Yes! Great post! And something I really, really needed to hear and must remember during the times when I get obsessed with the number on the scale. I have a LIFE now and a future. Thank you for reminding me! And thank you for sharing this beautiful story and your pictures.
p.s. - I'm going to an amusement park tomorrow, and I'm going to ride every single ride that I haven't fit into since I was 14.

As a banded person for more than 3 1/2 years, and on maintenance for more than two of those years, I weigh myself daily to keep in check but do not focus on the numbers.
I don't post much anymore but I still go on the site regularly to see what's up. As a veteran, I try to let folks know that there really is a rainbow at the end of all this fear and uncertainty.
I understand completely that if you are new, or still losing weight, that the numbers are important. Just remember to focus on living your life, and enjoying the experiences you once could not. It's not what you weigh, but how involved you are as a participant in life. Most of us know what it's like to be on the sidelines looking in rather than being part of what's going on.
That picture of me and my grandson was taken just the other day. I went to an amusement park with my family and walked all over. I got on to the rides with the baby. I fit everywhere...I participated in everything. And with every step I took, and with every ride I went on with him, I sent up a prayer of thanks for getting my life back.
The gentleman I'm with is my boyfriend. His late wife was sick, obese, and mobility challenged. He knows I was once in her shoes. He appreciates what I did to get healthy and supports me always. We do things together and while he loved his wife and still does, he also loves that he has a companion now who can do things with him rather than have to stay at home.
The last picture is me when I was obese...and that's not the largest I was either. I wanted to have that picture juxtaposed with me on the bicycle to show the difference between before and after. I went riding that day in Central Park to make sure I could handle it as I was heading to London and planned on riding through all the Royal Parks on a tour. I struggled for sure, but I made it. And had a great time as well.
So..the story here is...pay attention to your weight loss journey, but make it about your life and your experiences, and not what you weigh. Success is not measured in pounds, it's measured in being an active participant in your life.
    Have a great weekend everyone.

I can't comment on your marriage and his horrid actions- I've never been through it. However, reading all of these posts, wait a couple days to wallow- and I firmly agree you have every right to!- but RIGHT NOW do what some of the others mentioned- take every legal action you can to protect yourself! He is assuming you won't due to devastation and just having surgery. Think- " I am woman, hear me ROAR" at this moment. It will surprise the F*** out of him! Get mad right now!!! Fight for what is yours, including your dignity!!!! Time for crying comes when you've done that- and then we will all send you boxes and boxes of tissue!️

@csawesome - vent away, cry, yell, scream and get it all out of your system.
Like OP mentioned there was probably something going on before that and he isn't going to man up the truth. Been there, done that.
The first couple of weeks you are going to walk around in a daze. Stay hydrated, eat AT LEAST your required Protein and take care of yourself and your kids.
Be prepared legally. Put a freeze on all accounts, esp credit cards.
Change locks on the doors and get all the keys to the car YOU drive. If he wants to come by and get his stuff, he does it when you are home and make sure another adult is there with you.
After a few weeks it will get easier - its those first few weeks and esp at night...
Also be prepared, just in case, that he wants to come back~~~ don't do it! I would not do it without both parties completing marriage counseling while living in separate places.
so sorry you are going through this...

If he has a lawyer you need one too. Google and find a low cost legal aid in your area. The courts will force him to allow you access to your share of property.

"Treating" myself to a Protein drink with a generous dollop of Peanut Butter for Christmas brunch 2 weeks post op. I had my one and only dumping experience...it was a memorable Christmas!
It was the last time I used food as a reward "I've been so good, I can splurge" - that thought does not cross my mind these days.

It's been a while since I've been on here and just wanted to share my progress. My starting weight was 314, I'm currently 196! I'm amazed at the difference and progress I've made! I wish anyone thinking about surgery or just beginning their journey the best! This was the best decision I've made and it has truly changed my life!

