Love my VSG 15 months after!

When can I start wearing the Ardyss body shaper? I am 12 days post op now and still have stiches scabs. Should I wait until 6 weeks post op? That is when they say I can start exercising. I beleive in body wraps/shapers. I know for a fact it works for me.

    Cereal?

Hi Haley, I answered this on another thread, what cha eatin? basically, find protein additives, like Kellogs pink lemonade to add to a bottle of water. works pretty good.

    Whatcha' Eating?

Do you have protein water over there? We have kellogs protein water additives. I like the pink lemonade. It makes me drink the whole bottle of water. We have a premixed product called ISOPURE. I have tried it in grape. I do not like it. I am trying the EAS muscle builder for protein intake also. Milky though not so tasty. I can get 3 OZ of it down at a time now. Get your protein, any way you can. You do not want to loose your muscle.

    Exercise help here, please!

Helen, comeon! you must have a television? there are a ba-jillion different exercise programs on at all hours. find one. use it. no trainers needed. I have found one the you do while sitting in a chair. The music is fun and all you need is a out of breath feeling for awhile. In the US you can go to the public library and get videos for free for a few weeks and them take it back and get another. They are/can be kinda fun. No one gets to see you in dumb poses. HA! anyway stop with the excuses, we know them all, we made them up before you. ha again!

    Hi There!

I have a dog now, Lovey, a 12 year old Cocker spaniel. She is a funny old girl. The dog that was most special to me was my Min. Shnauzer ,Thurston. I swear, that dog owned me. He had so much personality. I only had him 10 years and he died of a brain anuresim. It was horrible. I already had lovey at the time so no getting another dog for me. Lovey is so aloof since T died. She no longer sits with me or sleeps on the bed. She has to be in the same room as I am though. she does not like to go on long walks. Short ones yes. So,, we are walking together well these days.
  7. Oregon Daisy thanks for that. I am most concerned that this works in the long term. So glad to hear you are not hungry!

    unusual question

I bought baby food. I mixed the peas with clear chicken broth to a soup texture. I loved it. Did NOT love the meats. ick, poor baby's. I liked the applesauce and pears. I haven't tried the carrots yet. Thought I would mix carrots with beef broth for a soup. I am loving eating soup broth and "creamed" W/ N/F milk. not cream. I am eating FF cottage cheeze. and have had 2 eggs so far. I like the cream of wheat W/baby food fruit. What I like is the jars are so small and I don't waste much. My husband will not eat FF or SF stuff. He does not need it. So, I try to find stuff in little jars for me and regular stuff for him. I am adjusting to this new shopping mode. I can make this work. I am drinking the protein EAS muscle builder. So far I have gotten one half bottle down a day. am working towards full. I am now off of mashed pots. I did not know they were a bad thing until I read it here!
  9. WOW! what a ride. Much more than I expected. I am home. Trying to find something to drink that A. does not make my ankles swell. B. tastes tolerable.. I am still on the anitbiotics so I wonder if that is what makes every thing taste bad. Except S/F pudding. Sweet things taste OK. I am wanting something hot so I have been drinking herbal teas. Now, does any one have this swelling problem? Even with low sodium soups? Should I just make my own? seems such a waste as I can eat/drink only 1 or 2 oz at a sitting. The Experience was quite different. I really liked the care I recieved. If you choose Dr. Almanza. I would suggest the option of the hotel. I did not care for the recovery house. Here is why. rooms are small/tiny. no air conditioning. barking dogs outside. one shared bathroom upstairs. food is prepared down stairs for all. When you cannot eat that is hard to deal with. My hubby stayed there the two nights I was in the clinic/hospital. When I was to come out, he got us into the Hotel. I was concerned as I would not have a nurse, but, the fine staff brought me my meds and juices and teas and all was perfect. Hubby got American TV (baseball and football) He could go down stairs and get any food and drink he wanted. American newspapers, with sunday funnies. The Hotel provided free popsicles, soups, yogurts for me. Our room had two queen sized beds all soft and comfy. I had a table to sit and drink my meals, LOL. The hallway was safe/great to walk around for exercize. Walked at 12 and 2 AM one time, and, I got up to three times around before I left. The last night there I felt good enough to get dressed and go down for dinner. The Chef made me special soup, chicken broth blended with mashed potatoes. It tasted yummy. I am sure that is where the sodium overload started, but I loved that soup, all 1/4 cup of the huge bowlful they gave me..God I am still food obsessed, LOL I am sure the staff at the house does all this also. The nurse from the Clinic that did my IV came to the hotel and removed my drain tube. He was so good. (thanks again Edgar) I also had Sevier (on staff at house) come and give me a massage. He is excellent. My back was hurting and my right leg was numb from laying on my back for so long, so, he was a pleasant relief. Could not talk Hubby into massage, heehee. Overall my rating for the experience is an 8. (1 to 10) Here are my reasons for 2 points off. I would have liked to see the hand cleaning stations on the wall inside the rooms. I would have liked the appratias used to come in sealed bags that the nurses opened in front of me. I would have liked the nurses to put on gloves and dispose of them in my room. I wish the cleaning crew would come in after each shower and disinfect. I was lucky to be first both days. I hated (one full point off here) the drive clear across T.J to get the Xray Leak test done. yes, I understand the necessity, I still hated that dam trip. There was a parade outside the lab, so surreal. I know some go shopping and do stuff on their 3rd day, just not for me. I was finally ready on the 5th day. Felt good and upbeat. Finally felt good about what I had done. Met a lady that was escorting two friends having sleeves. (Canadian) She was 7 months out and looks soo cute. She is 5'7 and 165ish, So I have revised my goal to that. It has been so long since I was a "normal" weight I did not have a realistic goal in my head. I was 240 at weigh in, but 245 when I left. All the liquid retension I guess. Dr. Almanza got snippy with me under surgery,....I am a Moley person lots of raised moles. He asked my hubby for permission and they removed 4 from my lower mid section. Love that. Extra stiches, but who cares? Thinking of that,,,, did any of you remove your own stiches? Did that go OK? Gotta do that on the 25th or so.:crying: So, that is my experience. Great, positive and LOVED the staff/people I delt with.. My hubby even liked it. He got to talk with several couples and Dr's about this whole deal and got a MUCH better attitude towards my weight. He is much more supportive in a positive way, for that I am truly grateful. If I need any futher surgery, IE: tummy tuck, etc. I would go back there. But, I would drive straight to the Hotel and be picked up from there. Marriot, TJ. Hope that does not turn anyone off to this deal, it is the best. The nurses I had were so darn caring and good at their jobs. Ricardo was my assigned personal support staff. He spoke very good english and tried very hard to accomdate all my wishes. It all went well for me, hope it does for you where ever you choose to go. Just do not be afraid to get-r-done. Onward and Downward---weightwise:thumbdown::001_tongue:

