  1. Amen!! You're doing the right thing. Going into this journey you will really need to be free from any distractions, especially ones that might have been seen as co-dependent. Obesity and over eating is an addiction, and until we all realize this for ourselves we will always fall back into bad habits. You're already starting out on the right foot.

You're going to do wonders with your Sleeve! :)

  2. ...and it is a first step in the right direction! We all have to start somewhere, but the important thing is continuing on this journey and seeing it through.

I do understand the guilt that goes along with leaving the guys as I'm in a similar situation at work. I'm heavily relied upon and I do feel bad if I take too much time off. Well, perhaps that or I just hate coming back to several hundred emails... ha!

Anyhow, many blessings to you as you begin the first step to the rest of your life. I took that step a few years ago and I don't regret a single one along the way - even the missteps!! *hugs*

  3. One week until your big day!! Wishing you well, and I do hope you're all stocked up with everything you will need for your first few weeks post op. Likely you won't be up to shopping.

Remember to rest, sip, walk and keep repeating. Every day will get better and this time next year, you won't even recognize yourself in the mirrror!!! :)

  4. Welcome!

You're right about the health improvelements. I'm certainly enjoying some greater physical and emotional benefits that goes with weight loss!

Regarding your acid issues, are you taking any kind of PPIs? I've found that Prilosec (Omeprezole) works amazing for me. Other brands are Nexium and PrevAcid. However neither of those worked as well for me. Everyone's different though and the best way to know is to give each medication at least 2 weeks trial, and using them as directed on the box.

Good luck and congrats on all your successes so far! May you have many many more to come.

  5. I am Bea as well, except my Mom was really my Step Father. I was constantly "derided" when it came to food... to the point where I would be physically mocked to show what I looked like as I was sitting on the couch. He would puff his cheeks out and hold his arms out around his belly to make it look like I was THAT fat. I wasn't. I was MAYBE 10 Lbs over weight.

Anyway, here I am 30 years later with severe emotional problems tied to food. Parents, PLEASE don't do this to your children. :(

  6. Awww :) Hang in there, one week will go by really fast. True the pre-op diet is tough, but sticking it out is both for your best health going into surgery AND any weight you lose will be bonus. You won't have to lose it post-op.

    xoxo

  7. Hi Vicki, it sounds like you and I had a lot in common. I too was banded, I too lost about 50 Lbs and I too gained it all back. However... I was revised to sleeve on 9/15/10 and now I'm at goal!! I couldn't be happier with my sleeve. It's like a world of difference and I often say it's everything that was promised to me of my band, yet only wished it to be.

There IS hope!! White knuckling it will be so worth it, when you get your sleeve and you show everyone that you can do it.

    Blessings!! :)
