    Tired of slimfast

My dietician said no Slimfast. One of the Lowest protein contents and one of the highest sugar contents. What's up with that??

    Body by vi?

My dietician said no to Kellogg's and Slimfast protein shakes too. Too much sugar!! Not enough protein!!

    Body by vi?

Be careful with a lot of those weight loss protein shakes. They tend to have a lot of added sugars to make them taste better and you don't want that. Zeal has 20 plus grams of sugar!!! Atkins is better. I think it has 5 or less. Just do your research.

    ProtienToGo

Has anyone tried these ProtienToGo Protein shots? I'm prepping for band placement in early December and have been doing research and these looked like an awesome source of protien so I ordered some. They taste great, come in several flavors, with and without caffeine. I add mine to a big cup of Water to drink at work. What do you guys think??

    What Are You Reading?

I loved the Henrietta Lacks book and loved it! And I just started a series of three books by Linda Lay Shuler titled She Who Remembers. I love to read!

    Dec 2013

I'm at True Results in Richardson. I've been doing a lot of research. I guess that's the nurse in me. In fact I was just on Pinterest pinning meal ideas! Even now I'm constantly aware of everything I'm eating. What it is, how big the bite, how long I chew it, if I think I'll be able to eat it later. I've always been a picky eater so I'm making lists of foods to try that I know will be good for me after but that I really haven't liked in the past, to give them another chance. Lol! I'm really looking forward to starting this process!

    getting started

My dietician says anything with more than 5 gms of sugar is out. So slim fast and Kellogg shakes are out.

    What Are You Reading?

Game of thrones series is awesome. Also The Outlander series will consume your life and is soon to be a Starz series. It's by Diana gabaldon. There's a whole almost cult following of Jamie and Claire! A good suspense, murder mystery is The Gone Girl. Yes, I read a lot. Being a night shift nurse is either feast or famine so I try to feed my brain and not my stomach! ???„
  14. Hi, I haven't even had surgery yet but I am a nurse and I agree with all the " gas " diagnosis. Also always call your doctor, no one on a "social site" should be giving anyone medical advice about diets or treatments. Suggestions are fine but always follow what your doctor, nurses, or nutritionist had told you. Ultimately they are responsible and liable for your care especially if something goes wrong, if you didn't follow instructions they may not be. Good luck and hope you get to feeling better. I'm looking forward to joining the "banded"!!

    The waiting begins

I'm waiting, too. I have four visits with the nutritionist and psych eval and surgeon and then I'm good to go in December. I've had my first appointment, one next week but time seems to be going so slow! Worse than waiting for Christmas when I was a kid!! Lol!

    And so it begins...

The end of July I decided to call the center just to see if my insurance would pay for any of the procedures. I had heard through the grapevine that my provider did but I just wasn't ready to take that leap yet. I work nights so before heading to bed I called and gave the info to the lady and went to sleep. A couple of days lady I got an email stating I had been approved and needed to call for an appointment. Now what? Did I really want to do this? This would mean a lot of changes. So I made the appointment for one morning that week after work. I still hadn't told anyone. I didn;t want anyone to know so there would be no pressure whatever I decided. I've been overweight my whole life and most of my family has too. I have had several family members have WLS and all of them have gained their weight back. Everyone I know that has WLS has gained their weight back. And I'm still considering this? I was very discouraged at my appointment when they told me I would have to wait four months for surgery! I would have to have two dietitian appointment and a psych eval. ( that might disqualify me right there!). But after doing some research I know why and I guess that's better than six months or a year. I brought home my information and started doing my research. I found LapBandTalk.com. I found The Big Book (I'm almost finished with it) and I feel very confident I can do this. I've been able to determine exactly why all my family members have gained their weight back and even a few of my friends. I know it will be hard, one of the hardest things I've ever done. But I don't just want it, I need it. I need it for my life, my kids and my husband. I need it to be able to continue the job I love.
  18. TrueResults in Richardson. I haven't selected a surgeon yet and I'm on for December. I'm doing a lot of research I guess that's the nurse in me!
  19. Hi y'all! I'm in Anna, north of McKinney and waiting to get banded. Excited to find people from Texas and close to me even. I've learned so much on this site and can't wait to get started! Stephanie

    Let's Start Here!!

My name is Stephanie and I'm a labor and delivery nurse. I love my job and bringing babies into the world. I have 2 kids, 13 and 17 and an awesome husband. I'm getting banded in December 2013 and I'm so excited. Yesterday at the waterpark with the kids I had my first NSV and I haven't even got the band yet! I was sitting there thinking "this is the last summer I will wear a SWIM DRESS!!!" I may never wear a bikini and I don't even care about, even though I do rock the swim dress!! LOL! I've already done so much research I could probably do the surgery and open my own clinic. Sometimes it doesn't help being a nurse !

Doing my homework and getting serious

Hi, I'm planning on banding in December and I'm a nurse so I'm here getting the feel of how it all works too. I'm doing tons of research on what to expect pre-op, post-op and long term. I need to know how this will not only affect me but my family and work life. I'm making lists of questions to ask at my next appointment, list of websites to check out, shakes to try, foods to try, foods ill most likely not be able to have again, things ill need for immediately after surgery. I've already read the lap band book and my notebook is filling up. I will have never been so prepared for anything in my life including having kids!! Lol!!

    Your favorite nsv's?

I haven't been banded yet but this has been one of my favorite threads!
  23. Hi! I am brand new! I've had my first initial consultation and won't get to have surgery until December. I have to have 4 monthly visits for insurance. One down, three to go! I'm so excited, nervous, ready all at once! I am do thankful to have found this site and have already learned so much!! Thanks!
