SandyM got a reaction from sweesee in Anyone want to be fat again?
Absolutely not. I don't enjoy the loose skin, but I love tying my shoes without being out of breath. Riding 12 miles on a bicycle, wearing normal clothes and the list goes on. So I won't wear a bikini, I'm lovin this.

SandyM got a reaction from cheryl M in ANYONE ELSE GET PLICATION WITH LAP-BAND?
I had band with pliation and hernia repair. I'm 15 months out and have pretty much reached goal. There are several on here who've lost their weight without fills. I've had fills but not too many or too much. The band and plication is a good combo. I think I could have done it with plication alone, but it would have been slower and more work. The whole thing with the band is just because you can eat it doesn't mean you need too or have to. Learn to stop after you are satisified.

I don't know what he's talking about. I drink normally all the time. Anyway, it will get better. What you are experiencing is the swellling. It'll take a couple days to start subsiding and a few weeks to a month to be gone. Just stay with the liquids as directed, last thing you want is to start sliming and pbing. After I was cleared to, I started drinking some warm things. They went down and were very soothing.

SandyM reacted to CanyonBaby in Madly in love but holding back info
Oh, I get so tired of hearing this kind of thing. Not you personally, don't get me wrong. But I have to say IF you are madly in love, what is the big deal? Let me tell you MY version of MADLY in LOVE:
I am married to a man, have been for almost 20 years. MADLY in LOVE to me means I am willing to clean up after the terrible bouts resulting from colon cancer. Sitting for hours on end watching chemo treatments drip into my husband while he fades away. Watching my life fade away with his. For he has been my life for a very long time. I gave up my career so he could follow his. I have moved across this country over ten times for this. I have waited for eons to see if he was going to come home alive from his job (he's a police officer).
He is madly in love with me, too. He has wiped my bottom more times than I care to think about after several of MY surgeries. He has waited in agony in the ever-sterile waiting rooms of hospitals for word on my condition. He has tolerated my rage, fear, self-centered behavior far longer than any man with half a brain would EVER tolerate.
THIS, my dear, is MAD LOVE. If you don't have it, I'm sorry. I can tell my husband ANYTHING, with NO fear of him losing respect for me, lessening of his love for me, disgusting him with my myriad of scars.
I may not have him for much longer, but I have him FOREVER. I have his HEART, and he has mine.
These are the things with which a true, everlasting relationship is built on. I am truly sorry for the history you have. He cannot change it, but if you give him a chance, he CAN change your future. If you go through life not being able to tell him everything, why are you with him? What will happen when the bad times come? You won't have a base from which to draw strength. He's not perfect, neither are you. We not only live with these "failings", but we learn to embrace them, for they make us stronger, as a couple. There are not very many strong marriages out there anymore. One reason is trust. Or the lack of. Trust is a leap of faith, and if you don't take it, you will never know the true depths your relationship could take.
So ask yourself: are you ready for all the bad that can come with the good? Is he? Ask.

Give yourself a break and have something. Try to incorporate some sweets into your routine. Its a great time of year for fresh fruit. But as others said, there's yogurt (the whips) are great, pudding, popsicles, and plenty of other stuff.

I have spoke to my surgeon about the same thing. My surgeon still says the lap band is the best thing going. I'm not knocking anybody's weight-loss surgery, to each his own. I think there are a large number of people out there who are noncompliant. Then they want to blame the band. Not always the case, but many times.

Yes, it's normal. It'll take you several days to start getting back to normal. Follow the nurses and doctors advise. Drinking is very important to keep from getting dehydrated. Walking is very important to get rid of the gas. Pain meds are very important to allow you to do both. Plication is hard on your body, but well worth it. I had read from people who had only the band that say they were out walking the roads the night of surgery. I had band, plication and hernia repair and I wasn't walking any streets for 2 days.

Can you wait until the afternoon to take your pills. I'm tighter in the morning. I wake my band up with warm drinks in the a.m. Before taking my pills

SandyM got a reaction from NewLife'sGr8 in Do you know if you are too tight?
Lisac, I agree with every word. The band is very subjective, but sometimes people look for the green zone to be something more commanding than it is able to be and pass right over it to the red zone. Problem is when they hit the red zone and lose wt like crazy they don't want to back out of it for fear of stalling. All kinds of problems like reflux, dilation, vomiting with slippage are possibilities. We all have to find our own sweet spot. Mine is green close to the yellow end. I can eat just about anything, but I'm restricted to amount. This also has drawbacks as grazing isn't restricted and neither is head hunger. This makes me have to practice a lot of self control.

SandyM got a reaction from MarieMarie in Give us this day our daily bread
and pies, cakes, etc. So, while most of the rest of the world was eating Thanksgiving Lunch/Dinner, Me and hubby were building shelves at my office. My Thanksgiving dinner is today. My kids are all going to be here as well as a few inlaws and maybe a few outlaws. We are doing turkey and dressing and all the trimmings. I'm even trying a few new recipes, none of them excessively healthy. I've made a vow to avoid the "blts" as weight watchers put it BITES, LICKS, TASTES, samples. Hubby is going to play that role, since he loses weight much easier than I do. Wish me luck. Last Thanksgiving, I got stuck on my first piece of turkey and ruined my dinner. This year, I'm really looking forward to it and have vowed to keep it healthy, or at least as healthy as I know how. No leftovers kept here at the house. Fortunately, I have 5 teenage grandsons, so I don't expect there will be many of those anyway. Happy Thanksgiving everybody from our family.
