GEAUX SAINTS got a reaction from CanyonBaby in I'm Having a Breakdown
I was sleeved 2/3. I have gone through several stalls since then, one lasting 3 weeks. OUCH!!! I get depressed every-so-often, as well. In fact, I told my husband that I guess I was done loosing! But then, the next day, I'll loose 3 lbs. It will work...MAKE it work for you.
    Good luck to you!!!

I was revised to a sleeve 2/3. I've lost 26lbs & have 20 more to go. I haven't been that low (goal of 136lbs) in about 30 years. I got down to 147 with the band (2002). I'm only loosing one pound a week now, but I'm happy with that. Couldn't have done it without help!!!
Good luck to you! You're doing great!!!

I am working so hard to try to lose 100lbs by my 6 month check up that while I was talking with my mom yesterday I realized that from my heaviest weight I have ever seen on a scale (329) which was probably about 3 months before my supervised 6 month diet I am DOWN 101lbs!!!
This made me pretty happy, I am still plugging along and doing good but it's so funny how something just hits you!
I really love this Ah-Ha moments. Also at work yesterday I went into the break room for lunch and put my stuff down on a table and went to sit down. I noticed that where I was there was a chair with arms instead of one with no arms. Normally I would of switched the chairs around, but I looked at that chair and I sat down in it and had plenty of room. LOVE LOVE LOVE that!!! I still giggle out loud every single time I slide into a booth and fit just fine. My family thinks it's cute!! LOL
Hope this post finds you all having a great day!!!

This emotional rush is, in my opinion, NEVER gone over enough (if at all) with so many WLS patients, and the teams who are there to prepare us for this should really send this point home, as well as the hair loss, stalls...... I see a lot of touting the surgery for benefits such as the obvious weight loss, disease improvements............., but they don't seem to tell us what to expect that SOOOOO many of us endure following the surgery. Maybe they think it will scare folks off, but REALLY, we're made of stronger stuff than that!!! Just be honest, surgical teams, and lay down the goods (or not-so-goods), so we can truly prepare for the nasties that get to us following surgery. RANT over, for now!
Most of us have been through what you are going through, and it will pass. Get a BIG box of Kleenex (the really soft ones!), a few really good movies, a craft or two to keep your hands busy while watching said movies, and keep you computer on so we can be there for you! Bless you, dear one....

I've had both. I puked my weight off with the band...NOT good! Then the band failed me. Five surgeries later and I have the sleeve. It's like eating normally but only less. You don't get that "stuck" feeling and no puking!!! I love it!!!

I'm so relieved my doctor talked me out of the band. Seems like there are lots of complications. I'm 3 weeks post op with the sleeve and no problems at all

My best Protein friendly food was making Frozen popcycles
out of the nectar fruit flavors: chocolate truffle, fuzzy navel,
Grape with light grape juice. The crunch made me feel like I was
actually "eating". Much better than Jello!
Good luck and contact me anytime!

I haven't noticed it yet. I do know when I'm trying to decide whAt to make to eat, nothing is appealing. I've used a garlic/ pepper seasoning when I'm cooking but it hasn't been an overwhelming taste yet. Watch, now that I'm replying it will start bothering me lol

GEAUX SAINTS got a reaction from BLERDgirl in 8 weeks since surgery and I think I am flunking this test!
I was on a stall for about a month, going up and down 1 or 2 pounds. For that month that I was in stall hell, I ate from recipes found Pinterest on the sleeve recipe page. I'm almost 8 weeks out and I kinda went back to basics. I eat either a scrambled egg or cream of wheat for Breakfast, then for lunch & dinner, I rotate between chicken breast, fish, or canned tuna mixed with mustard, cooked in coconut oil spray. I also eat one Greek yogurt for dessert. As a result, I've lost a pound a day for three days. I can only eat 2.5 ozs. I tried 3, but I was too full. BTW, I started eating at 1 1/2 weeks out. I'm talking "meat", not mushy, strained, or pureed! REAL MEAT!!! I just ate tiny bites.
So, I had the band for 8 years, until it failed me, and now, I'm "working" the sleeve. I'm not gonna loose sight again! I'm gonna work it and not let it work me. The band was so much easier..if I ate too much, I'd puke. This is so different, but so much more "normal", to me, anyway!
God luck to all of you who are suffering with eating more. I would definitely consult my doctor if I were in your shoes!!!

