Atkins diet website is a good place and they have an app to record all your foods. You can see how much protien, carbs and fat that you had and can set up goals. There are free recipes too! I enjoy the Atkins protien bars for meals and Snacks. They also have protien shakes and frozen meals full of Protein.

Hi! I had my surgery on June 25, 2013. I actually began losing weight in April, 2013, lost 40 pounds before surgery and am down a total of 150 pounds now. That said, I am currently wearing a tight 14 petite, so I was much larger than you when I began.
Regarding diet, I would say that my clinic is stricter than most. If you would like to friend me on MyFitnessPal.com you can view my daily food diary. Most days I eat three meals and split a Protein shake. I average between 600 - 800 calories. My day goes like this:
AM. half a premier Protein Shake
Mid-Morning. One container of light Greek Yogurt with one Tablespoon of ground flax seeds
    lunch. Protein Bar
dinner. About four ounces of meat, one cup of lettuce with salad dressing.
    Evening. Half a Premier Protein shake.< /p>
I know my weight loss is slowing down. I am trying to increase my exercise now because I think that is going to be key to long term success.
I hope you find this helpful.
    Carol

ohhhh you are NOT gonna like this..lol..for just 365 little days, (per order of my nutritionist) I did not consume, bread, Pasta, Sugar, Rice or Any form of Diary. I went past my goal in 8 months. NO RED meat either. Man I thought that was harsh. But I wanted to get there the fast way possible. But I did eat all forms of fish, pork/ham, venison, turkey. duck, goose, chicken, crab meat, shrimp, just not 'cow'. And I'll be damned, well-la 8 months later 115 lbs. Oh and NO PROCESS/DEAD foods.
I did my shakes, I did my fruit, vegs, & Vitamins. Amazingly I still don't eat those foods til today, and don't miss them either. To strict, I know, just wanted to add to your post

M just curious if I'm eating too much or too little. I think in averaging about 7-800 cal a day. Today I had:
Breakfast-Dannon Greek yogurt with 1/2 cup Kashi go lean Cereal in it.
Lunch-One cup if escarole and bean Soup and 1 Turkey meatball
Snack- 1/2 think thin Protein Bar
For dinner I plan on having more 2 Turkey meatballs and esparagus
Is this ok? I haven't weighed myself in a few days.

Hi everyone!!!! I'm on day 6 post op and I've noticed that when I introduce new food to my new tummy it gives me some discomfort, kind of like an air bubble pain, it eventually goes away but I'm not sure if I'm the only one this is happening to?

It just occurred to me this morning that if they are removing a large portion of your stomach, and the surgery is done via laparoscopic surgery (small incisions) how is the excessed stomach removed from the body? I just read an article that says it's removed through your mouth, is this true???

Travelbug1955 reacted to Photo925 in Insurance Hoops? or just finance the thing and go to Mexico
I'm just curious if I'm the only one who has considered this. We all know what the insurance companies make you go through to get this surgery, and not that I don't think it is necessary because I do think that the insurance companies have every right to qualify people for this surgery. But my thought is that why wait to get through the 6-12 months of insurance hoops when theoretically you could go to Mexico and finance the surgery and get your life started in a quicker fashion. I'm in no way swimming in cash, but I am anxious to get to the next level and when you are waiting 2-4 weeks at a time just for the next appointment, I kind of feel like I'm just waiting to live. Maybe this seems somewhat logical to me because I wouldn't have to fly anywhere to get to Mexico because I'm in San Diego....maybe I'm crazy?? Just curious if anyone thought the same way I do??

Hi everyone! I'm JenniJune and I have been a member of this forum for a while now. I would like to invite you all to come and check out my and my mom's new YouTube show just for people that have had weight loss surgery. It's called 7Bites (obviously, LOL).
I owe this website a lot - I certainly could not have gotten through my surgery without it. But I still had a ton of questions. That's how 7Bites was born. I hope this show can be of some help to some, if not all of you! Please let us know what you think!

Travelbug1955 reacted to ChaoticBliss in 3 month freak out
Has anyone else run into this? I am right at 3 months and have lost 40 pounds. That puts me 30 pounds from goal. I have had steady two pound a week loss after the first month or so and all in all that is really great stuff. Everything I could have hoped for! So why am I freaking out a little. I mean I have lost 30 pounds in a year, but these few short months makes it feel a little surreal. I worry about excess skin, but not really, if that makes sense. I haven't hit the hair loss stage in force but I am dreading that.
My subconscious just started screaming in the background. This is so fast, maybe you should slow down, you have lost so much so fast. My husband even noticed I was eating bigger servings. I realized my subconscious chatter was causing me to eat more. I expressed to him what was going on in my head and he said he could tell something was up. I currently weigh just under where I have spent the majority of my adult life. I think the prospect of actually surpassing it is a little scary to my psyche.
I worked through that for about a week, I didn't lose that week, but I have since gotten back to my normal portions and am losing again. I think I am addressing the subconscious triggers that have surely helped with my strugglers all along the way. I was just wondering if anyone else had run into something like this along the way.

Hydration is key to losing. You need to make sure you get your Water. My doctor said make water the priority and Protein next.

HI everyone!!! I was sleeved 8-14-13 and weighed 338. When I went in for my first apt with the dr in April I weighed 350. And currently I weigh 323. I am SOOO frustrated and depressed and discouraged...etc. I lost down to 323 at first, then gained to 325, then dropped to 319, now back up to 323. I really just want to sit down and cry. Here is another curveball....I am still breastfeeding a 2 year old. So I am not sure how that is affecting things. It is just so hard knowing I have so much to lose, but am not losing much. I have had to go to the ER 2 x and get fluids for dehydration. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

Travelbug1955 got a reaction from BeeLee37 in Does It Really Take 6 months Before You Have your surgury
It took my sister 6 months and my niece has to wait 6 months also. I don't have to wait since I am using a surgeon in Mexico. I am also paying cash with a much smaller bill. Surgery in the US is out of hand and they charge much more than any other country. It's not any safer here than Mexico, I know since I have had several surgeries and hospitalizations here in the US and Mexico. They overcharge for everything here! I'm tired of being charged $30,000 for just 2 nights in the hospital here in the US. Then they charge you for every other little thing they can conjure up! In Mexico, a gastric sleeve is total cost of $6500 including hospital, x-rays, surgery, medications and everything! I got my airline tickets free using my miles awards. I'm tired of being ripped off by the hospitals, doctors and pharmacies here in the US.

I thought of the other insurance but no one wants to issue a policy to someone with a BMI of 47 taking meds for cholesterol, HBP, and depression.
I like the idea of working on my head - I've been doing that for awhile and I think that's why I am finally at the point I even started considering surgery. But a little more time can't hurt
I am spending way more time online checking out sleeve info lol I should be finishing up my business' website and gearing up for teaching my Fall classes, but, but, well, this is just so much more interesting right now!
    Thanks for the kind words
