    Two weeks away

Northern lights I'm sure we will be fine. I've told no o e but my children and my brother and sister in law. My mother can be very negative sometimes, so I have decided not to tell her. I look at all the before and after pictures and can't imagine that being me. I've gotten so used to not feeling good and being too big and accepted it as life. But such an unhappy life it is. It's time to change and soon we will be looking back helping all the pre ops get through it. The same way we were help. Shake those nerves off. I postponed twice and regret putting it off for this long.
  3. I am officially 2 weeks away. I have gone through so many emotions. My worst fear was not being able to or knowing how to eat right and blood clots. But my mind is at ease and I'm ready. I want so bad to be happy, healthy and enjoy life. I have put off so many things because of weight. I am READY!!!!!!! May 28 here I come.

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Krystal0528, I'm in GA. I got the Atkins shakes. I had my pre op today. I loooove my surgeon. He is awesome and I have confidence in him and he has my mind at ease. The Atkins stuff is low carb high protein. It tastes pretty good. I also ordered the Ujury unflavored protein and broth.
  8. You don't have to tell anybody anything. If you say you ave change your eating habits and activity level that will not be a lie. If you say you are eating a whole lot less and it has not been easy, that too is not a lie. You can be as detailed or not as you have to be. I don't think it's anybody's business really. Nobody is concerned and asking how we became obese in the first place, so why should this be any different,

    So sad. worked so hard

Hmmm it's mental strength. I won't be sleeved until May 28th but I experienced it in my preop stage. I started three weeks ago and completely weened myself off of caffeine and carbs and sugar. The first three days were VERY VERY hard. I felt like a crackhead gone cold turkey. I had headaches, I was tired and I had horrible cravings. It was pretty bad and a struggle to get through. By the fourth day it got much better. The head hunger was pretty strong. But it is about choices. Now I'm doing well and can sit in front of cakes, sweets and chips without much temptation. Yesterday had Mexican for lunch. I had a 20 second moment when I wanted the tortilla but. I stopped, realized that my meal would fill me up and then the desire passed. I think we just have to think more about what we are putting in our bodies. It was hard but I am a lot more aware of it. I'm not gonna lie. It wasn't easy for me and requires a mental toughness.
  17. Awesome Maltese gal! Tonight I am compiling my list. Shopping tomorrow for the essentials. Gas X strips, Chapstick, stuff like that.
  18. Hoping that you are doing well. Congrats!

    So sad. worked so hard

Hi sorry to hear your frustrations. Head hunger is when you are not physically hungry but your mind tells you you want to eat. It's like craving food. So even though you have no need to eat physically. You still think your hungry. Hard to explain if you've never felt it.

Thank you for posting this. It helps a lot. I was at ease but I guess getting a little nervous as it gets closer. I think it's more anxious than nervous. But hearing everyone's experiences is help ful.

  25. Hello all, I would like to know from post ops, what helped you through your first couple of weeks. I know everyone is different. I know taste buds etc change but my surgery is in two weeks an I want to be prepared. I don't want to buy too much so that it is wasted but I want to by enough so that I can try things that may satisfy me (best protein shakes, bars, etc.). would also like to know if I should buy compression socks, a certain type of clothing like sweat pants, etc. all info is appreciated. Thanks guys. Learning from others is the best way.
