Im sick and surgery is next week!

I was sick as a dog the day before surgery. Coughing, sinuses congested, the whole nine yards. CE24 was right. As long as you don't have fever and your chest is clear, there's no problem. And you're a week out. Get some Tylenol Severe Cold & Flu. I took it up until the day before surgery. Quit worrying...you'll be fine!!!

    Sex after surgery

I was 2 weeks out, but only because my husband was scared he'd hurt me. I would have been good at a week out, maybe sooner. Remember the missionary position isn't the only way to have sex. He doesn't have to get close to your incisions at all. Make sure it's comfortable for you. I'm sure he won't care!!! My libido hasn't changed at all, so far! People are all different! Don't sweat it!!!
  3. @@2/2015RN - Make sure you're using sugar free cough drops!!!
  4. Oh, I just thought of something else. Spicy foods. I am from the New Orleans metro area and we eat spicy food. I've always love it. Ever since surgery, spicy food makes me cough...a lot!!! Whether it's just black pepper, or highly spicy, I cough! It's like I'm overly sensitive to it! I sure hope this goes away!!!
  5. I tried an abundance of protein shakes prior to surgery. I FINALLY found one I like...prior to surgery!!! I started drinking it after surgery and from day one, it's disgusting!!! It makes me soooo sick to my stomach. I have to drink it right before I go to bed, or I'm useless!!! I get nauseous, sweaty, gassy, etc! Just UGH!!!

    Food amounts

2oz is about my max and at a month out, I guess that's kinda normal. Not to say that yours isn't. There are different sized sleeves and everyone is different in how they loose!!!

Is anyone losing a lot of weight FAST?

If you're getting your protein in your hair shouldn't fall out. I would check that first, besides consulting your doctor! That's a must!!!

HELP!I NEED A LIST OF SLIDERS!

    Thanks everyone!
  9. I need help! I kind of understand the basic concept of sliders, but it would really help if I had a list to go by. I'm basically a hands on kind of person. I know you can't really list them all, but if everyone tells me their own experience with them then maybe I can get a better realization of what, specifically, they are!!! Any input would help!

    Drinking Sodas with sleeve?

I can't even imagine drinking a soda! The bubbles would kill me!
  11. A lot of insurance companies require their patients to diet for a period of time prior to surgery. This diet sometimes lasts 6 months to a year. If I could do that, there wouldn't be any need for the surgery. In fact, my doctor's preop was only the day before on Clear liquids, but I was self-pay!
  12. Sounds like your eating too much. That's the only time I get the burps!

    Worried it wont work

You just have to remember that this is not a fix or and you still have to work it! You need to eat protein first and it's a good idea to weigh your food, even after you think you could stop! Good luck!
  14. @@kndoster - My 3 week stall started at 2 weeks and lasted 2 weeks! I'm a month out and the first 16 days I lost 16 pounds. EXCITED!!! Then the stall. I've started loosing again and I'm now at 20 lbs. I'm trying not to get discouraged, but it's hard sometimes. I understand EXACTLY what you're talking about, but it is normal! Good luck to you!!!
  15. If this doesn't help you make up your mind, I don't know what will. In the first pic, on the left, is my son at 5'7 1/2" and 288lbs. In the other pic, on the left, this time, at 170. He is now 3 years out and enjoying life to its fullest!!! I've been banded, in 2002, and sleeved, last month. I certainly don't regret it! You need to decide what's right for YOU!!! Anyone can show you pics and tell you "their" stories, but they can't decide for you. You're doing the right thing by getting as much info as you can before making such a huge decision. Good luck to you, whatever you decide!!!

I never thought I'd have this problem

    Congrats!!! You go girl!!!

What do you drink when you go out?

@@BigGirlPanties - OMG, you could be my twin!! I thought I had written your post!!!

    Been bad lately....

My problem hasn't been fruit, it's been sliders. But after a 2 week, "dreaded 3 week stall", I decided that this was more important than the moment of satisfaction I got from eating the wrong thing! I'm back on track now and hope to stay that way! You just need to make up your mind if this is worth it, if YOU"RE worth it! You know the answer as well as I do!!! Let's do this!!!

    Unknown symptoms...

Sounds like you're drinking before your food has left your stomach. I know the feeling. It feels like there's a huge "something" sitting in your esophagus. You can hardly breath, you, certainly, can't talk and you start sweating!!! If this sounds familiar, wait to drink far a while longer! If I were you, I'd consult my surgeon, regardless!!! Good luck to you!!!

    Only losing 1lbs a day

@@nikki1980 - I lost a pound a day for the 1st 16 days. Then a hit a stall but now I'm back on track! You're doing fine. Make sure you get your Protein and calories in! Hang in there...you're doing great!!!
  21. I just couldn't bring myself to weigh this morning!

      IcanMakeit

Now that I'm in maintenance one of the promised I made to myself is to continue to weigh on schedule. I'm one of those "bury my head in the sand" types. I don't want to find myself far off track and wonder how it happened.

After all you have accomplished (and MAJOR CONGRATS BTW!!) all you have gone thru, don't let some tiny metal box get ya down! You know your doing AWESOME! You look amazing and more important, you have done such a great job, you are an inspiration to me ( GB on 03/11/15 band conversion) and everyone here still on the journey! We all have our little quirks, it's what makes us , us. You may be a bit of a procrastinator but your a procrastinating weight loss ROCK-STAR! Don't forget that bit! and ..if it makes you feel better, get on that dumb scale , then stare it down when you see you haven't gained a thing!

Thanks, y'all!!! This means so much to me! After a 2 week, 3 week stall, I got on the scale yesterday and lost 3 lbs. I know I've been eating some sliders (didn't realized till it was almost too late), then I wasn't drinking enough protein, which makes me sick at my stomach. Now I'm concentrating on doing the right thing. Having you guys give me encouragement means everything to me!!! Thanks so much!!!

  22. I had the lap-band put in in 2002. I did great with it until it started failing me. After 4 surgeries due to slippage, bad port, etc, it had to come out! If I had to all over again, I would choose the sleeve, hands down. Although I'm only a month out with the sleeve, and have been in the "dreaded 3 week stall" for two of those 4 weeks, it would be my first and only choice.
