfway point and walk around, use a real toilet, and buy a hot tea was the best thing I could have done for myself. Just something to think about. I did use the wheelchair service, and i didn't feel pointed out. It was a big golf cart type of thing, not an actual chair. I also paid the $16.00 for the insurance, but didn't need it. I think the chances of needing it are so small, that it is not worth buying the expensive changable ticket. It also should be said that I left a day earlier than most, and flew on day 3 with no real issues.

    Worried About Weight Loss

I wish I had lost 25 lbs by now! I'm 3 weeks in too... only down 13. I lost those 13 in the first week and nothing since. I feel your frustration. Everyone keeps insisting that I need to just be patient, that this is a stall and I will lose more, but it's hard to do! Hang in there, it's scientifically impossible that neither of us will lose any more.

Anyone Have A Breast Lift/reduction Before Wls?

I would wait. With a chest as large as you have, you will most likely end up with enough left over tissue to get insurance to cover a reduction / lift after the loss. That's what I'm hoping happens for me, if mine don't survive. Of course, I'd rather mine just make it. LOL I think that you'd still have alot of sag though, even if you get it now.

    New Friend Issues.

I lost 50 lbs, and got about halfway to goal on a horrible restrictive and painful diet a few years ago. I'm pretty active in the club / music scene here in Detroit, and so I superficially "know" loads of people. It was shocking how many guys came out of the woodwork and tried to date me once I got down to that smaller size. Then, as the weight sprang back on, as it always does... off they went again. I was single then, and I used to tell them straight up, "I wasn't good enough for you before I lost weight, so you aren't good enough for me now". LOL That stunned them! Thankfully, I am with a great guy now so hopefully it'll be less apparant this time around.

Anyone Have A Breast Lift/reduction Before Wls?

I had a reduction from a 36I (Yes, I) to a 36C when I was 18, so...15 years ago. I was overweight then, and only alittle more overweight now, but they are currently a 38F. I lost weight before, about halfway to my goal, and they shrank to a 36D and looked awesome. I'm kinda afraind that the recent growth though will mean that when they go down again, they will go dowwwwwnnnnn... and down... and down. I'm hoping that when they are flat and saggy there will be enough tissue to justify another reduction/lift, so I can just have my natural breast tissue made into some nice Bs or something. I'm so sick of huge boobs...
  14. I would say, don't let the hell of the pre op diet make your decision for you. That said, if you are truly not ready, then by all means, do not go forward! It's a huge step and it's a lifetime of adjusted lifestyle. For me, it was the only option, because I always always always regained, no matter what. I was 100% ready, and I still had a rude awakening! LOL Make the choice that is best for you.
  15. I can eat about 3 oz, 3 weeks out. Weird that i can do so much more! It's about 6 small bites. I sometimes eat too much still, I have no sense of full and I struggle to slow down. I have found no option other than puke, but I've only gotten to that point twice now, and hopefully never again! For me it's an effort to be mindful. I used to eat very fast, and in great quantity. Now I have to eat slowly and in tiny quantity. I find I won;t eat something if it isn't delicious now.

    How To Break My Stall

I'm in the exact same boat as you. No loss. I'm so frustrated, I have actually cried.... lots. I'm trying to add more carbs and cut back on the protein. I'm afraid that means I will lose my hair though. My surgeon just said to up my calories. I push and manage around 700, he said try 900. I'm not really able to do that without junk because I get so full on only a couple bites. Hopefully more carbs will help me. Ugh. Some ride eh?

    Panic Mode!

It's really frustratibng hearing about people who have lot 3-4 times what I have in the same amount of time. I'm just sitting here, losing nothing, not losing inches, just staying the same. The only difference is that I'm eating about 1/8 what I used to and I occasionally get sick. So far, not a happy camper. It's comforting to hear that others are slow too, but at the same time, I wish none of us were dealing with it, because it is so hard to stay positive with no results.

    Slow Losers

I'm at the beginning of week 4... and I'veonly lost 13 lbs. The last two weeks have shown a GAIN of a pound a week. I'm doing everything right. I really think my metabolism is messed up. It's pretty heartbreaking.

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

My friend decided to do child led weaning too... Her son is 4 1/2... and still breastfeeding. LOL I think eventually you'll have to make the decision. That said, I'd be to paranoid about transferring opiates through the milk, but I'm not a doctor so maybe it does leave the system faster than I think it does.
  20. Yep - SLIME! I started getting it when I entered the mushie stage at the beginning of week 3. I get it if I eat the wrong things,or if I eat too fast, or too much. Usually I just throw up the slime, sometimes also the food... and then it's better. I'm slowly learning how to avoid it. It is normal, just really gross and uncomfortable.

Guess How Much They Billed My Insurance...

Yeah, this is why the American healthcare system is so messed up. WTF costs that much money? Seriously!

How Do I Let My Job Know?

I had a similar issue at a job. I was a probationary employee, and I needed surgery, though it was NOT at ll elective like VSG can be. They fired me. I filed for unemployment and stated straight up that I was a new employee and was fired for needing surgery. I got my benefits, but I still lost my job. You're going to have to decide if the job or the surgery is more important right now. If your insurance is covering the surgery, and you don't really care about the job, I say get the surgery.
  23. It is kinds scary! I know if I eat even a bite too much, I puke. Instantly. It's bad. I'm 3 weeks out, and I'm assuming its going to be like that for awhile. Hopefully your sleeve won't be as touchy as mine, but I would still try to prevent this from happening again. There are too many possibly bad scenarios attached to that.

    My Biggest Nsv To Date...

Wow, it sounds awesome! Good luck securing the new job! Awesome!
  25. Give it a try for awhile. If it doesn't work out, the sleeve will always be there. If it does, kudos to you! I got the sleeve because I always regain. If you have a solid plan to master regain, then I say give it a go!