I like a lot of others get the hiccups! I know once those start it's time to stop. Even one more bite and I have gone overboard
I will also sweat or my nose will start to run, it's sort of a weird feeling but when I am full I will start to get sweaty. Gross when you are out in public!!
Those are the weird eating related things I will also say that I get really cold now. I live in MN and when it's 50 degrees here in the spring time people are out in shorts and t-shirts because it feels so warm. Not me this year. I was outside when it was 57 the other day and I was freezing! I was the only one in my neighborhood to have on jeans and a sweatshirt and still feel cold
OOOhhhh... I also get leg cramps a lot more. Almost like charlie horses in my calves. I believe that I need to take in more potassium but that never happened before surgery.

We don't usually like to answer this question. Everyone loses at their own pace. We are all at different levels of physical capabilities . I think safely I can say 1-2 lbs a week. More in the beginning but as your body adjust so will the rapid wt lost. As for me at 6 months l lost 56 lbs. but I am a revision from a band. We lose a bit slower and due to a bad shoulder, wrist and both knees I keep active but can't do repetitive things. So see a lot of factors will determine your wt lost.

I thought that I would start a second thread because many people who come across the end of the post on my last thread are not aware of the update. So after getting hysterical over the letters that I received in the mail on Friday, I pretty much spent the weekend feeling anxious so I threw myself into doing some projects for a few crafting groups that I am a part of on FB. I dived into a few projects to pass the time while I waited for Monday to arrive so that I could call my surgeon's office. I was prepared to give them an entire run down of why I feel like I shouldn't have been denied but after two minutes into the conversation and briefly being placed on hold I was told that my surgery was approved!!! I am scheduled to be sleeved for the first week in July! I wanted to have it done sooner like by or before my birthday but I have a out of pocket expense, and educational class to pay for as well as finish paying off what's left of the balance for my consultation. This gives me some time to get everything paid off. I am so happy I could just run up and down the halls and do cartwheels. What a huge relief to know that I will be starting the next leg of this journey to join you all on the losers bench! SAVE SOME ROOM FOR ME!!!

Sometimes it helps if you take the pressure off yourself. Mydoctor always uses the phrase " do the best you can". Instead of concentrating on food I just concentrated on Protein intake. I made my favorite stews and Soups and emulsified it to mushy or liquid form. I would added chicken flavored protein to them. Made Protein Drinks the way I liked them like vanilla protein with orange crystal lite. Or Decaf coffee hot or cold with chocolate protein. Keep a sports bottle next to where you sit. Sip on it all day. Use flavor u like so you will drink. Good luck and "do the best you can" and stop beating yourself up.

Welcome and congratulations on making the decision to get healthy! You have done terrific on your pre op diet.
What your are feeling right now is perfectly normal. What helped me get through it was 2 things.
    1. Constantly thinking about why I made this choice. For me, I was sick with many comorbitities but also very severe arthritis. My body was breaking down literally.
    2. Focusing on 1 step/day at a time which clearly you are. Don't fret about all the possibilities of what could go wrong.
I know you are worried about dumping, but don't. Only 30% of people get it and if you do you figure out very quickly what not to do.
In terms of post op pain, tell your doctor that you are worried about this and he will make sure that they give you proper pain control.
The worst part of the surgery is the stupid gas they use in your belly. The best thing you can do for that is walk, sip Water and use a heating pad. It only lasts a few days. Just remember that the pain really can be controlled.
As far as complications go. Try not to focus on this at all. Why worry about something that hasn't happened yet. Back to point number 2, take it one step at a time.
I am very happy for you. If you have a similar experience to mine, you will realize this is the best decision you ever made for yourself!
I am literally 1lb from goal. I no longer have pain in my knees and ankles. You are quite young which means maybe you catch this before it does worse damage to your joints.
I say this all the time, my only regret is not doing this sooner! I am 52 and for me the joint damage is done.
The best of luck to you and feel free to reach out with questions.

Both of you are on phases that allow food to slide on through your pouch. You don't get a full feeling eating sliders. Things will change when solids are added to your diet. If you are hungry enough to eat something you aren't supposed to eat more of what you are allowed. The phases we go through are important. Try real hard to stay true to it
