Why wouldn't you diet before the surgery to help out your liver? If you are changing your life start there, not after surgery. The longer you can diet the better for you.

For YOUR safety and rapid healing do a week liquid diet because it helps you in so many ways. The first being it prepares you for life after the surgery. Second it makes the surgery easier for the doctor. Third it cuts down surgery time. Fourth it limits the amount internal bruising for a procedure like this. Fifth its gives you more confidence going into the surgery. Sixth it increases your overall safe during the surgery. Like I tell everyone it's better to be safe than sorry. One mistake could hault progression and lead to months of backpedalling. Leave no room from mistakes. Make the margin for error as low as possible on your part and you will thank yourself later...

Cut out bad carbs and fat...this will shrink the liver. The bigger it is the longer it will take and the more bruising u will have wjn they move the liver. Good luck!

I see online all the pre-op diets, some have 2 weeks, some have 3 days, some have none at all.....
So i was thinking, is it really that big of a deal??
Until I met a friend for coffee yesterday. She had a gastric bypass March 3 2011. She has my same surgeon. She said she followed our required 10 day liquid protien diet about 75% of the time.
She woke up and the surgeon said that many other surgeons would have closed her back up cause her liver was still huge and fatty. He said she was lucky he was so seasoned, and they may have had to close her back up and wait until she shrank her liver.
This is motivating me to keep on track with the pre-op diet!
I have 5 more days to go!

Sleeved July 7....and I've done it too!!! Especially when it "tastes so good" after a month or more of "bland" or "nothingness" hahaha I'm hoping the novely wears off. I've just started eyeballing how much I can have and sort of shove everything off to the side. If I'm preparing it, I am just putting the estimated portion on my plate and quickly giving my "left-overs" to one of my human food vacuum sons!

Tamz - You were over 300 pounds and really need a reality check. Everyone has bad days, but you seem to be extrememly negative about the sleeve and that is your right, but in all honesty - there isn't **** you can do about it now. So you have to embrace it and learn to love it. I fear your misery will be forever if you don't punch yourself in the face and start telling yourself that first you needed this because you couldn't do it on your own and second so what if you can't eat. FAT OR EAT? I guess you wanted to be FAT. BUT I know you didn't and you don't. SO PUT ON YOUR BIG GIRL PANTS and tell yourself you made the right choice...Because even if you didn't, again...There is no going back. I am not even 30 days out yet and my incision pain is still seriously bothering me. It feels like SCIATICA in my stomach, but OH WELL. I gotta go to work. I am dizzy everytime I get up, but I gotta push through it and drink more and figure out what I need to do. I was eating like I had lost my damn mind, but finally, no more bad fat girl thoughts...Eater's remorse. GONE. At 30 days. You have to really get it together. Because we are gonna lose our hair, our skin is going to be saggy and who knows what else is gonna happen...You have got to start getting to a positive place because the journey is long and FOREVER. Do you want to be all down forever. You post a lot of negative things on this site, and I think you need to take a break, get your nails and toes done, get a massage and LET THE **** GO. It is ok to have a bad day, but you don't seem to have any good days. Maybe you should also see someone. And I am really sorry to say this, but I have been lerking on this site for awhile and it just seems you are really bad off. Attitude really is everything.

FishingNurse got a reaction from gettingpissed in Thin on the outside, still fat on the inside??
I am having my surgery Aug. 1 2011 and I couldnt be more excited!
I feel fairly preapred for what is to come physically.....
But then my roommate brings me back down to earth saying things like just because you are thin doesnt mean everything will be great in regards to self esteem. So for anyone that has changed a lot on the outside, does the brain follow, or do I run the risk of keeping my "fat girl" mentallity???
    Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks
