    donna450 got a reaction from meggs353 in LapBand 2years......? & problems
Hey, thanks for feedback....husband problems being worked out.
Band problems idk I'm still having same problems. I called my primary saw him and he gave me an acid reflux rx.
He feels I need to see my gastroenterologist...so I did. I'm now having an upper endoscopy procedure Monday..tomorrow.
I told my doctor that I should see my lap band doctor first to see if it possibly the culprit, but he sent me to me to the gastro doctor. Surgery on Monday, then Tues I get a fluoroscope done to check lap band. I suggested that I see my lap band doctor first so I could get the band drained so the other doctor can go all the way to my stomach to check for an ulcer.
    But not happening.
Well, I hope they find something causing all this pain and I can start to eat something other than cottage cheese and peaches when that stays down. I also think it might be stress
I hope you all are doing good. Thanks again for your support....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I'm sorry to hear that. It does happen however, more than you would think. However, I lost my 60lbs in the first 18 mo. I had my band since 8-13. I stopped losing about year ago. I only have 3cc in my band.
I take plenty of RX's that are constipating and weight gainers. So I take a stool softener about three or so days a week. Plus getting in your Water is important.
You need to go back to your bariatric doctor and let him know of your walls that you are running into.
    Do you have enough cc's?
I might go and get another couple cc's before the end of the year. It sounds like you're still fairly new at this. There are stops and starts. If you're eating the same foods, mix it up a little, or eat supper for Breakfast. Are you using oil, butter or the like to cook any of your meals in? Lean meats? Get more advice from other long timers with their bands. I'm sure there are many, many out there who would be happy to help. Good Luck Donna

Thx for support..i am Bipolar...take 9 pills a day for that..diabetes...quit insulin but take 4 pills for that..Low thyroid..one...heart condition..2... and including all others otc...about 9 there...those are as needed but most of them have to take. Am I feeling sorry for myself? Yeah sometimes..just mostly severe depression due to bipolar...I am 64 I don't think that any of these meds will be going away..I just hope the neurologist next month will be able to at least diagnose the problem but more than likely confirm my dementia or MS . So more than likely unless I hit the jackpot $$$$$ I'll be with the band and the headaches. I do try meditation with rhythmic sounds so I can relax and concentrate on it instead of my headache. I use the sounds of a babbling brook by Joe Baker. I just have to deal with reality and live my life with these disabling conditions. But try to live a life to the fullest when not being controlled by them.

I have several diseases and many chronic conditions. I take 12+ prescriptions which equals about 18 or so pills a day. I have been taking these or ones like these for over 30 years actually I was 30 pills at one point. Today down to about 18. I am 16 months post op. I take my pills 4 a day to spread them out. In the beginning my meds and the band didn't work...terrible pain..but as usual I had to find a way to work my life with the band and believe me the band is in control. It went well for awhile now I'm finding that I'm getting the pressure in my chest area by my port...Also I get severe headache each time I take my pills along with the pressure by my port. I have severe chronic headaches..but this is new that along with getting a couple headaches a day...now also the four times I take my pills. I'm not sure if my band and pills are the problem or something else. I can't crush most of my meds as they are made to last throughout the day. I'm on S'S so need my meds to be low or 0. So changing to liquid or chewable is very expensive. Now I had an MRI for worsening headaches and now my primary is figuring out if I might have MS. That's neither here or there. Just would like to know what any of you banders have a problem like what I described and how you have been handling it. Thanks in advance. Sorry took so long to get to the point.

I agree. I am 16 months post op. I'm still learning to listen...but have paid my dues and have learned quite a bit. Don't be ashamed. Your doctor has gone through this in his/her career...you just need to realize you're human and learning is a process. Give yourself time but also a pat on the back..you realized you had a problem and you're doing the right thing in helping you and the band work together...you're going in the right direction...just let your doc know what issues your having. Good luck

I would have told her to mind her own business and ask her what her name was and what the managers name was and stand there out of any line just to let her stew in her own ignorance thinking we would go off on her and demand to speak to the manager. I think her thinking the worst thing...like maybe losing her job might be going through her head and then let her think you are going to come back and speak to the manager for her rude remarks and and does she comment on everyones purchase or is she prejudice of overweight people only? I'm not sure but I would think she would think again about expressing her opinion about anything. And before you leave stop in once more and ask to see the manager if he/she comes out I would complain but I would think she's already given herself a "what for" for saying anything. I know it sounds like you're taking up your time to persecute this ignoramous but you're trying to make a point w/o getting her fired even though you may want her to. I would say it would be a valuable experience for her and also you if someone else would make a rude remark.

donna450 got a reaction from Skywalker in Just got banded and i'm scared.
What was your normal self before the band? All I can say is what I went thru. I was eager to have the band. I had doubts with each new pain or difference that wasn't what I was use to. I had gas pain 2 weeks; I took 33 pills a day and spent a fortune getting it in liquid, dissolvable, etc. That lasted the first month couldn't continue paying that much each month so had to learn how to take my pills(required) and learning how and what I could eat drinking enough getting enough Protein. It's a process...just like gaining weight was a process. Sure it's scary...but it does get better. I look back 4 months ago and I was going thru what questions and worries...but I sought help and info. Taking what I needed and tucking other advice away in case I needed it. I downloaded receipes to help me keep on track. I don't want to be my normal self...I want to do and feel better than before. I had my doubts but kept my perspective. I'm happy that I had it done..would do it again. There are times I can't eat because I eat too fast or didn't chew good enough but overcame that. And have come to terms that if I don't follow the rules I pay the price. I've lost 25lbs. I have no fill...dr says I'm doing very good, losing slowly and no fill yet if ever. I eat anything I want just have to chew good eat slowly. There are some things I can't eat but you will find that out by trial and error. I feel great. I don't get hungry between meals. I do eat low cal Snacks once inawhile. Attitude is a big hill to get over if its negative. You may have it relatively easy or it may take awhile. But it took awhile to put the weight on..remember the band helps you have to do the rest of the work. You'll get over your fear and doubts in time as you learn..this site has many vets and middle banders and beginners but you have to do the research and take what fits you and your lifestyle. You'll never be normal...you'll be better. Good luck and remind yourself that this does work if you work with it.

