    Getting Sleeved This Week

I am 4 days out and so excited to be on the other side... I prayed a lot and told myself that there truly was more to be scared of if I didn't do something to get my weight under control. All has gone so well my first 5 days and other then nasuea (but no vomiting just a feeling) the first 12 hours because I refused the seasick patch thing- due to 5 days of vertigo side effects it gives me, everything has been fine. Sore in the incision sites but nothing you would not expect. Liquids, proteins all going down fine. Excited for you ... such a long process and big decision to finally get to this day.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

saying a prayer now and then continuing for all of you who's big day is tomorrow. Excited for you to be on to all that awaits!
  4. My friend had a umbilical and hiatal hernia repair with her sleeve and I had the hiatal hernia repaired. Our doctor did it when found during surgery. My friend was told that her recovery pain would be increased because of the umbilical hernia repair but better to recover a bit longer from one surgery then to have to do two and recover twice!
  5. 4am wake ups..... whats up with that?

    Diehrea

yes check for sugar alcohol in your drinks... usually it is malitol or some other ingredient ending in -ol . They can produce gas and diarrhea. Working so hard to stay hydrated you do not want to let it go on too long.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

It is time to do this FOR YOU so that you can be healthy, active and enjoy life the way God designed you too. I was sleeved 4 days ago and it is so much easier then I expected. I have to admit as I lay on the table waiting to go into surgery I thought about running... but I had no idea how to get out of there and would have looked so silly in my blue hair net and matching booties and beautiful gray paper gown.... So I stayed there and no regrets! The doctors would not do a sleeve on you if they did not think you would benifit. Trust them... God is going to use them to help bring you the freedom you desire and He has waiting for you to grasp.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Have to agree with all this... especially the teeth brushing it is my favorite. Not sure why it is so refreshing but it has been the whole last 3 days since surgery. And the fall asleep thing too. The day after surgery all I did was sleep, walk, pee (from IV drip) and sleep some more, sending a text seemed taxing.... I just wanted to sleep. I have noticed that I am super sensitive to smells... I think it is part of the whole taste changing after surgery thing.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Hi all my august sleever friends! Home happy and feeling well day 4. Down 8 pounds since surgery day. I think I am one of those people who feel guilty because I didn’t expect it to be this easy. Liquids are not a problem (moved from medicine cups to Playtex toddler cup yesterday) http://www.target.com/p/playtex-coolster-tumbler/-/A-14126369#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink easier then the medicine cups just remove the non spill plastic piece. Pain in tummy where incisions are when moving but not when still so resting letting others wait in me, sipping and enjoying the Olympics! The tips on this forum were so helpful... although I was over prepared and did not need many of the items it was nice to know. Also the gas pains, gurgles, nausea etc. all info helped me know what to expect. I did not read anywhere about the patch for nausea they wanted to put on after surgery, I was coherent enough to refuse it. I had warn one on a cruise 2 months ago and had awful side effects. (7 days of severe vertigo after removal) So I was given Zofran IV and used the morphine pump the first 10 hours to sleep the nausea off. Other then that all seemed like what I had read.
  12. leaving hospital, feeling well, able to sip and walk so away I go....

  17. Cross over addiction is a huge concern as we give up our food addiction. This can be brought on by depression and emotional disorders so I would make sure you have a support network in place that is willing to confront you in love if they see you struggling emotionally and if they do don't not hesitate to get help. On the other hand... how depressing has it been to be so overweight!

    Food Funeral For Real!

I was with you last week... got my favorite birthday cake and ate about 1/2 of it over 3 days. Then 2 days later was liquid fasting to prep for my first surgery consult.... good thing because he gave me a cancellation spot that opened up for just 5 days away. Been behaving since but have had 6 months of funeral food so it's about time I buckle down. Wanted to break the carb addiction before surgery and that is done. A small bit of sushi tonight (final funeral) and then final regular food tomorrow.....liquid only on Tuesday and Surgery Wed. excited- freaked out- thankful to finally be here- hopeful for the year ahead

    A Day Without Cake

Thanks for your post and I am so excited for you and looking forward to that day and feeling for me.... Surgery in 3days and passed up cake and birthday parties the past 2 nights .... my friends favorite quote of mine "How do you like your eggs?" "In a cake with frosting." That is part of how I got here (WLS) and I have to say I am glad I am leaving.
