    Family Issues

I'm so sorry for you that your family is not behind you. I agree w what has already been said. This is why I didn't tell anyone but my 2 daughters. I just didn't want to hear any negative talk.....and we all know how people like to be Debbie Downers. I started "fessing up" after my extended family started commenting on how great I looked. So just keep that in mind. YOU are going to be looking FABULOUS down the road!!!

Life Can Be Normal. Even If You Travel

I love your comment about not making this surgery the center of your universe. So true.

    Need Advice

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. When I was overweight, my mom used to say to me, "take care of yourself, cause no one else will". This is your time in life to take care of you. Best wishes for your success. xoxo

    Regret

Give yourself time! I'm six months out in two days and so happy I did this! It's my "get out of jail free" card. I've almost lost 50 lbs and have a new lease on life. Be patient with yourself.

    Onederland

Congrats! It's a great feeling. I just broke my 180's. I hit 179 yesterday. My next goal is to be 168....the top of my "healthy" BMI. I'm lovin' the compliments, too!

Sleeve June 19 And Really Hating It.

I feel so sorry for you and pray you'll soon get better. You are the rare person that has problems. I hope you are talking to your doctor. You might need hospitalization for dehydration. Keep on the board for support. xoxo

May Sleevers How Much Have You Lost So Far?

Today is my 5 month anniversary. I've lost 43 lbs. These last 30 days weren't too good for me. I only lost 2 lbs. I've been more hungry and going back to some bad habits. I've got to get back on course.

Someone Slap Me, Please - Need Motivation!

OMG! I just got home from vaca and did the same thing! What's with the "vaca thing" that gives us a free pass to be stupid!!! Right now, I don't feel so good just because of some of the things I"ve eaten. My tummy is a bit rumbly. I leave again in another week for another trip. I better change my evil ways and get back on track.

    Stuck

Same here with the body changes and not pounds. Also, I've found if I just do a couple of protein shake drinks, it makes me start to lose.

    Snacks

Cliff bars. I love the Mojo ones....sweet and salty. Best price is Costco.
  15. This too will pass! For me, the first two weeks were the worst. After that, I started seeing weight loss and the light at the end of the tunnel. You'll feel sooooo much better just getting that drain pulled out! It made me feel so yucky and sickly. You are starting the "brand-new beginning" to the rest of your life! I have lost over 40 lbs in almost 5 months and can't begin to tell you how much happier I am with myself! I'm wearing a size 16! Yeah!!! I feel like my best years are ahead of me. This is coming from a "formally" depressed person. So, trust me, you'll move past this. These feelings are just temporary. Right now, you just need to rest and get your fluids in. Don't worry about food....or your husband. This is your time to do for yourself. God bless you and your new journey.....it only gets better. xoxo

3 Months And 2 Weeks Progress Pics

Wow! Your face and arms really show it! Keep up the good work! Your mid-section is a little hard to see with baggy clothing on. You also look so much younger!
  17. I paid $18K out of pocket. It kills me, but the benefits have way out-weighted spending the $$$. I agree what was said about I'll get back the money in the long run. I spent so much money on junk food and sweets! I was at the age that my health was going to start being affected, too. I had a friend who took out an interest-free loan for 12 months. Ask you doctor if he knows of any plans. We sure have heard some success stories about getting surgery done in Mexico, too. Best wishes to you. xoxo

    Oj

It's loaded w sugar. I won't drink it anymore. It's just not worth it. I have tried grapefruit juice that was artifically sweetened. It's pretty good.

Will I Ever Be Able To....

I can't believe it's only been 4 months for me being sleeved. It seems like a year ago! I drink out of a straw quite a bit.....yet don't do it all day long. I eat sweets rarely. That was my downfall. Fortunately, they sorta hurt my tummy now. But a small bite now and then won't kill you. You need to wait a year for alcohol. I have a friend who is 3 yrs out and she can only sip on a margarita and will not finish it. I have a cup of coffee every morning/w caffine and steamed milk. However, I wait at least 30 mins after I've had my egg so I don't wash away my Protein. Protein is a big problem for me. The best thing for me to do is track it on a phone app, "Lose It". I do get around 60 grams a day in regular food for protein. I probably eat a hamburger once a week with the top bun off. I can't eat the whole thing.....but it makes me feel so normal to be able to eat it.

    Losing Hair

I was sleeved 2/06/12. My hair is falling out, too, but not in clumps. I have a very hard time getting in even 60 grams of protein. My scalp is very dry, too. I massaged Moroccon Oil in it tonight. I take Biotin and Fish Oil, along w my multi-vitamins.

4.5 Months Out And Not Doing Well

Your stats are pretty similar to mine. I'm weighing 184 right now. I only get in about 600 calories a day. Still struggle to get in enough protein. When I'm at a stall, I start the day w EAS drinks. It pretty much shakes things up and I'll see a weight loss the next day or two. I rarely eat any carbs.....maybe 3 wheat crackers w cheese or the bottom of a hamburger bun w my hamburger, which I can't eat all of. You've got some good advice given here. Good luck ahead!
  23. I've only told about 6 people....trusted people. Sometimes I wish I hadn't even told them. When people ask if I joined WW....or how am I doing "it"....I just say that I've cut out anything white, no bread, sugar or alcohol.

    How Not To Scarf...?

Patrick, I am so happy for you to be having this surgery! You are a handsome guy and I can only imagine how you'll look like a "chick magnet" when you get your weight off. The best thing to do for yourself is to stay on this board and get encouragement from the rest of us. The biggest change in my life has been.......well, I have several......1. I'm getting compliments on how I look.....but that's not the most important to me....it's this one.....2. I have stopped the negative "self talk" and self-loathing. That's all because I'm not eating crap or overeating. So for me, it's a mental thing. You'll read on this board that it's "brain surgery"....not stomach surgery. We need to readjust our brains to this new way of life. Believe me, I DO NOT miss the way of life I had before. All the pluses from this surgery way outweigh what I was before. Sure, I'm never had 100+ lbs to lose, but being "fat" is fat, no matter how fat you are. You have a whole new life ahead of you! God bless you as you begin your journey. I'll be looking forward to reading about your journey. We are here for you. Slow down and enjoy the ride!