    Exercise help here, please!

I cannot wait to get back on my treadmil. It has a fan and everything. I will do it in front of the TV, during a show I like, that will take away the boredom. Right now, at 11 days post, I am not supposed to "exercise" so I walk outside alot, not working up a sweat but breathing hard by the time I quit. I have met a few of my neighbors that I had only known by sight before. Kinda nice. Try walking instead of the elliptical? for awhile anyway?

    Question to you all

Your back and forth are normal responses. I wavered for months until I finally decided it was for me. I am only 11 days post. I am down 21 lbs. I am grateful for this. The "do it again question", I cannot answer yet. THis sleeve for me is about the long term. It will be worth it to me only if it is the tool I need to keep the weight off. So I will be answering that question next year some time around my "anniversary" date. I say go for it if your mind and heart tell you it is right for you. Take a leap of faith it will work long term. I have.

    Hi There!

welcome Hailey, great to get to visit with peoplearound the world. I am finding out that we are all alot more similar than I thought. I have traveled extensivily in the United States and some of Mexico and Canada. Not so much Europe and elsewhere. so it is really interesting to me to find out your views and opinions. Have you been to the post your diet thread? I would like to know what you eat daily. Bet it is different from what we eat.

    I'm Baaack from Mexico, OLE!

yes, getting them out was....um, not the best thing I have done in a while. I had a followup Dr. appt on the 11th day post with my Dermatologist. I asked him to remove the stiches I could not get. He was kind enough to do so. Still do not know if I got the last one in the main port line. ???? Go to my knee Dr. tda so will ask him for a little help too.

    Whatcha' Eating?

11 days post. herbal tea, 3/4 cup over 30 min or so. Cup of Noodles??

darn, I was looking forward to noodles. I am not there yet. Ryansgirl is right though, they are hi in carbs, I was gong to try the whole wheat noodles. Well, I have to wait awhile anyway.

    the gas is....

Have you tried the gasX strips? they melt in your mouth and control the gas really well for some. Are you walking still? that works the gas out too. Try lactaid milk, also, there is a product called Beano. a pill that reduces gas before you eat.
  17. Hi Charitymarroquin, I do not know if that is too much. I am on day 10 and cannot get 2 full OZ down at one sitting. When you were eating your soup, did you feel full at the half way mark? I am trying to pay attention to my stomach and what it is telling me. I am so happy, I got to eat a soft poached egg this morning for breakfast. I got about 1/2 of it down. Slowly. But it felt so good to eat a"normal" food and tasted great. Looking forward to cottage cheeze today and tuna! Try to listen/feel to your tiny tummy and eat only what it wants. I am trying really hard to get the head hunger to shut up. Maybe your Dr. left you a little bigger tummy than mine did? I do not think that will hurt anything. You may loose a little slower than me, but, you will still loose! I am going to start today on getting more protein in so I do not loose my muscle. THere is a lot of work involved in this deal! How are you doing on getting the 60 grms of protein a day?

    First Procedure

Are any of you thinking of doing this before one year of surgery? I have been told to wait to see how my skin shapes up, give my body a chance to naturally come back as much as it is going to. What advice are you all getting? AND what about surgery likeTT in Mexico?
  19. I have the "hunger " also. No where near what I had before sleeve. I just drink water and clear soups and now I am on cream soups it is much better. I can only hold 1 1/2 oz. I am FULL at that point so I know this will work. I am oging to mushies after tomeorrow. I will keep ya posted. I am worried about the "hunger" big time.

    Does it Ever Stop

wow, that is me too. I take great pride in having my house cool. Hubby hates it. we have been married 36 years, for the first 20 I suffered, he would tell me to put on a sweater. In these last 16 the table has slowly turned. Now I get to tell him, put on a sweater. I think this is all coming to an end though with the weight loss I will probably go back to being cold again. I am never cold, but, I am post menopausal and overweight. I love San Antonio and the beautiful Hill country. you are lucky to live there.
  21. thanks Okalani. the swelling in the ankles is gone. I am walking alot. The right leg is numb above the knee. My husband said it is the same thing he used to get called mechanics knee. from bending over the fenders of cars, they pinch a certian nerve. He said it takes along time to heal. I am believing him. I guess I kinda freaked out hearing about the blod clot death.

    Staple line.

my Xray is cool looking. can not see the staple line exactly, just the shape of my new stomach and no leaks. My diet is a bit on a struggle to know what is right to eat now. I am on liquids still. I am 7 days post. I am liking most watery soups. Hot herbal teas. Popcycles. jello. really do not want to eat much. and then when I do it is about an ounce. that is all. amazing. and I am not hungry. gotta love that.
