    Day four...pain meds question.....

I had discomfort around the largest incision site. And a lot of people were up and going shopping on the third day~~~not me! By the fourth day I was feeling like I was ready to travel. I slept for most of the first 3 days. I have napped every day until just recently. I have really gotten a bunch of energy! (2 month post op) We are all different. It will take as much time as it takes for you. Do not worry. You have the rest of your life to get this done! Kool huh?
  2. GOOD LUCK and God speed!
  3. Gingin: I owe you an apology. I went back and re-read your Response and your surgery date. Mine was a month before yours. They most certainly could have changed procedures by then. I am sorry. I will post this apology on the main board if you want.

Please know, that I was very upset about the NJsleever post. I felt like I had been caught in a fraud and it really pissed me off. I did not mean to include you in that deal. I find when I get angry like that I do not read to clearly or post the most accurately. I need to back off here and just address the "what can I eat type issues". Again I am sorry I included you in my response to NJsleever.

    I have a date :d

Lauren: Iam apatient of Dr. Almanza"s. I am perfectly fine. I am very happy with his/emmunal clinics care. You are taking the right precautions. Infections happen anywhere you have surgery. I have been following the posts about Emmunal clinic and frankly I do not know if they are true at all. At first I was afraid to reccomend, but, now that some of them have been proven false, well, I just have to go back to my own experience. Now, this is not to say there are not complications that can and do happen from surgery. Just do your research and be confident you are doing what is right for your life. I am so happy for you to be able tp get this life changing surgery at such a young age. You will not have the life time weight battle to go thru. Maybe it will save your joints! Not a concern for you right now, but, someday it will be. This surgery is all about the somedays to come. God bless, and go get the surgery with Dr. A. You can call the clinic and get reports from them or your patient co-ordinator, then come on here and ask questions about what you are being told.
  5. NJsleever: you are doing a huge dis-service to all of us if your story is all false. I am a tender hearted person and I was actually crying over your suposed situation. I am a patient of Dr. Almanza's. They did not video tape anything. No one ever made any statement of "they lie about us out there". You have the names of a few of the patient follow-up co-ordinators correct, but, I think you are not truthful. Dr. Betencourt will call you directly, he did for me. There was no 16 year old nurse at the recovery house when I was there. When I went to the hotel for post recovery, my nurse was Edgar/Edward he was the same nurse that put my IV line in (painlessly) at the clinic. I loved Ed. He took out my drain, and I thought he was so professional and caring. I had a massuse that was wonderful also. Sevier, helped with the residual gas pains in my joints. I highly reccomend to any of you going to Dr. Almanza/Emmunal clinic to use Sevier for relief of aches and pains. If any of us get an infection we need to take care of it ourselves. Infections are so common. Dr. Betencourt has established this Emmunal Clinic weight loss program for all the right reasons. (very resonable cost WLS) From what I have read here, Dr. Aceves has a great program also. there just is no reason to defame any one doctor over another. We all want to gain a better healthy life. Dr. Almanza (surgeon employed by Dr. Betencourt) is a competent, worthy surgeon. He did a wonderful job on me. I am very happy with his/my results. There truly is enough WLS to go around, folks, we do not need to slam any one program over another.

    Last appt. before surgery!!

I just thought of something I wished I had asked. What size will my stomach be? or, what size brogee,(spelling) will Dr. use? Titainium staples? Overstiching? I do not know any of this about my VSG. I assume the staples are titanium. I think 75% of my stomach is gone. I would now just like to know the facts and did not think to ask before surgery.

    Last appt. before surgery!!

Ask about post op med's for: diharrea. constipation. nausea. pain. sleep. vitamins. protein. Ask if there are OTC to use, or, if Dr. wants you on Rx meds for awhile to control any of the above. Ask when you can start walking for exersize. How long, how much. Ask for the number of a Dr. or nurse that will answer questions 24 hrs. a day post op. Note, just having the number is a huge mind relief. I never used mine at odd hours, I did use it during normal business hours twice.

4 mts post op 10 weeks pregnant!

Congrats on your new little one. be patient, think of how much weight you will loose once the baby is born! Names everone? slavette=girl....steve=boy. not obvious? hahaha anyway, have some fun, and we should have a virtual baby shower for you. Sending a virtual sleeveping sac your way today in newborn size. Grins and giggles your way.
  10. carolyn24seven

How much weight did you lose?

I lost 40 lbs at two months post. I am now in a stall. My pants keep getting looser. So the advice to measure is a good one. I think we are both just in a stall. Gotta keep the faith! I am determined this be the very first Christmas in my life that I do not GAIN weight. If I do not start loosing again until after Christmas~~~well so be it. Keep up you good work. It will pay off soon.
  11. Can we re-shrink our stomachs like we did before the surgery. You know, go on a liquid diet for two or three days? I am just not clear on how much our stomachs can stretch? I have heard the stretchy part is gone so what is left won't stretch. Somedays I can eat alot more than others. (mindless eating) If I sit down to my meals I do not eat that much, and I am full. I think it is the "grazing" that is a problem. Eating something every 2 hours or so. I am trying not to do that. (graze) I am trying to go drink some protein if I feel the need to graze. All the Holiday cookies are driving me kuku. (short drive) Yes, just one will be a problem. aughhhhh!

    Medical bracelet?

