All sleevers 3 years out or more

Update!! its been 2 weeks since I re-commited myself to getting back on track. I am eating more Protein and less carbs and not eating after 8pm... down 4.6 pounds!! I have not felt this good in a long time!! 5.4 more pounds to go to get me back to my lowest weight then I will tackle 10 more pounds for my ultimate goal. Yay!

All sleevers 3 years out or more

Thank you all for posting, this helps me!! I am going to get those ten pounds off, 1 at a time!! I will keep you posted. I am not going down that slippery slope. :-)
  3. I would go to Park Nicollet personally. Why? I have been an employee there for 8 years and I had my surgery 3 years ago with Dr. Thomas Jones. :-) Best decesion I have ever made.

    Sleeve to Bypass revisioners?

I wish more people had info for you Irene! When I was struggling I really researched converting to the DS. I was feeling hopeless. Luckily I am 7 pounds away from my low weight again right now but its not easy. My BMI is still 28ish, and I wonder what it would have been if I would have gone for the Bypass. Don't get me wrong, I am happy, just wonder what it would be like!! (I am a size 12, wayyyyy better than a 24 ) My hunger is no different than before at this point! I'll keep trying, I really hope you get approved !!! -Lisa (previously Sleeve of Steel!)

    Weight Gain

you are not alone, I am reading more and more about regain after the sleeve! I too gained 10, and have lost it, and gained it again! I am currently 6 pounds from my lowest. I am 3 years out this summer. I have found the intermittent fasting (8 hour diet) the best. My restriction is fair, I eat 1500-2000 cals a day usually, sometimes more. If you still have a significant amount to loose, and you continue to struggle there is always revising to a DS or a Gastric Bypass.
  6. I think you know WHAT to do. But you need to figure out why you're sabotaging yourself. I would consider seeing a therapist, and start coming up with ways to self soothe other than eating. I have some similar behaviors but not quite as severe. Get back on track now before regain starts. You can do this!! Good luck and keep us posted.
  7. There just isn't room until about 6 months for that stuff. It is so important to feed your body well post op. I really only had room for Protein. But trust me it is well worth it! I am 2.5 years out and enjoy anything now in moderation.

    Freaking out but determined.

WLS (the sleeve) was the best thing that I ever did for myself... and that was 2.5 years ago. Good luck on your journey !!
  9. Wow that is crazy. I would have been so weak and sick. I never counted carbs or cals really...in the losing phase only Protein. (I would guess during losing phase after I was healed I was getting 1100-1200 cals a day.) Worked for me! I would get 75 grams of protein a day or more. I think you are allowed to modifiy your surgeons guidlines... what ever works for you!

    Long term Vet success strategies

I like what everyone is posting, what a great thread! I also weigh everyday.... I have to or things could get out of control quickly. I work out 3-4 days per week (lifting weights and some cardio) I chose Protein first whenever possible, but I do eat 1600-2200 cals a day!) Most importantly: I keep focused on what I want long term (not what I want at the time-- I usually want an entire box of cheezits and a chocolate bar) But I will never go back. Mindset is my biggest key in maintaining!

    Am I stretching my pouch?

I think as long as you are not having any issues, don't stress. I had a lot of swelling post-op, some people don't. Don't worry too much!!
  12. Did anyone else think Rachel looked terribly thin?? The look on Jiliian's face said it clearly. I have a bad feeling she could be my next admission on my unit (I work as an RN in the eating disorders unit) yikes! I am so up and down about this show! What are your thoughts ?

    Unintended Effects of Surgery

Sneezes or a running nose is typical If you're full! It doesn't happen very often after 1 or 2 years

    Quest Cookies & Cream

You look amazing !!!! Wow you like 5-10 years younger. Keep up the good work girl :-)

    wish you got lap band?

No way! I wanted the lap bad initially and my surgeon talked me out of it..... So glad he did!
  16. Cool, I wasn't trying to sound mean, I just was making sure you are filled in on the new trend for sleever vets! :-)
  17. Everyone has a right to their own opinion BUT....If you take a look at the vets forum...there are dozens and dozens of sleevers like myself 2-3+ years post-op following this plan and it works. It is intermittent fasting. Not fasting. Big difference!! You do get all the nutrients your body needs, you just allow your body to use stored energy more efficently.
  18. this is called orthostatic hypotension....google it! When you go from a lying or sitting position to standing quickly your blood pressure can drop dramatically, and usually your heart rate will go up. it is common after significant weight loss. I'm an RN in a inpatient eating disorders unit, (patients with anorexia and BN suffer from this frequently as well) I have picked up patients off of the shower floor more than you'd guess. Let your MD know this is happening, and take your time going from a lying postion to a standing position. that will help.
  19. Is there a reason you can't take normal supplements? There are liquid Vitamins.... but they taste awful. I don't know of ones you could mix into a liquid. And I am an RN. Have you considered a gummy? Thats what I take :-)

Down 103 pounds! 9 months post op!

you look awesome! so much younger. Great job!
  21. sounds like torture to me! Have you looked in to intermittent fasting instead? like 5:2 diet or 8 hour diet? I lost 7 pounds of holiday regain in less than a month doing the 8 hour diet 5 days a week. I am 2.5 years+ out from the sleeve.

    Am I stretching my pouch?

I am a little concerned because you are only 6 weeks out! If you were six months...maybe? I am appropching the 3 year mark and I can barely that much dense Protein at once. I wasn't even healed enough to feel fullness at that point. I could eat Maybe 1 tablespoon of food at 6 weeks. I am not trying to sound rude at all I am just concerned you are not feeling everything yet cause you are still healing. I don't think you should be concerned with streching your sleeve yet, but concerned with a possible leak. My surgeon says it really takes 4-8 weeks to heal and have all the swelling gone from the trauma of surgery.

    Am I stretching my pouch?

I would not be concerned at all.

    Pre-op Diet Vent

Yep it does totally suck, but I promise it is worth it!! you can do this!!

Dear Veterans, has your hunger returned?

I'm 2.5 years out. My hunger never left completely. But it's definately improved from pre-surgery and easier to manage :-) ! I'm with-in 3 pounds of my low weight from surgery... With some effort. My desire to not go back is the biggest factor in my weight maintainence... Not my actual sleeve restriction at this point because I can totally eat around my sleeve if I want. ( and I do once in a while )