GEAUX SAINTS reacted to CowgirlJane in Band to Sleeve in 2015
I revised 3 years ago. My experience is that the sleeve feels more natural, like I just have a smaller stomach.
My comments are my personal observations...
The sleeve is more consistent and not as restrictive as a filled band. I do not experience stuck or regurgitation. Only handful of times I vomited was from wolfing food.
I was banded in 2001 at 272 and got to about 205 in a year. I had bad side effects from the beginning but by year 2 they were intolerable and all Fluid was removed. My highest recorded weight was 332 by 2005. Did weight watched etc and spent many years in the 240-275 range.
I had my band removed in Sept 2011 and sleeve done Dec 2011. I weighed 308. I got to my goal of 158 in 14 months. I got down to 140 but am currently in the 150s. I lost 160#! !!!!
So I find maintenance takes focus and I can see how easy it would be to regain but I am so far successful! !! I have never been able to maintain a big loss for very long pre-sleeve.

@@GEAUX SAINTS - makes good points. Consult your doctor/nutritionist about how to adjust you intake to make this successful for you. In the meantime I would recommend staying away from binge-y and slider foods.

You are not alone...I am about 8 weeks also (1/9) and have questioned my sleeve since I started with puréed foods! I understand how you feel. I was just at my doctor last week and asked point blank. I have all my or reports and I rarely feel restriction. I will be honest and say that yes, I have tested the sleeve (not wise) and nailed a regular piece of pizza with NO problems!! I had the band for 7 years and was so used to having restriction and I did well with it. I do love the fact that I have more freedom but in8 weeks, plus 1 pre op, I'm down 20 lbs. I only had 50 to loose but I too feel like a failure. I'm at the point where I'm about to go to another surgeon with all my reports and see what they have to say. I'm not loosing hope though but everyone I have know has been incredibly successful with the sleeve, however they have had at least, at least 100 lbs to loose. I asked my doctor and he said it would be slow with me and told me to lower my intake...really???? I'm stuck on the scale and I seriously eat, in total, about 1 cup of food, if that per day. When do you go see your doctor?

I was 2 weeks out, but only because my husband was scared he'd hurt me. I would have been good at a week out, maybe sooner. Remember the missionary position isn't the only way to have sex. He doesn't have to get close to your incisions at all. Make sure it's comfortable for you. I'm sure he won't care!!!
My libido hasn't changed at all, so far! People are all different! Don't sweat it!!!

I have heard that clothing manufacturers/designers have changed sizes to make people feel better about themselves, probably because happy people buy more. When I lost my weight with the lap-band I was 145lbs and in a size 4, and they were getting loose. I NEVER wore a size that small, even in high school and I weighed 107 when I graduated. After college I was 117 and in a size 6. Don't know if this real, but it sounds good to me! What's your opinion?

I can't help you with the diabetes, but I sure have a suggestion for the drink. I add Mango Peach MIO to my Water. I end up drinking about 100oz of it a day. I love the stuff!!! My husband & I drank them prior to my surgery, but he likes the fruit Punch flavor. You can also drink Crystal Light or things like that. Good luck with your diabetes. Hopefully, it will resolve itself with weight loss!!!

My doc is a friend of the family. He told my son, who also had the sleeve, and I to progress at our own speed. I had a folder full of recommendations but started eating chicken and other solids at around 3 weeks. My son started at 5 days. He's 3 years out now and has lost 110 lbs and is maintaining. My doc told me yesterday that I'm above average for a revision patient's weight loss and doing great!
I not saying that what we did is for everyone, but it was for us. Good luck to you!