yes, i'm so happy I have a super supportive fiancé, as well. I've talked to her about a lot of stuff and I wanted to let her know why I would be missing some work days, because I usually never take time off. I only bring it up when they ask me. I guess I should have kept it to myself!
Thanks for the support everyone! I would never let anyone discourage me from getting this surgery.. I've been thinking about it since my 18th birthday, but I just can't get over how rude some people can be about it.

I find that there are receipes that go down so smooth that I forget I have a band. I try to buy chicken tenderloins and boneless thighs and I use my crockpot alot. I have to find some not too fattening sauces to cook chicken in and a sauce to go over fish. Taco salad I made last week was amazing too. It was scrumptious. I get alot of receioes fromm allreceipes, food network and alot from Facebook under the name Karen who sells Sinny Fiber products. My next favorite dish besides the taco salad is bbq chicken thighs of course in crockpot. It turns out tasty and oh so tender. Is there a forum for just receipes here? Maybe we can put receipes up there that we've tried and got good results from. I'm going to check now. Later banders.

I try to have a few sips of hot drink...but will do it everytime I eat....and I'll see if I can take pills with warm liquid. I have quite a few in the a.m. but will certainly see if it works. This morning eating my "atkins" like Breakfast I make it myself and put I freezer. Anyhow had some hot Water to soothe my throat...but I did take smaller bites and slowed down. No sliming. Hopefully this is a good beginning to my problems. Thx

Terry...I am going thru the same. Only I have to take about 33 pills a day. They're divided out four x a day. I feel in my throat they get stuck. I feel like a heartburn feeling and get god awful pressure in my chest and then a powerful unrelenting headache. Yesterday I ate about 8 took my pills about 10 and it finally went away almost 1 pm. Time to take my 1:00 pills but didn't take them until 4 so I would have a slight repreive. But I had a protein smoothy for lunch about 1:00 after "the feeling" went away and I had a hard time getting that down. And I also get chronic headaches on a normal basis and have to take those prn. They go down okay but still feel a little pressure when taking one pill. I see my band dr next week and have outlined this for him. These are pills I must take to keep my bipolar and headaches and OTC's for band and diabetes in check. Just venting. Thx for listening.

Iwas banded 8-23-13. I had an easy surgery hard time getting approved b/c I take 22 pills a day...used to be 33. I've lost 25 lbs. I've not had a fill yet. Dr says I'm doing real well. Slow and sure. But I take psychiatric drugs that are weight gain...have diabetes...and low thyroid. You would think I'm a failure before I began...but I would do it again. I've learned some things others take awhile. If you don't have my sort of problems...and you follow the plan...you'll probably lose weight fairly fast. Mine is going to be slow...but I did it for health reasons first weight reduction second. I have 50 lbs to go to meet my goal so I'm happy the way I'm going. If you have questions I can try to answer but going to general lapband support groups then lapband support groups alot of vets are on there and many are willing to help. I go there with my problems and they are very supportive. But always consult your lapband doctor.
    Good luck.

Barbee here's what I usually eat. I eat alot of foods that I maybe shouldn't but they taste so good. I usally try not to eat them but sometimes they creep in.
B-i have started to make a very large breakfast and divide into 7 days in containers put in freezer then I heat it up in microwave.
I either take a pkg of sausage turkey lowfat etc. Or turkey bacon. I use all of each. I brown the ssusage until crumbly. I use a handful of frozen red, yellow, orange peppers that I have bought in bulk and clean them and slice them put in freezer after frezing them on a cookie sheet so they don't stick.
Next I use olive oil to fry the peppers and lg diced onion.
Then I take 5 eggs w/ yolk and 5 whites add a little skim milk fry those up.
Take each bowl and add several spoonfuls in 7 containers. Cool then stick in freezer. I drink a cup of hot tea b/c my throat is tight after that I can eat my breakdast fine.
Btw if using turkey bacon instead of sausage I cut the whole pkg into small pieces and fry them until slmost crispy.
L- Cottage cheese 1/2 c. To 3/4 c. With half a cup of crushed pineapple with some peanuts
D-usually a casserole and noodle mixed in cream Soup with cheese. I use crockpot to make up chili, meat sauce, veg beef soup usually have a full cup maybe a little more. Iwas banded august 2013 and havent been filled yet and take close to 30 pills a day. It's hard to get them all down divided into 4x a day.
I've lost only 25 lbs. I go 2-3 lbs up and down. But with fill I might make some progress. I don't know if I get enough Protein but think I do. Right now eating more than suppose to. I hope you can find foods you can eat. Just go on Facebook and get receipes friend Karen White who sells skinny Fiber which shouldn't be good for us we need food to fill up on. Or go to receipe sites. Good luck.
