yep - I was a horrible witch and all I could do was rage at everyone and everything ! And 2.5 months post-op I still have my moments, but I'm controlling it much better (or so I think). I think it must be hormones plus this is a major change on many different planes: can't handle stress with food anymore, our bodies hurt and thinks we're starving it.

Sending you home with no pain meds or instructions is just wrong. It doesn't sound like this outfit is a Bariatric Center of Excellance. Please call them and request that they call in a prescription and give you some instructions !
Also, I don't know how you feel about this but I personally would NOT let this surgeon touch me again.

You know what's wonderful about the sleeve ? Even during a really bummer 8 week stall you COULDN'T give up ! Any other "regular" diet would have been trashed after a 2 month stall. Hooray for sleever victory !! woop woop woop !!!

@easye: if you can't tolerate ice cream, have you tried frozen yogurt?
I tend to be a "question authority" kind of person and although I am now old enough to know better, still, when someone tells me I can't do something I'll be danged, I just feel compulsed to do it. In some cases that has been to my benefit; in some cases, not so beneficial (i.e. speed limits). So, when the bariatric surgeon & nutritionist gave me guidelines about when to move past the liquid phase, I pushed it forward a week (no problems, felt great) and so on for each stage. And by golly, I have had zero problems or issues and feel that my VSG was a complete success and is doing exactly what I wanted it to do - I didn't expect it to cure my issues with food but just to limit the amount of food I could consume.
Maybe that's the message we need to tell the newly sleeved and the gonna be sleeved: it only limits the amount of food you can eat at one time. Period.
disclaimer so I don't get roasted alive: these are my opinions and my experiences

I'm 5'5", started VSG journey at 344 Feb.'12, am now 260. Was wearing 28-30W or 4X, now wearing 3X but everything is baggy (hate spending money for naught).

hahahaha... sorry, it's just funny that the words are actually being censored. Anyhow, I am 56, have had total knee replacement 3 times (right knee was screwed up the 1st time), a foot rebuilt, and I don't exercise at all. Yes, I am stupid and lazy. I've also been dealing with surgery & chemo & radiation for uterine cancer so, weightloss has kind of taken a back seat. Even so, I have lost a LOT of weight in the past 11 months and I am so happy that I got the sleeve. I don't think I would have had the strength to deal with all of this if I was still 100 lbs heavier than I am now. So, the weight will continue to come off and exercise if you can when you can. You will just start doing more the more weight you lose because it doesn't hurt to walk or stand any more!

Spatters3 got a reaction from VSG AJH in Vsg Has Literally Saved My Life (May Be Tmi)
I have been post-menopausal for 5 years. I had started spotting off and on a few months before my VSG but after surgery I have been having a full-fledged period like, every 2 weeks ! So... I followed my mother's advice (she's always right) and talked to my PCP about it. He didn't like the sounds of my symptoms and ordered an ultrasound. That showed that my uterus is enlarged and the walls were thickened. The PCP sent me to a gynecologist. She did a biopsy and I got the results today - I have endometrial uterine cancer. I now have an appointment with an oncologist and I'm pretty sure I'll be just fine (and lose more weight too !
If my hormones hadn't been stirred up by getting the VSG, I would have been content with putting up with the occasional spotting for a long, long time.... more than likely, too long.
So thank you Sleevie ! And thank You God !

Went to a restaurant last night and didn't have to ask for a table, just sat right down in a booth - no problemo.
Went to granddaughter's 4th grade orientation "blow out" at school and didn't even think about scouting out a place I could sit and rest.
Went shopping and playing and then more shopping and didn't feel like I needed to lay down to recover.
I think the key word here is "went" . I have been able to do so much more of everything !

I'm in D.C. and we have cupcake food trucks, too. Every time I see the pepto pink of the cupcake trucks I walk to the other side of the street. I'm not even a cake person, seriously, but the smells wafting from that vehicle tempt me every time.
I also dodge the cheesecake truck.
But Chapat Truck? Every time I'm around the area I stop for some curries or rasam...or even palak paneer. Ooh, or dosa! I can eat more of that than I should, thanks to the crispiness. Mmm...I think I need to make Indian food soon!
Oh, and food trucks are the devil and I'll tell you why: If I'm out walking around minding my business I want to be able to tell myself I'm getting some exercise. It doesn't work when every twelve steps I'm tempted by a long line and the luscious smells of food I do not need to eat. Food trucks make me into a hobbit and I find myself not only justifying $3 cupcakes but also eating second Breakfast and elevensies in addition to my normal lunch rotation.

The dots or pips are based on the number of posts you have. Here's a list of our Member Titles/Ranks:

We've been crystal clear that we do not allow topics created with the purpose to Rant and Rave about members. What exactly is so difficult to understand about this concept ? Susan isn't picking on anyone whatsoever and I'm getting a little tired with all the whining as of late
I would allow a total free for all in the R&R forum or across the entire forum for that matter....if we were an automobile forum. We happen to be a forum for people where a majority of them have been bullied, physically abused or sexually abused. I'm sorry but we're not going to help perpetuate the name calling, nastiness and hate.
