    Pain

If you are having such pain as to be concerned enough about it to ask questions here, by all means call your bariatric team. Pain is a warning sign that your body sends to your brain that something is wrong. Don't rely on nonprofessional laypersons here on this support site to be able to give you any kind of reliable medical advice. They shouldn't and can't give such advice. Call your team and FELL BETTER.
  2. I think it's more relevant than some of the forums. It should NOT be restricted or forbidden for anyone to respond----in my opinion. Why not?? Regain is a serious issue experienced by more WLS folks than most people want known publicly. It's a serious aspect of WLS. Sure! Great idea.
  3. I am truly awed by your testimonial. That's how it read for me---like a testimonial. Enjoy your moment. Relish it. I'm sure you will have many more such moments, but this one will always remain------SPECIAL. Remember it. It's yours to own. You've earned it. Enjoy it! Thank you for taking the time to share it.

    Weight Loss = Friend Loss

I've always believed the unwritten WLS rule that one should NOT make any life changing decisions for at least the first six months post op. You've changed physically sure, but also mentally. Don't act drastically in any direction. Just let it be. What will be will be. (great lyrics for a song! ). Leave your friendship door open just a wee bit. Don't burn your friendships bridges---not yet. Maybe, just maybe friends will reunite on a different level---with better understanding and respect. Be kind to yourself. You're worth it. You know it. I know it, and so do "they".

    I'm pissed!

Off with her head!!! OH, by the way----I still have the shovel and the flashlight.... just a thought.

    Words of wisdom

Try to relax. Let your team guide you. You've already done the hard pre-op work, now let your surgeon do his/hers. Learn to listen to your sleeve. Work with it---not against it. It will tell you when you've had enough, when you've eaten too much, eaten the wrong things. It will give you little hints before you "hit the wall". Learn to hear those hints. If you just learn to relax and work with your sleeve you will have a successful and joyful WLS journey. I look forward to watching your progress. Best wishes...

    Pain question

In my experience, it takes three or four days for all of the anesthia to "wear off". You're body is finally coming fully aware---and it hurts. After all, you just abused it and it is now telling you just that. It's "cranky". From here on out everyday should get a wee bit better. If not-----do NOT hesitate to call your bariatric team. They know you better than anyone on here. Feel better and be kind to your body----cranky or not.
  8. Since I am not a professional therapist I can not give your professional advice. Besides, if I were, you'd have to pay me! I would consider therapy for the two of you---alone and then together. You HAVE changed. He hasn't and maybe doesn't want to. Remember, there are few things more irritating than: an x-alcoholic, a born again Christian, or a recent weight lost "know what's best for every one". He may be able to listen and talk to someone objective rather than be "preached" to by you===even well intented. Get going on getting your marriage back on track. Do NOT put therapy off---hoping it "he will come around". I know. Wishing you nothing but many years of happily married life.
  9. Three weeks out and I'm sooooooo glad it's over. tough, tough surgery, but if having it will help stabilize my spine it will all be worth it. would I have skin surgery just for cosmetic reasons? HELL NO!!! I am content with my scars less painful life. All will be well. Thank you for caring enough to ask, Friend.
  10. I enjoy a scoop of cottage cheese with a perfectly poached egg on top. I poach the egg in milk, but that may be because I'm a dairy farmer's daughter. We always had milk even when sometimes the well would go dry. I also like laying down a layer of cottage cheese and putting SF Jello gently over it and letting it set. Lime/lemon jello tastes the best--to me. Enjoy!
  11. I am delighted to report that I am official "overweight"--not "obese" I haven't heard those words since elementary school. Take THAT, Sister Mary Francis!

@ShelterDog64: I think this binder is causing my eyes to bugger out! Incision line is less angry and NO BACK PAIN since skin surgery. Keep your fingers crossed that the surgeons' theory holds true. I see the surgeon again on Friday. Thank you for caring/asking, my friend.

@kmorri: Missy: being normal physically has NOTHING to do with us being "a wee bit delightfully weird". I don't think the world should sleep too soundly just yet. ;)

    NSV shout outs

Dub, you said: Oh.....and I can flip a jig into an opening in the brush pile.......or skip a topwater plug under a boat dock and make it walk the dog back to the boat.................but I'm lacking any surfcasting skills and won't even try to upstage a maestro. I'd look foolish doing so. Better I know my role and take the lessons as they are offered. My reply: Looking foolish when surf fishing is easy to do, (remember my lost sweat pants saga?)and half the fun. But, don't worry, my friend, I will enjoy every minute of your surf fishing debut. :) PS: -----I'll be gentle.

Good or bad? I was pulled over for a routine five point check and the State Trooper did NOT recognize me by my license photo. He just laughed and laughed and laughed. Then I realized that he was a school mate of my eldest daughter. He strongly suggested I get a new license photo. Damn Brat!

@heidikat: Thank you . I am heading for the finish line now. :)

@kmorri: Voodoo doll? HOW MUCH FUN!!! But---I'd probably develop a girl crush on that too. ;) I'm not well, remember. --and yes, you did make me laugh. Surgeon gave me a smaller binder today. He wants nothing to be able to move (mostly ME ) for another three weeks at least. I'm not good at this resting stuff. :)

    Veggies Anyone?

With Fall just ahead comes the yummy Fall veggies. cauliflower Brussel sprouts cabbage carrots green Beans tomatoes squash I enjoy taking any one of those mentioned or a selection of several, putting them on a cookie sheet, spritzing with olive oil, crushed garlic and nutritional yeast. Roast at 425 for about 25min The nutritional yeast adds a cheesy taste plus added Protein. Not only are these great for dinner, but they also make a yummy snack anytime.

    I have a date

Vomit? First date? not good when done at the same time. Relax. Be smart. Be happy. Be yourself. Baby steps, my friend. Baby steps... Enjoy!
  19. I'm still trying to adjust not being happier with my life post WLS. Am I healthier? sure am Am I able to buy beautiful "regular size" clothes? sure can Am I six sizes smaller than pre-op? yep Did I just endure a lengthy skin removal surgery to rid my back of added stress? Still recovering, but yes, I did. So, Alex, to answer your question, "what about WLS weighs me down?" --Having accomplished all of the above and NOT having John to share it all with. Was I happier with my life before WLS? Honestly? yes I was.

    Pop Rocks and Coke . . . .

Only the people who are smiling will "know".
  21. Spent yesterday in the ER. Incision is open, weeping and infected. Sometimes I just shake my head about what some people think is all mighty important...

    Leg cramps

Good lad! You can thank me later...
  23. Valentina

    Leg cramps

Not too late, you silly man! Call tomorrow morning. If for no other reason than to make flying more comfortable. Legs cramping while strapped into an airplane seat will NOT be pleasant.
  24. Valentina

    Horrible

Don't wait until Tues. Please, Call and see whomever is on call TOMORROW.
  25. You really do need to discuss this with your bariatric team. All in all you will probably be fine, but your team needs to know what's going on with you. They have a pre-op regimen for a reason. Also, when the surgeon's office called to discuss a surgery date, why didn't you just ask for a later one--giving yourself time to get everything that you needed to do the required pre-op diet? That way you would have had everything you needed. You could fulfill your required pre-op diet obligation and not had all of this mental stress??? I wish you well. Please call your team. All will be as it is meant to be.
