Hello!!! I am getting back on track too. I am 2 1/2 years out. I am about 5lbs from my low weight (today) and 20lbs from my NEW goal. I was originally satisfied with just a BMI of 29.9 or less. Now I am shooting for 150's or a size 8, whichever comes first :-) (size 12 now) I was eating junk and not working out for the past year, I am lucky I only regained 7-8lbs! I am down 3.5 lbs since the first of the year.... I have been: 1.) following a modified intermittent fasting eating schedule, kind of like the 5:2 diet many vets are following... 2.) eating 80 grams of Protein per day 3.) drinking lots of Water 4.) weight lifting to increase lean muscle and rev my slightly slowed metabolism We can do this!!!! I know we can. Summer is coming, and it is so nice to feel great about ourselves, that’s my motivation.

Nurses As Bariatric Patients
FishingNurse replied to LynRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am a RN and had VSG too! But I was obese long before I became a nurse in 2003.... ! I agree there may be a correlation between caregivers and those they find comfort in food. -
Scared of Long Term Affects
FishingNurse replied to Ms.Yvette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom had stomach cancer 23 years ago. 3/4 of her stomach was surgically removed. She went from 195lbs to 115 pounds. And she has been cancer free and healthy ever since! So technically he had a similar procedure, and is soning just fine! -
It's a very unpleasant expirence! It can happen post op if you don't chew we'll enough, or you sleeve doesn't like the texture, or you eat a little too much. You can feel like something is stuck in your throat, and your body tries to lubricate the stuck food out, and you form thick salavia to move the food through. Then you can throw up slimy saliva balls. It's horrid! Once you know your sleeve its easier to avoid. Seems to happen in the fist six months primarily.

When did the slight uncomfortableness of eating subside for you?
FishingNurse replied to endless80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh yeah, for most things. Its a new normal I suppose. I just don't get "discomfort" I am 26 months post op. My restriction does fluctuate. Examples of normal sized meals: 3-4 oz of steak and a few veggies 4-5 oz chicken breast and a few veggies, 1 small hotdog with small bun. 1 large slice of pizza. (or 2 small- like thin crust) or even 4 jumbo shrimp and I am stuffed. I can eat a 6inch sub, without the top of the bread. BUT I can eat an entire box of cheezits in a few hours. and trust me, I have. So I avoid sliders as much as possible, but not all the time. I have found a happy medium. I am very happy! -

When did the slight uncomfortableness of eating subside for you?
FishingNurse replied to endless80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like crap when I ate for at least 2 months. Felt ok 3-4. Pretty good 5-6. Now 26 months out I feel 100% like I did pre-op! -
lol, sliming is bad. I am 26 months post op, and luckily I slimed 6 times only, eveytime but 1 was in the first 6 months. It might happen again, it sneaks up on you. Texture did it to me.. beef jerky! Ack!

MN Buddy Wanted. 11/8/2013 Sleeve Date
FishingNurse replied to tammyd0966's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey you got the tracker! I feel like it has been fairly easy to maintain. Although I set my weight loss goal fairly high. (169 at 5'4'') I have been the same weight 169-171 for 18 months + now. Most people don't think I weigh 170, (most guess 150!) I pretty much eat whatever I want, but if I go above 171 I take charge and will find myself at 168 in a week. I recently decided to make it to the 150's now that I have maintained so long. I am training for a 5k! I am pretty sure I can make it to my new goal of 159, before the new year! The first 3 months are ROUGH, but sooooo worth it. I have never maintained any weight, (not even 260lbs) for this long ever!! Ask me anything! I am happy to help. -

When can you drink
FishingNurse replied to beauty29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't drink soda pop, But I drink several bottles of sparkling water per day, and an average of 3 beers a week. Carbonation doesnt bother me.... and no it has not and will not strech my stomach. (I am 26 months post-op) I waited until 4-5 months out. -
Should i wear a bodysuit, shapewear top or spanx
FishingNurse replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would reccomend waiting until you are post op and trying things on as you go. I learned the hard way no stocking up on ANYTHING post op, because I found I usually wasted my money!! -

whats the deal with sugar free post op?
FishingNurse replied to Heather Meyer's topic in Food and Nutrition
I drank diet everything, sugar free this, fat free that for 20 years and ended up almost 265 pounds. Post op : no sugar free, no diet, no low fat... And I am 26 months post op maintaining my goal weight for the first time ever!! Go figure :-) -
finally down 100 pounds and it feels so good!
FishingNurse replied to FDclerical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look fantastic! Congrats -
You need some fat! I peronally don't eat low fat or fat free anything, and made my goal and have maintained for more than a year ! When fat is removed, sugar is usually added or worse... Artifical sweeteners. Also full fat items are more satisfying, and I personally don't get hungry or get cravings as much.
