  1. 1 years has passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary sleeve4me!

  2. I had the gas pains and they lasted for at least 3 weeks and were TERRIBLE! I had to take liquid Tylenol (didn't need anything from the pain from surgery besides that) and wore the Thermal Care heat wraps on my back a lot, that seemed to help. All of a sudden they were gone.. and I moved around a lot! Good luck and I hope you don't get them!

    Surgery Secrecy

My sister had gastric bypass about 4 years ago and I went to a social outing at her class reunion with her and most people didn't recognize her, and when they finally did, they said "wow! how did you lose all of that weight?" and she looked at me like "should I tell people?" and I would just say "lots and lots of hard work!" (because it is, and they hadn't seen her in about 10 years). I had the sleeve and when people say "wow, did you have gastric bypass" I say, "nope"... but my friends, family and co-workers know, I am just not announcing it to acquaintences or on facebook.. Sometimes I find anyway that people have no idea what the sleeve is and are kind of like "humm?"
  4. It shows up on your profile, but to have a pic on your posts, Edit your Avatar. . .

  5. Thank you so much! I seem to have broken out of my stall now, and lost another 4 pounds, so that feels good. Just can't wait to get to a healthy weight! how in the world did you post a pic of yourself on here? I can't seem to do it. I did "profile pic" and it is not loading up... hummm

  6. The best thing I ever ate when on liquids only post op was homemade chili, then drained everything out and just drank the liquid and it tasted SO good! It was so nice to have the spicy taste after all of that crappy chocolate protein drink!

    Mama Guilt

A happy mom makes for a happy family, so go to your appointment and take your daughter on a special "mom/daughter" day.... I am a mom of a 2 year old and run a business of 45 employees and 60 clients and sometimes am gone from 9am to 7pm and my husband works out of town for a weeks at a time, so I feel the guilt too (thank God she goes to Grandma's and not daycare) but I have to remember that I am doing what I am doing for both of our futures! I had WLS 6/21/10 and sometimes I am tired.. but I know it is only getting better and I am excited to have a better and more active life as a mom!
  8. Hello, I am only 8 weeks out (almost) and for 2 whole weeks was stuck at the same weight... then I upped my calories from about 600-800 and wa-la... now about 1/2 pound a day again... (I had surgery 6/21/10)
  9. You're doing great. Don't give up, and get frustrated. Stalls are normal, just breathe and let the weight come off. Exercise, get your fluids, and stay within your dietary guidelines and you will succeed.

    Hair Loss!

Oh no! This totally freaks me out as my hair is my fav thing on my whole body and always has been. I bought some Nioxin but my hair dresser says it is a waste of money.. but I am still using it. I am 7 weeks out and haven't experienced any hair loss yet. When does it start? Yikes.....

    Consumer Reports/Protein Drinks

Did anyone find anything out about Premier Protein? I am drinking 2 a day (the ones from Costco with 30g protein)?

    Self-pay in U.S. question

Hello, I was self pay and I am 7 weeks out of surgery. I had the surgery in Idaho at a wonderful facility and great program. I had a BMI of 35.7, no co-morbidities, no medications, etc. I explained the diets I have done in my life and he scheduled my surgery that day. I paid $20K, but I had a friend pay about $17K 5 years ago, and since it was only 10 min from my house and they have an awesome after care program, classes, 3 month of free dietician and work outs 2x weekly with a personal trainer, etc I went for it! Good luck to you! I think going to Mexico sounds scary! (to be that far from home... anything closer to home, is Mexico cheaper?)
  13. Hello, I am 7 weeks out and 30 years old. I would love to see your pics as inspiration.. I have lost almost 45 pounds since pre and post op, but have about 45 more to go, and I feel I am already stalling and nervous!

  14. I am 7 weeks out and remember finally sleeping on my sides and stomach after about 2 weeks... I consider my incisions healed around 2-3 weeks, but all of a sudden weeks 5-7, they are itching like crazy! Anyone experience this? A lot of them were reused from a previous gall bladder surgery.

    If given the choice younger

Well, I just turned 30 and just had surgery, and excited to not be overweight for the "rest" of my life... as I have a lot of life to still live!
