    Nutrition and working out

I don't know what my calorie intake is, but it's not enough for the type of work out im doing...I thought about the carb things, but you need carbs for the energy. It almost seems like I am working out too much for someone with a band and yet all you hear is workout more more more to lose lose lose...UGGG Thanks for the tips!

    Nutrition and working out

HI guys, it's been a while since i posted anything, but need some feedback. Background first...banded in 2007, had a fill here and there, dropped total of 80 lbs...realized was too tight (for too long) got an adjustment and gained 40lbs within 2 months. (all this happened end of 2011/start of 2012. Wasn't working out or anything. Then decided in July of 2012 that I am going to drop the weight without a fill and get working out and discovered boxing...I got hooked right away and for the first time in my life I work out (since then and continue to) 4-5 days a week at last an hour a day and it is not just boxing, we do strength and conditioning too. (NOT kickboxing-actuall boxing) even doing lessons and skill based stuff...HOOKED I tell ya. (had to get a mouth gaurd) Well, my point...didn't lose a single pound...in Novemeber of 2012 got frustrated, went back to doc for a small fill...still NOTHING. I am stronger, healthier and have more energy thats for sure, but as for the pounds nothing. My PCP says I screwed up my metabolism, so no matter how much or how little or what I am eating, I can't drop the pounds. These are intense high energy workouts, and my coach things I am not eating enough because I do get dizzy every now and then. However, I can only eat so much and I try to suppliment with Protein shakes and bars, but that doesn't always happen. My question to anyone out there, is; 1) how do I get my metablism back and 2) how do I drop the pounds? I am seamingly doing everything right... Hope someone can help with my dilema..looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks, Lana

    May 2007 Banders

Hey all, my anniversary is May 10...I like it when the emails start coming in from here... I have been struggling with going up and down with 20 lbs since November, i got a sick and couldn't get back into the swing...before that i was holding steady for a while. I had a very tight fill that caused me lots of reflux and had a few almost pass out spells. it was getting uncomfortable so i finally went to the doc he did a floro and said i was way too tight, lossened it up and now I can't stop eating...LOL...i have gained weight, but at least I don't feel sick all the time. So I ordered an ellipitical and have come to the conclusion no amount of band action is going to help me lose any more weight, it has done its initial job and now I have to do the rest with the band assisting in my food amounts. So i have to excersize in order to lose more weight, and although I have lost 80lbs since surgery, i want to loss another 50-60. So wish me luck...my goal is 1 hour a day 5-6 days a week... Otherwise, good luck everyone and remember, out health is the most important thing, not the weight!!! Good to hear from everyone! Lana

    May 2007 Banders

Hi NimbleBean, I too was banded in May 2007. I have lost a total of 83 pounds since then and still have another 50ish to go. the first 2 years was strictly the band working with minimal working out and low fat foods. Then i plateaued and didn't lose any weight for a while. I decided to start a workout program and in 3 months lost another 20 lbs, which was back in sept 2010. Got busy stopped working out and now holding steady with that total of 83 lbs. Why am i saying this to you? Because you can do it, with or with out the band...WORKOUT!!! that's the secret...no matter how much tighter the band gets, i am not going to get any smaller or healthy without the workout. Good Luck and you will make the right decision for you...we are all here to help, support and listen. PS-how did you know the band slipped? Lana

    Looking for a PT

Hey there! Anyone know of a good, NOT TOO EXPENSIVE (i know that will be a tough one) personal trainer in the naperville/aurora area of Illinois? I have already lost 89lbs but its slow going because i excersize on and off...part of my excuses were because i work FT and had school part time, but now I graduate in June (have one more paper to write) and have no more excuses...so i am looking for someone to help motivate me and keep me on track and hold me accountable...Any names??? Thanks a bunch! Lana
  11. hello beautiful!

  12. Okay, I think I will post...the pic of me in black is from my 30th b-day in Feb. 2007. I had surgery May 10th, 2007. The rest of the pics are face progresses...The last one of me in red coming out of a shower...lol ...is from this past Monday. I am only down 60ish lbs or so...slow but going in the right direction.

    Sushi Post-band

I love sushi, i am one year out and can't eat it, I tried it right after banding and thought i was fine, took it slow, small pieces and everything...didn't sit well...then i realized after a few months, that rice is not my friend...I have no probs with sashimi, but no can do cuz of the rice, but totally worth missing out on sushi to be thinner...good luck to you!

Birth Control Pills. Need some feedback

hello, I have been on orth-try cyclen regular (generic version called tri-nessa is what i actually take) for over 5 years. I stopped it before my surgery and then started it again 2 months after...i didn't have any problems with it. But the reason i go with the generic is because it makes me less nauseous then the actual stuff. But my OBGYN and surgery doc find it strange, since they are the same chemicals...but that is just the fact. So i would try the regular stuff see how you feel then maybe try the generic stuff and compare the two...That is my experience, i hope that helps... Have a nice holiday....
  15. My doc too said that he has no idea what is going on....if it is so common, how come they don't know about it?
