    WHERE IS THE NEGATIVE?

one negative ive found is its really hard to stay hydrated. I play roller derby, and in the wee breaks in between i used to down a bottle of water to keep me going as i was so hot and thirsty. These days i cant drink more than 3 gulps of water at a time without it hurting or making me sick, so its really difficult to drink enough during exercise...

    Anyone using Mirena IUD?

I have no idea about costs i live in Scotland so got it on the NHS. It does have hormones in it, but at a very very small amount compared to the pill so side effects are lessened. They are also apparantly more effective and safer than the old copper coils, and have the added advantage of lessening periods rather than making them heavier. The strings hang out of your cervic, they dont come down into the vagina, as i say you can feel them but i have to squat and put your fingers up reeally far (sorry, TMI) and they are so small and tiny that they are difficult to feel. My boyfriend cant feel them. Apart from the fact i dont have a period anymore (and checking the strings every few months) i would have no awareness of having the coil in.

    Anyone using Mirena IUD?

The strings dont get in the way, you can feel them if you kinda squat and search for them (which you do occasionally just to make sure the coil is in place), if you have any problems when feeling them during sex you can get them trimmed. Ive never had any problems. I dont know about UTI's i dont see why it would lead to more. As far as i know, the mirena lessens/stops periods in most women.. i have endometriosis so had a constant period for about 8 months before i had one put in and i havent had a period since. It is actually a chemical, the IUD (old copper coil) was just a coil, but the Mirens is an IUS (intra uterine system) it has a little capsule/sleeve on it that releases levonorgestral. When i went on the pill years ago i put on lots of weight, but not as much when i went on the coil, and am losing steadily since i had my sleeve.
  5. I was absolutely fine. I had the surgery on the Thursday evening, and by saturday morning i was up, showering myself (with drain still in place), and crawling around the floor cause i dropped my pen. Just take it slowly, with no sudden movements

    Extreme Pigout

I love Man Vs Food. Its like porn to me! I know i can never eat that amount of food (or even more than a few nibbles of it) but i still like watching it. And i think adam richman the host is quite cute.

6 months and I'm not losing!

I dont know a huge amount about low carb, but i was under the impression that you lose weight quickly doing low carb as your body goes into ketosis, where there are no glycogen stores for it to use so it burns fat instead. in order to get into ketosis in the first place you have to completely deplete your glycogen stores, for me to do that i have to eat less than 20g of Protein a day for a week or so, only when ive been in ketosis for a few weeks can i up to 50g and still lose.... edit: sorry, i meant 20g carbs obv

    Anyone using Mirena IUD?

Ive had the mirena for 7 years to help with my endometriosis and i LOVE it. Im not sure about stalling weigh tloss etc.. i had my sleeve 6 weeks ago and have lost 32lb. Which i am more than happy with, im not doing atkinds or low carb or counting calories, im just eating healthy(ish) food when im hungry. I know i could probably lose quicker if i did low carb. Ive lost every week, though i know its still early days. The only thing that has changed is ive had some spotting/small periods since surgery, but im assuming thats just due to hormones going a bit crazy due to changes in my body. Lio

how long do we have to wait????

Yep, i was intimate 5 days after surgery.. just be careful with positions/pressure on your stomach
  10. Im a little worried. I know im not supposed to compare myself to others but ive been reading the boards here and im worried i am able to eat too much. Some posts Ive read here say you have to eat fluids only for 2 weeks, then mushies for 3 months!! Wheras my Dr said to "build up to eating normally in the next month" . Ive also read that some peoples dr's have said no strenuous exercise for 4 to 6 weeks, wheras my Dr said i could go back to Rollerderby within 2 weeks... I know VSG is a new thing here in Scotland but still!! Im exactly 14 days post op and i can already eat fairly normally. Yesterday I had my Protein shakes/water, a chicken/sweetcorn tortilla wrap, a mini choc bar, some diet coke, some cornflakes and a yogurt. today, ive had my protein shakes/water, a yogurt, 4 chicken McNuggets, a couple of spoons of mashed potatoes, and probably some chicken/rice Soup for dinner.. Im a bit perturbed that i can physically eat these things quite happily (as long as i chew and eat slowly,a new thing for me!)..... i get hungry every couple of hours, eat a little bit, feel full, then a couple of hours later im hungry again (which is again new to me, i used to eat hardly anything during the day, not be hungry, have a huuuge dinner, then feel sick ) Should i just count my blessings and shut up? thanks

    The drain

I had a drain. Wasnt fun, but wasnt too bad, i had drips and ecg leads and everything attached to me too. I had it for 2 days, it was annoying but didnt hurt too much unless i rolled over in bed and pulled on it, even then it wasnt sore, just.. weeird... I pinned it to my trousers so i could walk around, and just held the bag between my teeth in the shower! I was worried about getting it removed but that didnt hurt either, again, just felt, weird. had to wear a dressing for 2 days but its healing fine now.

    Dreading eating

    great, thank you very much
  15. Im one week post op, and am currently doing the pureed stage, so smooth Soup, semolina, yogurt etc but i now hate eating. i dont ever feel hungry.. and actually most of the day i feel pretty good, hardly any pain now, and feeling great.. untill i have to eat... i only eat because i know i have to, and i hate it, when i do eat i dont enjoy the taste of food, and anything i take hurts, and i feel sick for about 20 mins afterwards (even if i have 2 tbsp of yogurt or something). I guess i wanna ask those who have been sleeved for a while... do you enjoy eating again? I know ill never get the nice satusfied full feeling anymore, but do you get to a point where you can eat without pain and actually enjoy it? How longs does it take? cheers
