Valentina got a reaction from Dairymary in Hello from an oldie but goodie
    Welcome! Most definitely, Welcome.
BP needs all the supportive members we can get. One thing I can guarantee you is a diversity of opinions. We seem to have an over abundance of enthusiastic and hopefully well meaning opinions. Conversation can get quite----"lively" from time to time.
I had my sleeve surgery in 2011 and mine, too was considered "experimental". Now the balance is turned 180 degrees. Most WLS are sleeves where way back when, the bypass was considered, "The Gold Standard of all WLSs." How times have changed.
I was born and raised on a dairy farm. I can still not think of any other or any better place to learn life's lessons. My father caught his arm in the PTO of one of our tractors during corn chopping season and broke his arm 13 places between shoulder and finger tips. Anyway, my entire senior year of high school, I was responsible to milk our 90 head of Holsteins twice a day . (I always made it a point up until then to stay as far away from the barn as possible). I had to and did learn each and every cow. I also learned much respect and responsibility. The general populous needs to acknowledge that without the farmers we would all starve---especially in times of war.
I apologize for my babbling. I just wanted to share that with you. I LOVE Holsteins!---and the farmer whose job is the most dangerous job in the country.
Again, I welcome you and encourage you to "Post in with both feet".
    Best wishes.

I had a stash of pillows waiting for me at home, because I, too am a belly sleeper and was anticipating a problem. With the pillows placed here, tucked there, under this, supporting that --all was well in dreamland.
We belly sleepers are a stubborn lot, aren't we?

Thank you. I went to a support group meeting last week and a post op lady there said everything down there is different and used the word volitile. She told us it would be wise to have extra clothes handy at work and such! I didn't want to ask this in a live meeting with 35 people but it did come to mind.
I didn't know if someone would say "I never had trouble before, but oh gosh now yeah, definitely use an enema after surgery before anal! This one time...." I'd rather be prepared with the right information than have an uncomfortable sitaution to deal with.
I searched this forum and Google before asking. All I found was someone who asked about anal with sleeve which I didn't think was the same since they don't have the rerouting like RNY. Oh, and some links to "brunette anal RNY" porn which I didn't check out. Lol. I did find one person asking my same question on another WLS forum, but she got one reply which was that anal sex is never ok.
I expected to maybe be poked fun of for asking but I didn't expect snark. Thanks for taking me seriously.

I don't know of many of us that are medically qualified to answer that question. You really ought to check with your doctor on that one.
As far as people's sexual preferences if you don't have a good answer here then don't reply. I can see the concern in this question. My wife is a four-year degree Psychology major with an emphasis in abnormal sexuality. This is not considered abnormal anymore.

Wow! So sorry that we inconvenienced you all. Maybe I missed it but when I started on this site a month ago, I did not see a "how to" as far as asking questions. Maybe its time for some of the veterans to bow out... you have forgotten what it is like to be a newbie and to feel overwhelmed about this whole process not to mention the ton of information coming from all different sources. Some of you have forgotten what it is all about...if your bored with the questions...move along and don't waste your time. I thought it was great to be getting input from the "VIPs" and "Bariatric Legends" but I don't want a veteran who has forgotten where they came from.

I do understand why the vets "take a break" or leave altogether. This board tends to get redundant or repetitive and it's pretty annoying sometimes to see the same questions posed over and over and over and over and over and over and over and I've only been a member since June. I don't post a lot of questions because my career is based on educating cancer patients throughout their diagnosis, treatment and management of their condition. In other words I have to look up a lot of s h I t sometimes. Theres a lot of information out there and if you look even a little bit you'll find the answers you need.
I think we newbies come here wet behind the ears eager to soak up knowledge and find a happy medium between our old life and our new life. We are looking to connect with others with similar experiences and understand how others have managed. Over time we become more acclimated to the lifestyle, more understanding of what has to be done and why and hopefully less inclined to make the same mistakes that led us to need surgery in the first place. Then the newbies become the vets and the vets become more "normal" and so forth and so on.
I remember when I was in nursing school. I frequented a Forum for nurses. I was on that site almost everyday. When I finally became an RN I hung around for about a year and then--- I moved on. I had tapped out. Although I had not experienced everything-- I was better equipped to handle any situation that I encountered. I understood how to access my resources and I was doing well on my own. I offered advice and encouragement to other newbies but I had my co workers and nursing school buddies to share war stories with. I no longer needed the forum. I was no longer benefitting.
I find myself bypassing certain topics because there is not a lack of people willing to answer or comment. There is no need for me to answer grudgingly or hastily because I think someone lacks complete common sense. Let someone else have the floor.

In my time here, I have made all of one topic. And this was a topic about acceptance (I had a really hard time accepting that I was going to subsist on a cheese and liquid diet for 3 weeks but then I realized I just had to accept it.) Do you know what I did anytime I had a question? I typed key words into that handy dandy search box and blammo.. I got an answer! That is one of the things I love about this place. There is SO MUCH information here. Yeah, not all of it is good (I'm talking about newbie advice), but as someone who believes fact-checking is important I know what and when to trust.

New members know that they can google questions, but they are looking for advice from an experienced person. They are looking for the experts, not just random answers.

When you are burned out on answering questions, it is time to take a break and let others do the answering. What attracts people to a board is the ability to interact.

When everyone quits interacting and simply points to the search bar, then the board will cease to exist.

So far I'm enjoying them----Of course, "Rosewood" was on last season.
"Bull" is supposed to be based on Dr. Phil's life experiences. I find it fascinating.

If I were EVER to become pregnant at my age,, don't bother with any testing-----just take one of your rifles and shoot me in my head, OK???
Been there----done that---and have the T-shirt that says so.
By the way, I also like Brussel sprouts, sautéed with onions then add ketchup .. ambrosia to the Gods!

I tried on my wedding dress a few weeks ago---the dress I wore 43yrs ago---and it just hung on me. I am now wearing a smaller dress size than I did when I was in the seventh grade.
Is WLS during my "golden years" all sunshine and rainbows? Hell no!

I would agree that counseling through your school may not be enough, but it is a good place to start, especially if you need help finding someone who specializes in eating disorders. I would think most college counselors would have a line on the resources available to you in your area.

Just like some folks lose more hair regardless of what they do or take, there are those ---like myself who never experienced ANY Hair loss.< /p>
We are all individuals and like everything else---WLS wise----we react differently.
Try not to stress yourself about impending hair loss. It just may not happen. Stressing itself may exacerbate and bring hair loss on..
Wishing you a joyful journey and an hairy head!

Many women have normal pregnancies after wls. It is advised not to become pregnant until 18 months after having surgery.
If you are waiting until 4yrs anyway, wls wont hurt the baby and will be better than you being high risk from weight and fertility gets better.

I initially banned the OP because I thought she wasn't real person and just someone trying to garner attention and cause trouble. After having a private conversation I realized she was a real person and unbanned her. I don't agree with her stance and don't condone getting surgery when one has an eating disorder. I don't ban members for that, though. I keep these forums open to everyone and we don't discriminate. You can (politely) explain your stance why you feel she's making a big mistake but there's no need to call any member names. That was the only point I was attempting to make.
