    Let me be honest

I thank everyone for their posts. They were all helpful in their own little way. I had a follow up appointment with my DR and NUT and told them the same I told you all. My NUT told me that watermelon was not the best choice but told me that I could make fruit smoothies to help me. I also changed my protein brand and that has helped as well. My head is in for success but I opted not to FORCE myself to drink the protein shake and broth in fear that I would vomit. I was just simply trying to find a alternative that would give me some energy. As the healing process continues, I am feeling alot more energetic and excited. I am now on to the mushy stage and am happy about that. I am able to get alot more liquid in as well. I followed some advice and started to drink Gatorade and will start drinking coconut water. Thanks again.
  2. I had my surgery on the 4 th of October and so far, I've lost about 20lbs. However, I ve had a really hard time following the diet directions. I haven't been eating devil dogs or anything but I was eating watermelon and mango my first week out. This week, I have just started to eat small portions of protein(ie. Chicken and fish). I don't have any appetite for protein shakes or broth and for the first three days, I only got about 16ozs of liquid in. I know that I will receive much criticism from this post and that's fine. I am trying to figure out if this will damage me later on. I need to reiterate that I am not eating bad food or drinking soda but just trying to give myself some nutrients. I feel very weak most of the time.
  3. That is so cool. I got my surgery about a week after yours on the 4th of October. How are you healing? I am still very sore and weak.

  4. I have been on my pre-op diet for 5 days shy of 2 weeks. I am permitted to eat 2 cups of vegetables, 3-4 protein shakes and any sort of clear liquid. I have been following it, perhaps eating a little more than 2 cups of vegetables and more like 3 or 4 but nothing else. I was weighed today and found that I lost 3 pounds but was told by a friend of mine that did the same surgery that she lost 12. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or not and am concerned if there is a correlation between the amount of weight you lose pre-op amd the shrinkage rate of your liver. I am nervous that I have not successfully shrink my stomach if I had not lost much weight. I am scheduled for surgery this Monday. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. :biggrin0:

    October Surgeries!!

I have my last appointment tomorrow. I was scheduled for the 5th of October but have been pushed to the 4th. I am so excited about the surgery. I can't wait to be able to eat fish again. I miss it so dearly. I am in NYC. Is there anyone else going any time in October to have surgery in NYC? I feel like the only person. So I can't to share tips and recipes with all of you. Wish me luck.
  6. I think you are the only other person here from NY. I read that you got your surgery on the 14th. How are you doing so far with the new transition? I am scheduled to go into surgery on the 5th. Feel free to contact me.

    Pre-op diet, WHY?

This mind hunger is really a hard thing to overcome. I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet and I think that I am more hungry today than on the first day of the diet. I have cheated today and ate a cup of low fat popcorn. I think I need to water intake. I will keep you guys posted.

    October Surgeries!!

I feel the same exact way. I am always hungry now and I don't even pay attention to the calories. There's always a little thought in my head that I will continue that and that a day before I will find out I was denied. I plan on curbing my activities about 2 weeks before: exercise and dieting. QUOTE=sleeveorbust;76224]when r you guys starting your preop diets?... I feel so out of control right now with food... I just eat whatever I crave because I feel like its my last chance.... Oh man I need some advice as to when I should make the switch?

  12. I am going for my esophagram and financial clearance. I am trembling in my boots b/c I read here that way to often, people get declined. I hope this will not be case for me. I really need this surgery to make me fell important again. I always put myself last. Well, I will keep you all posted on what the decision is. Thanks for listening!

    I did it!!!

I am really happy to hear that the recover process for you isn't bad. Keep us all posted on your progress and how does it feel to be 7 pounds lighter? :confused1:
  14. I went on July 10th and did a consultation with the bariatic department and I believe that I was approved because I got a surgery date (11.24.10) but havent went through the insurance headache yet (i have medicaid). I am 25 y/o, 230lbs and a BMI of 39.5. I am so excited about the prospects of being healthy and thin that I think that I am obsessing about it. I come on this website ever day, when ever I go shopping now; I look at the smaller clothes and I dream about it at night as well. My marriage is definitely on the rocks and I think that I am relying on the surgery to fix it. Not sure if this is normal for people waiting for the surgery. Let me know. Thanks. Moni Luv:001_tongue:

    Totally obsessed with WLS

You all have been really helpful. I really thought I was the only one. I know that this is not a cure-all remedy but it gives me the inspiration that I don't have otherwise. As far as my marriage, this perhaps is just a rocky road that I will soon pass but nonetheless, with my new body image and self-confidence; I might become a more attractive mate for him(not just physically but also emotionally since I will feel better about myself. I am dying to buy a "thin outfit", not sure what size to buy but definitely psyched about the new possibilities. I am getting nervous now with the requirements for the surgery. I hope that I qualify because I desperately need this push to jumpstart my healthy life.
  17. I am so glad that I read this post. I was seriously torn between getting the band or VSG. I had actually decided upon not getting the band until 2 days before my consultation appointment. I decided to get the sleeve after I met with someone with it. She told me about the advantage of not having to have the pricey fills and I won't have to go the doctor as often. I cant wait until I 11/24(surgery date).
  18. I feel the same way. I have been approved for VSG on the 24th of November. I feel like its forever and now I am second guessing myself. I feel like a loser because I cant lose the weight in the gym and these emotions have been making me eat more. I am also a little depressed/scared about not being able to eat as much anymore. I love to snack and am not sure if I have the will power to stop.:svengo:
