    Needing some HELP!!

To make things more confusing, I read that chewing too much is not good either. You don't want to turn your food into mush or it will clear the band too fast......is this true??
  3. I dont know about too much, but 100% sure you wont be able to drive yourself. The anesthetic is pretty strong and you will be very sleepy/out of it for the rest of the day.

    Never going to make it

I bet your co-worker is not even aware of her munching, do dont be too hard on her. You can do it! I heard drinking water helps the hunger if that helps at all.
  5. Hi, I am new here and not banded yet, but I found the original post bashed the band pretty badly (and subsequent posts) and is scaring me. It gives the impression that bands are very bad and that life with the band if pretty bad. I like to hear about complications, but I do agree with others that it could have been explained better. But I have already decided in my mind that I will go ahead and deal with problems if they arise.
  6. My friends, family and co-workers would say the same and offer all kinds of alternative suggestions that I have already tried dozens of times. This is why I am not telling anyone except my hubby and kids. If you feel in your heart that you would benefit, and you have the means (insurance or self pay) then I would say go for it and dont listen to the nay-sayers. I admit I need help too. There are pros and cons to this procedure and I hope that the pros will outweigh the cons. Won't know until I try...right??
  7. I think you are a good candidate. Eventually you will probably be back to 200 again (I am in the same boat, I lose 25-30 pounds and it creeps back again plus more) and never be happy with the weight. I am going for my surgery at the end of September. I am self paying in Canada and hope it is the best $ I have ever spent.
  8. Just a technical question though, I know you are right and believe you when you say it passes through the band in less then a minute, but how does that aid in keeping you feeling full/satisfied? Can anyone explain how it all works?
  9. Hi, just keep the receipt and there is a line item for medical expenses on the tax form. My doctor told me I might see about $3,000 (out of the $16,000) back at tax time. Every little bit helps! I live in Ontario and am self paying too.
  10. Hello, new here. My surgery is scheduled for September 26 and I am so excited! I have been dieting since I was 15 and now 44. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!! I hope this works for me! Crossing my fingers! I have a couple of questions...... Are you restricted to taking sips of Water or can you drink normally? The second is, questions about eating slowly...how long would you take to eat a hardboiled egg? And how do you slow it down to the pace that is required? Also, how much to you have to chew the egg? I have been reading tons of info on this site. Thanks very much!
  11. Thanks beccaboo, the sippy cup and kiddie utensils are a great idea!
  12. Thanks for all the great answers. I am a little worried, but ready for this. I have tried just about everything and hope that this is finally the answer for me!