Thanks Tiffy, The medic bracelet is not my choice of personal jewelry. Won't be getting one. When ever I see one I always think of a diabetic. Now I will know that there are MANY reasons people wear them.
  13. carolyn24seven

    Medical bracelet?

what would it say? is there some medical reason to notify any Dr. about just the sleeve? ?? you don't have to wear one after getting you gall bladder out, or a hystorectomy. What would be the deal here? I can see it in Tiffy's case~ clotting disorder. But, having part of your stomach removed? HUH?
  14. carolyn24seven

    Normal!

good for you rosebud! I too cannot wait for the problem: closet full of nothing fits. I do have quite a bit of that now at 2 months post. (-40) I did have to go get some pants, as I was walking out of my pants. Hubby insisted! LOL congrats to you for being NORMAL !!!
  15. WOW!!!! NJsleever is all a fake????? I am sooo angry at that. Here I am, all praying for her and all. Crap!
  16. Donna, love to rant with you. anytime!

I called Medina again, she is still not out of hospt. I do not believe she wants to hear from me anymore. She is so angry. She knows I did not do anything to her, but just the fact I am doing so well and she is not.~~~~ Poor woman. There is nothing I can do.

    Did you tell?

Chancie, maybe it is the difference in our starting weight and ages. I am old. Everyone is waaay used to me heavy. I am tall. 5'8". I carry the weight pretty evenly. I have too many people telling me I do not need to loose weight.(at 250 anyone needs to loose weight!) Or, I do not need to do "drastic" measurers. I am at fault here for not assurting myself.(did not want to offend) I think I am changing that thinking in my head now. I am coming around to the point of view that what I do for myself matters, and I do not have to listen to anyone else. I am thinking I am angry at myself for putting up with all the blather over all these years, instead of speaking up. It is not the people around me I am angry at, its me. Hummmm! think I will go to the gym and work off the anger. lol.
  18. carolyn24seven

    Did you tell?

The problem with being totally honest with "everyone" is they then focus on your weight. "Can you eat that?" You don't need to do that. (drastic surgery) and, are you all right? How are you feeling? These comments and many others is what I am getting from the few people who know. I am sick of it. I would rather talk about the weather. Tiger Woods, politics, religion, anything just stop focusing on my weight! That is why I do not tell everyone the whole truth. I am eating smart/healthy. I am exercizing. That is truth enough. If I hear one more time, too bad you could not just join ______ you would have lost the weight with out drastic surgery. Aren't you afraid of ______. Sheeze I am tired of explaining myself. It is just not my mission in life to inform, re-educate, enlighten everyone about WLS. Gosh, what a rant. I am at the 2 month phase of my journey. I think I remember this is where the anger starts coming out. lol. Whew~ I feel better. Thanks everyone.

    Dr. Umbach in Las Vegas?

youknowit: there is a super moderator here goes by Vegas Angel. Go into the members tab and look her up. She is in Vegas, and seems to have the "scoop" on alot of Dr. there. OR, she can guide you on how to research them locally. I am going to contact her when I need the "tummy tuck" as she knows a really good surgeon and has offered (tongue-in-cheek) to see about a group discount.lol I believe you are wise to get one locally since you have already had complications. I just want to ask, will your insurance pay for complications after "elective" surgery? Mine would, hence my decision to go to Mexico. I figured if anything went wrong I could get fixed on my insurance here at home. If you come to that conclusion, research Dr. Aceves. VegasAngel can help you there too. I cannot reccomend my Dr. at this time. I hope I can in the very near future. Anyway, Good luck with your search. Keep me posted!
  20. Tiffy, I think the picture of you in the Christmas party dress is much better than this one. I think it is the clothes. The red sweater makes you look like you are wearing your Mom's clothes. You know, a little too big and a little to old style. I know the sweater is probably new, it is just how it is coming across in the photo. The dress makes you look adorable. Post that one on facebook and see what your Brother sez. I think with you, the extra skin is an issue. Loosing more weight will not loose the extra skin. You may be loosing the muscle tone you have worked so hard to get. Your face is so cute, and your chest/upper neck area are great. Legs are good too. You do not want any more bones showing. Just keep up the good work at the gym. Keep feeling good. As long as you are showing the happy healthy girlie you are~they will get on the program soon enough. You do NOT LOOK SICKLY ! YOU DO LOOK HOT! Now, stop obsessing and go get John and have some fun.

  21. Maria, I am so sorry you are having such a bad time. I will certainly pray for your full recovery. I will also pray that when you are thru all of this you will achieve the goal you set out to accomplish: weight loss for your continued good health. You may have to take the "long" road to get there, but if in the end you get there then all is not for naught. Keep your spirits up. Know that we care for you and keep posting. We will help you thru this. God bless.

    Struggling

Ivy, change your eating program. Go back to basics. get your walking in. Start at the beginning if you have to. Clears, protein and lots of water and walk 5 min at a time. Try something other than what you are doing. It is not working for you. I am so glad you are back with us, I missed you.

    Monday Morning Weigh In

I just found this thread. Good idea Chancie! Today at home 212. Today at the gym 210. I went to my first water exercize class today. Kinda fun, but, most of the women just gab. They do not do the exercize with any passion at all.?? What is the point? It was 57 degrees at 9AM the pool was 82 but, it was still to cold a situation for a gab fest. I will try again on Wed. I do not think I will make my goal of onederland for Christmas. Think I better revise my goal to New Years Day. hahahaah
  24. Susan, what a cool way to announce onederland. I love that banner. You are doing so well. Thanks for posting the good and the bad. I feel like I have friends in Florida! Celebrate, enjoy and laugh mucho.
